Who needs a car when so much is close by? Resident managers are always a plus, especially when they are easy to get along with and responsive to problems. Large windows let in the light (and the heat if the space faces west) help make those inevitable cloudy days a little more bearable. There is secure parking in the garage but make sure you have a smallish vehicle 'cause the ceiling is a bit low. A few outdoor spaces are available if you own a pickup truck or large van. Cons: West facing apartments may have a good view but they can get HOT when the sun is shining. Invest in a good fan or portable air conditioner. Doorway into the bathroom is a bit small and the door hits the edge of the shower so it isn't able to open completely. This might be a problem for someone in a wheelchair or poor maneuverability. The two bedroom I'm renting is a good size but trying to move a sofa around the corner into the living room was almost impossible due to the sharp turn into the hallway. Hopefully other apartments don't have the same layout. All in all - this is a clean, well-maintained building with good managers and is well worth your hard earned cashy money.

It's Cap Hill pricing and the ONLY reason we moved out was the affordability, we had to move and it was a sad, sad day. I am currently in a hate/hate relationship with my new building and it reminded me that I hadn't written about how glorious The Sheffield was for me. I'm not really a city girl in many respects even though I happen to love this city, so if I say it is quiet, it really is quiet. The music school is right there and during the first semester it is... well, let's just say that by the end of the year they sound GREAT! And you can open your windows and listen to them if you'd like, or close them and you don't really hear them at all. The laundry room is kept up and clean, the machines are either always working or they get them repaired right away. Parking sucks, but there is building parking if you'd like. Parking sucks a bit in all of Cap Hill, but it's the price you pay for being in the area. However, there is a bus to take you everywhere, so that really isn't a big deal at the end of the day. The people are amazing, they have barbecues all summer and everyone is invited to participate and be social. It really is a home, so check it out.

We've had multiple times throughout the year where we have to evacuate the building at 2am because some jerk pulled the alarm. I've seen neighbors who park on the streets get their windows busted. I've had a designer suitcase and 2 bikes stolen from my storage unit! The list goes on! The management lowkey sucks too! Not friendly at all!!!

The restaurant uses the fireplace from 10am to 10pm. Not possible to open the window because of the smoke. Since I have asthma, we talked to the office hoping to move to any vacant unit and we're willing to pay more. They pushed back and kept saying no issue was found. Well, how do they find the issue if the office member only stood in the hallway and refused to come into the unit? Thanks, we ended up buying a house. BTW, the only star is for the maintenance guy.

There are major security issues and break ins that management refuses to adequately address. It truly feels like the only person who cares is the maintenance dude. Complete bullshit. BEWARE of getting entangled in any lease agreement with this building or any of the Mack Urban group apartments. Apparently it never ends and they can charge you whenever and for whatever they want, and if you don't pay up they will try to ruin your credit.

Christy the Community Manager has been incredibly helpful and insanely fast to respond to inquiries, and is quick to communicate everything important to the community as a whole! I had to send them numerous emails just to get my money back. The employees seem indifferent to the residents, making the process of moving out exceptionally stressful.
