We easily parked in the large gravel lot and walked inside and were immediately sat at a table by the water with a lovely view. Our waitress was prompt and super friendly. We chose to get the crab hush puppies and were thrilled to see they were made fresh and hot to order and tasted phenomenal. We devoured them quickly. We decided to split the fish taco meal since it was lunch for us and it came with two large-sized tacos and cole slaw. It was a nice portion for an entree and was easily enough for both of us for a lighter lunch. Really delicious sweet tea so I took some to go. Small gift shop attached and tons of seating inside and expansive views of the water with a back wall of windows all around.

Ordered drinks and a large pizza, half plain; half peppers and pepperoni, extra thin crust. Look, we are from NY so, yeah, we are a little pizza snobby. But, tbh, this pizza was really tasty! Was it brick oven neapolitan worthy? No, but this isn't a brick oven joint and doesn't claim to be. Full disclosure: we drove by the Deadrise in Cape Charles and had no patience for an hour wait. And that, too, was understandable. It was Friday night, Memorial Day weekend! The staff here was warm and welcoming, crowd was friendly, we liked watching the pool players and left happy and full. After crossing it was getting close to noon and again I investigated another place, this one. After reading a couple reviews and viewing some pics, after all I am a dive connoisseur, I needed to stop here on my way north. After navigating US13 I found the place, just how it appeared on line. Made my way inside and from the moment I entered I knew it was a locals and I was welcomed. I started with a Rolling Rock in a bottle not an oil can. Not even looking at the menu I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. The bartender even read some specials to me but no I didn't take her advice. She had mentioned spaghetti and meatballs w/garlic bread. The burger take a bit to cook, it was a fat one. The burger arrived and it looked great w/LTO. Then someone ordered the special and it came out. Don't get me wrong the burger was grand but I did just have a burger the day before and spaghetti and meat balls looked better. Next time I'll listen. The burger was cooked properly and the fries were crisp and puffy. I would order again for sure. Lesson learned, take the special when out of town. Peace.

Well she wasn't wrong, they were the Best Scallops I have ever ate. We also bought 3 pounds of Shrimp and they were delicious! They also filled my cooler up with Ice at No charge!!! After eating the yummy food, I can see why it was still busy! Drinks has a fresh squeezed limeade and hubs had a beer and we both enjoyed them. Shared the pulled pork sandwich and tried both BBQ sauces and all of the above was excellent and a good portion of pork. The house made chips were also good and we got a side of their homemade ranch and honey mustard to dip the chips in! Dessert did not disappoint as we also shared the amoretto pecan pie! So good! They make all desserts in houses and it was hard to choose just one! Just means we have to go back to try another one! My wife, an orange crush connoisseur, said the Shanty's crush was very good! They also have a nice beer selection including local area craft beers. The Frogman Lager on the menu has been one of my favorites when I visit VA, so it was nice to see on the menu. We started off with a 1/2 dozen local oyster, which were nice and sweet. The crab dip was amazing and full of crab! We split the shrimp Po-boy. The sandwich was loaded with plump tasty shrimp on an amazing roll.
