I got another drink before I left the first time I came here. I ordered the Fresh Strawberry Blend (without cheese) with Lychee jelly topping. At first, it tasted similar to the one I had in China, however the more I drank it, it started to taste sour and flavorless. The strawberry flavor was a little lacking, it tastes mainly like water slushy and I'm glad I decided to add the lychee jelly in it because it made it sweeter and tolerable to drink. When I ran out of the topping I couldn't drink anymore of the strawberry slush by itself. I would not recommend this drink. Sunday, Jan. 27th I went a second time and decided to order the milk tea again. I ordered a large size of A5 Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea. It was sooo good. I downed it in the first 15 mins of getting the drink. It was so good! Again, the milk tea was the perfect sweetness. The tapioca pearls were soft, but kind of tasted old like it wasn't cooked fresh. The first time I came, which was on Friday, Jan. 25th was way better. But I would still recommend coming, maybe a little earlier in the day. The shop is kind of dirty and unkept, every time I order they are out of the first three ideas I come up with. This cute Korean boba spot is located in college town lawrence KS, my boyfriend and I were looking around and happen to come across this very hidden gem ! Although Parking is always a struggle in this area there is always off the street parking. But anyway back to the location. It is super cute light pink inside with a really soft vibe inside with a lot of drink choices! I enjoy their tea, and think its really tasty. However, the atmosphere in general feels really unwelcoming a majority of the time.

My experience wasn't great but I think it's because I ordered the wrong thing or had a misunderstanding of what I was ordering. I ordered the lychee black tea with the cheese cream on top. It was weird but interesting. I had hoped for a pink drink like I've gotten at other places but this was brown. The cheese topping was offputting but oddly enough, not terrible; to be fair I'm not sure what it is exactly but I didn't hate it. I'd like to try this place again and pick a different menu item that I hope is better to my liking; that way I can give a more positive review if it qualifies. On a side note, the service wasn't friendly nor terrible. I wish the gal that had helped me had been more approachable. Of the few places we have in Lawrence, I really enjoy visiting HiTea. I've spent a lot of time in Asia where you can get really cheap milk tea (my last trip, I paid less than $1.50 for the equivalent of a venti bubble tea with boba and they were amazing). Sadly, we don't have that in Lawrence, but I've still been impressed with HiTea each time I've visited. On my last visit, I signed up for their VIP program ($5) and it gets you 10% off each purchase. It also comes with three free drinks on your birthday! Each milk tea is $5~, so I paid $5 and will get three drinks for the price of one! I'm a big price of the A4, Hong Kong milk tea. When Lawrence Kansas surprises us with a warm and breezy day, getting a nice cold drink is a no brainer. Seeing the cute sign and clean storefront on a walk downtown any boba lover would think this was the perfect place. However, after my experiences here I can say, you will be disappointed. Hi Tea is a stain on the beautiful quilt that is downtown Lawrence. From its overworked employees, to its grimy interior, and inconsistent quality, it deserves this two star review. There is rarely more than one person behind the counter actually making orders. To add to the issue, the few people that are working can be rude and dismissive. In one visit, my mother and I went in for smoothies. When she put her straw through the cup's seal it went straight through the plastic bottom and spilled the cold contents all over her and the counter. The woman behind the counter practically threw napkins at her, not even attempting to help us clean up the purple mess. Because of the lack of adequate staff there is almost always a collection of customers waiting for their orders, unfortunately the waiting is not a pleasant experience when the area is unkept and uninviting. Instead of a typical, cute, and relaxed boba shop, you get an assortment of wild colors and skeptical design choices. What surprised me the most was that the inside of the shop was Paris themed. There are crooked pictures all over the bright pink walls and many unrelated figures such as bears and robots on the unwiped tables. the overall aesthetic does not fit that of a boba tea shop or match each other. The couch is covered in stains and crumbs from past boba drinkers and there are napkins and straw wrappers lying around or spilling out of the overfilled trash cans. To make matters even worse the quality of the drinks do not make up for the dirty appearance or bad customer service. Whether it be a tea-less and lukewarm "Milk Tea", inadequately cooked boba or an unblended smoothie. I am not alone in being disappointed by the quality or flavor of an order at HiTea. Despite the frequent disappointments, on a good day I have gotten drinks I was happy with such as the acia smoothie or sunset flower teas, but the fact is the risk of wasted money or appetite is just not worth it. Based on the lack of workers, unsettling interior, and poor quality, it seems that HiTea will never fully live up to the expectations of a true boba tea shop, and that is why it deserves this generous two star review. read more

I'm not sure how I feel about their boba though. Their boba is really small in size and is slimy rather than chewy. There are 3-4 tables and a giant teddy bear by the seating area. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! I always try to be understanding while going out, but these 2 people who were working there were bothered by us wanting to give them business. They were on their phones the entire time while even making our teas. We attempted to order 3 different kinds of boba that they said they were out of, so maybe update your sign for your customers, instead of worrying about your game score on your phone? My daughter accidentally dropped her tea right by the door, so I asked for a towel so we could clean up the mess. I was told not to worry about it and they proceeded to sit back down on their phone. I sincerely hope that we were the last customers that night, because neither of them moved to clean it up, while we sat in our car drinking our teas for 10 minutes. I have NEVER experienced such disregard for a business on Mass, as I did here. If this is a family owned company, they should REALLY reconsider their business options. read more

A little dirty, however, as you can see some of the inside kitchen area spilling into the restaurant space with boxes of ingredients stacked up by a narrow hallway. Only been here once and have made it a point to try again before I write this place off. I tried their milk tea with boba: disappointing. Their tea is very obviously made with powder as it was a little chalky when you drink it and didn't taste like black tea/earl grey/oolong or anything (take in mind, I didn't specify what kind of tea, I just ordered regular milk tea which is usually black tea). Also their boba was not the normal large, chewy boba pearls I'm used to. They were smaller, maybe could fit through a regular-sized straw? I've seen pictures of better looking drinks that I'll have to try next time I'm in Lawrence. The menu is not complete from what I've experienced. On the wall there's the staple drink flavors, but on Yelp and online you see stuff that's not listed on there (and they look better too). read more

Had to wait long for my drink to be prepared about 15-20 mins. First one of the staff took orders for roughly 9 drinks, while the other staff in the back was doing who knows what. After the orders were taken the drinks were made and I was late to my meeting. I understand the business during COVID-19 has shorten staff, but I'm just frustrated that once orders were taken the other staff could've started the drinks. The cups and bag was very cute. Some ingredients weren't available especially dragonfruit because it wasn't in season. The drinks were alright, but not super delicious or anything. Good bubble tea/boba will be back for more. My husband and I got a mountain high green milk tea and a Roasted Oolong Milk tea with Boba as well as a Budapest Peach Sap Flower tea. The traditional style teas where great. The Budapest Peach Sap Flower tea was interesting, mellow in flavor and a bit sweet like a hard candy flavor. The pulp was an interesting texture. I definitely recommend the Royal Centon Milk Tea. Great bubble tea and I'm picky about my bubble tea. I wondered if this place would be as good as House of Cha, which is my favorite. So far, I love it! The more good bubble tea choices in Lawrence, the better!
