Hector and his team completed a long and complicated project for me in SF. He navigated a complex design and a long permitting process very well! Additionally the workmanship was outstanding. Communication was excellent and the job was finished on time. I can't say enough good things about Hector and his crew !! I recommend them without reservation! read more

Worked with Hector and Stew on a load bearing wall removal in my San Francisco home. Team did an excellent job and were very easy to work with. Hector uses WhatsApp and google docs to communicate and keep you u to date which is great. Also can't say enough about Stew, so great to work with and his vision and ideas are incredible. Whenever we were unsure of what to do we would always as rely on Stew to guide the way. Great team! Highly recommend. P.s. Miguel is great as well, cant leave him out!! read more

Hector is beyond awesome! He just completed a major remodel of our newly purchased TIC unit. We had never done any type of major renovation before, and knew we needed someone who could be trusted to stay within our relatively small budget, truly understand our wants and needs, but also be the expert with regard to what was possible and not possible. We already had an architect draw up the plans but we needed to implement them. As our General Contractor, Hector exceeded our expectations. I am a project-managing-details-person and I loved how Hector managed our calendar on a shared Google Doc so we could all follow along and know exactly what was happening on any given day, when payments were due, and what to expect in the next phase of the project. He also helped us a ton when we realized that some of the architect's plans were terrible ideas or frankly, looked OK on paper but just not going to work. He is also super responsive via email, text, phone, etc. We never struggled to track him down. In a crisis, he was there for us. For example, when a crazy downpour of rain and wind tore away some temporary covering on a opening in the roof where our chimney had just been removed, water started coming into our upstairs neighbor's unit. Within moments of notifying Hector, he was ON IT immediately and drove up from Redwood City to San Francisco on a Friday night to fix the problem and ensure that our home was not damaged and the neighbor's unit was not damaged. In short, hiring Hector == quality work and peace of mind. You might be able to cobble together a cheaper bid by using a crew of sketchy, shady, and/or unlicensed folks, or by making the (insane) choice to not have a General Contractor and manage it all yourself. But, you will regret it unless: 1) You don't have a job 2) You have all the time in the world to make your renovation your full time job 3) You have lots of experience leading successful renovation projects 4) You thrive on managing a slew of contractors with competing agendas and schedules. Finally, in addition to the technical expertise Hector brings, he also brings emotional intelligence. Not only is he a cool dude, but he can talk to and ease noise-disturbed neighbors. He even identified a particularly surly neighbor of ours and helped us deliver a gift basket to her as a peace offering. We never would have thought of that. Hector is the best! read more

I needed some work done in my apartment and was eager to get moving on it right away. My regular contractor did not get back in touch after repeated phone calls... his loss and my gain! I read Hector's reviews on Yelp and decided to email him. He responded promptly and we set up a time for him to swing by, check out my place and submit a bid. HMMs Helping Hand painted my whole apartment, did some electrical work and general maintenance. They had a GREAT attention to detail, were very careful in cleaning up after themselves and left the place looking amazing. I cannot recommend Hector and his team highly enough - they are as good as it gets. Hector's courteous, friendly, on time and a pleasure to deal with. read more

Hector and his team were great. From day one, they have been responsive, caring and punctual. After several challenges and hurdles with past contractors, Hector and team came through and helped us get past the final inspection - a milestone that seemed impossible. I highly recommend them. read more

Thank you Hector and Stu, your calm craftsmanship came when we needed it most - picking up the broken pieces from a shamefully bad contractor cabal. Your planning and attention to detail really showed through whether the challenge was carpentry, electrical or plumbing, You introduced us to talented and fantastic specialists who all helped us climb out of the pit... ...and now, Hooray! We easily passed our Electrical and Plumbing inspections and have our final building inspection teed up. If you've got a wobbly or broken project, HMM can fix it and bring peace back into your world. Even better, call HMM first, have a great project, and enjoy life! read more

We needed help installing a doggie door for our lil diva and a new doorbell. Found Hector & Sal who did a a great job, and were professional & easy to work with. I will call them again if we need to fix stuff around the house. One star down because they were an hour late. read more

Called HMM to replace some drywall and paint in one of my rooms. They worked quickly, were clean, and the rate was reasonable. Will keep Hector in mind for future jobs, especially now that I know he's a licensed General Contractor. read more

HMM General Contractors - General Contractors Near Me

My landlord actually called/paid for Hector's services, but since I am the one with the, er, mouse problem (they were sealing up all the ways the critters were finding their way into my lovely Victorian) I got a chance to experience Hector and Fernando's professionalism. I kept their card for any time I need work around the house. Really impressed. read more

Hector and his crew are by far the best contractors I've ever worked with. First off, when I first reached out to him to discuss my project and get a quote, he was super responsive in our initial phone call and then on time for our meeting. Most other contractors I reached out to either never called me back or were late to our consultation meeting. Secondly, as we discussed the scope of the project, Hector never talked down to me and instead was very enthusiastic and helpful in making suggestions on how we could make things look even better or, to my great surprise, cheaper. While Hector did not come in as the cheapest quote, he was also not the most expensive, and I never had any question in my mind who I wanted to work with. Trust is a rare commodity when it comes to contractors, and I knew immediately that I could trust Hector. During the construction itself, he and his crew were efficient, friendly, and clean. Stu and Miguel did a great job on the electrical and bathroom remodeling, while the subcontractors for the tiling, cabinets, and painting were top-notch as well. Communication is always one of the biggest headaches with contractors, but Hector was always responsive via phone or text whenever I had questions, and paid close attention when I had specific things I wanted done or taken care of. The end remodeling result turned out even better than I had hoped. My bathrooms look awesome, and the electrical work is flawless. Most importantly, they stand behind their work. When my new sink started leaking water into my vanity, they were on-site the very next day to fix it. When it started leaking again a few days later, they were again on-site within 24 hours, armed with a brand new P-trap and basically re-did the entire sink plumbing. Hector even offered to re-do the part of the vanity that had mild water stains due to the leaks, which I appreciated but declined since it was on the inside of the vanity and I thought it was too minor to bother. There was never any question or discussion about my needing to pay more for the extra times they had to come out, Hector just wanted to make things right. I worry that I'm shooting myself in the foot a bit writing such a glowing review because the busier these guys get the less time they'll have for my future projects, but Hector and co. are a first class operation and they really deserve it. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone needing home remodeling work done, big or small. read more

