Chelmsford Fireplace Center - Fireplace X 6015 !

Chelmsford Fireplace Center

I had been looking to replace an old Vermont Castings freestanding fireplace and had done research…read moreon various brands. Do you think I could even get a return phone call or email from Boston/Cambridge area stores? The answer is NO. I emailed Chelmsford Fireplace to ask which models of Valor, Jotul, and Rais they had on the showroom floor. I had a clearly written returned email in ten minutes. I went up to Chelmsford and purchased a Valor stove within 15 minutes of arrival on a Saturday, and it was installed the following Friday. I knew this was a quality place as i entered the store. The store was crowded with customers, it was clean and organized, and the staff were attentive and knowledgeable. This is completely the opposite situation that I have found at other stores. If you want to speak to someone who knows their business and products, take that 30 minute ride up from Boston. I promise, it will be worth it. Since I am located in Somerville I am out of their installation area. No problem, they have The Fireplace Guys LLC out of Malden do their Boston installations. The installation was executed perfectly and complete in four hours. A fantastic overall experience.

The sales department was very helpful however the service department is unable to service NH fireplaces. The service department is not able to answer calls so you do have to wait for a return call. I had called and had to wait days only to hear that they never got my message. I did call the owner, Corey, who called me back and heard my concerns around the service department communication. I will say that every person that CFC has been sent to my house was courteous and knowledgeable however getting in touch with them to schedule a visit was more effort than expected.

From the moment I met the estimator Stan, I could tell by his professionalism and willingness to answer any and all of our questions that we were hiring a winning team! Meghan and Natalie at the office were always courteous, timely and extremely helpful with all the scheduling, billing and questions we had. When it comes to workers.....well, I don't think you could ever get a better combination than Chris and Anthony. From start to finish, these guys were at it all day long. They were always friendly, courteous and willing to answer any questions we had. From the massive staging construction, the crown and brick removal, to the beautiful rebuild and complete waterproofing of our chimney...these guys were extremely efficient and worked very well together....it was impressive to say the least. The color matching of the new brick and mortar to our existing is incredible. The craftsmanship and quality of work is second to none! The cleanup was impeccable and we even got a beautiful report with construction pictures to keep for our files....you can't beat that! We will definitely be hiring Sweepnman again for any of our chimney needs.

From the start, Leo arrived exactly when he said he would to take his initial look at our project. In addition to providing us a competitive quote on-site, he also provided us some suggestions for our project design that we did end up using. We were so pleased and impressed with him, we hired him on the spot. Fast forward to the patio install itself, once again everything went great! The craftsmanship and attention to detail is top notch. These guys also worked their tails off. Despite it being 90+ degrees, they worked tirelessly the entire day and were able to complete our patio ahead of schedule! To our surprise, they even took the time to backfill the disturbed area next to the new patio with loam and even spread some seed on it for us. Leo and Regiane were great communicators throughout the project and the patio is perfect. A+ all around! Will highly recommend them. Additionally, living in the age of Covid, the staff took all safety precautions necessary, including wearing masks whenever they were unable to stay socially distance and always when meeting with us on-site without prompting which we greatly appreciate.

David L. For the…read morelast 25 years I have owned Vermont Castings woodstoves, the last of which was a Defiant model purchased about 17 years ago from the Stoveshop in Littleton, MA. As I grew older I began to realize I could no longer hand carry three cords of hardwood a year to feed the wood stove so this year I decided to switch to a gas stove using the same propane gas we use for a fireplace in the other end of the house. In August I went back to the Stoveshop and purchased a Hearthstone model mostly on the basis that it put out the most heat available in the same physical configuration as the former wood stove. This was driven by the height of the exhaust pipe on the wood stove. The stoveshop helped me find a gas stove where the coaxial pipe used for inlet air and exhaust to and from the gas stove fit the exact mechanical configuration of my previous wood stove. After the selection of the stove the real problems began. I found out that what I thought would be a simple process of running a gas line through the floor to the new stove is subject to a permitting and inspection process in Massachusetts. Most of the plumbers I had worked with before apparently don't like to put up with the hassle to do a relatively simple hook-up. My normal creosote-cleaning chimney guy was willing to prepare the chimney but it was obvious I would have been his first coaxial chimney customer so I thought an experienced chimney person would be better. In both instances the Stove shop was able to provide me with the names of skilled people to do the necessary work to prepare for the stove to be installed. Now that the new stove is installed and operating properly I can say that the Stoveshop provided an extremely valuable service. In addition to selling me a stove they provided valuable information and expertise in areas with which I was not familiar. I probably could have bought a stove for less money from a supplier like Amazon but I would not have known how to install it even though I have a degree in electrical engineering. I feel that the expertise provided by the Stoveshop was well worth the additional expenditure especially when the safety aspects of gas installation are considered.