I would and will use these guys again, however they do book up pretty quickly. Hector, Stu and the gang are great guys, super responsive about phone calls and great about communication during prep and construction. I've used them twice before on two separate homes that we've owned and they have always performed great quality work. read more

Stu did a great job. He went out of his way to do the bid early in the morning when it was convenient for us. He was open minded, and was very creative in proposing solutions to complete a project we had started on our own. Every day he was prompt, helpful, and extremely efficient. Unfortunately, once the project was complete, we noticed that the gas to the stove was no longer as powerful as prior to the move of the line. They made a follow up appointment to come look at it, and didn't show up. We made another appointment, and they came and argued with our diagnosis. They still didn't complete the work, and scheduled yet another appointment to have someone else look at it. Then they finally scheduled an appointment to fix the issue (this required us to stay home from work a total of 4 times, for one small problem). In the end, they fixed the problem at no additional charge, which I appreciate. However, while they were there, they cut the power line to the lights in our garage. We didn't want to deal with more endless appointment to fix that damage, so we hired an electrician instead. Overall we liked them, and would use them again. We have endless projects in our house, and actually called them back to bid on one of them, but told us they had no availability for SIX MONTHS. read more

What a nice guy. Trying to get a last minute repair done for a shower wall, and I called him this morning. While he wouldn't be able to help me ASAP right now, he took the time to give me suggestions on who I should call (handyman - not contractors). Will definitely call him for when the project is ready for a remodel. read more

I had two small jobs in my condo - I found Hector through Cole's Hardware. They worked up an estimate quickly, showed up on time, knocked the jobs out on schedule and on budget. The workers were great, clean and really nice guys. I'd use HMM Helping Hand without question. read more

I've worked with Hector and his team for several years now and they are the best! I found them through Cole Hardware's referral program the first time I used them. We live in an old Victorian and came back from vacation to find the light fixture and plaster medallion holding it had dropped about 3 feet from the ceiling and was hanging by a thread. We needed help right away - were concerned about the safety of it hanging there and the electrical cord. We also had some water damage from a roof leak. Hector came out that day, assessed the damage, took care of the emergency right away, and had everything fixed - better than new in a few days. Since then we've used Hector and his team for a variety of jobs - both large (installing kitchen appliances and building a vent through the ceiling) and small (we're not too handy so I keep a list of things that need attention and ask them to come out every few months). Hector and his team can do everything - the plumbing work they did was so much better than the plumbing company we had used in the past, electrical is flawless and better than previous handyman, building shelves in our garage - they had some extra wood and asked if I wanted them to build something to hold our rakes and brooms. Hector and everyone on his team is amazing! If it's something they think can be done better by someone else, they bring in their partners. We needed glass doors replaced on a shower and they suggested a partner who did it all. We needed a special water heater installed in a separate cottage on our property and he brought someone in to manage it. All partners we equally professional and helpful. Hector is great at helping you problem-solve too. I couldn't recommend HMMs Helping Hand more highly! read more

We found Hector through Cole Hardware's referral program. He and Stu are super reliable, trustworthy, communicative, polite, clean, professional, and will get the job done right even if it means coming back to tweak things. After doing our first project I heard him say he had just installed a range hood. Funny that that has been on our list for some time so we had him do that too. I'm so happy to have finally found someone I can truly count on and not have to search for a contractor ever again. Our other contractors were hard to get a hold of and did sloppy work. I have been recommending Hector to my friends and neighbors. You really can't go wrong if you hire these guys. read more

We just hired Hector again to update the deck in our new home. We wanted to preserve the view but also make the space safe for our 2 year old daughter. The end results far exceeded our expectations. The deck looks AMAZING now it is safe for our daughter to run around and play on. Hector and Stu are a pleasure to work with and were very accommodating to our scheduling needs. They are my go to team for all contracting work. I would not hesitate to contact them. read more

Looking for a contractor for a repair in my home, pulled up Yelp and I cam across HMM General Contractor. Gave him a call and this guy was super rude to me and would not even share his name. Not the person I would like to do business with and I would not recommend you even calling for an estimate. read more

These guys are amazing! They have great attention to detail and an excellent vision to ensure that the vision of the project held true. My home looks stunning thanks to Hector, Stu, and crew. They worked with me through a few permitting snags and adjusted their schedule to ensure that the work was finished within the allotted time - as I had painters coming through mere weeks later. They were respectful of my home and ran a very clean job site. This is as good as it gets. I can't wait to work with them again. read more

Hector and his team are simply amazing. Our water heater finally gave out on a Friday and I called HMM that night. The next day, he had a crew out to begin installing a new tankless unit and we had hot water by the end of the weekend! The teams timeliness and thoroughness were much appreciated. HMM will be our go to contractor for all future contracting needs. read more
