First of all I would like to say we were very excited to finally sit here. We like to try all of the different areas at the park. This one just did not live up to what we thought it would. I will say that the $18 credit makes it a bit more bearable, but still did not quite make up for it. I had purchased the front row up against the glass thinking they were great seats. The view was great, but everyone else around us didn't pay to sit there? People just migrated around and sat wherever. Which is fine as I guess they do that all over the park. We ordered nachos which everything that you order in there is a huge portion. Service was nothing less of terrible, most servers walked around with a scowl on their face and were not friendly(which is weird at the park). Took forever to get our order in and even when we said we needed a minute we got a half hour. The sound inside was terrible. We couldn't hear anything that was going on with the game. The seats were very uncomfortable. I was overall not impressed at all with the indoor portion of the cafe. We are sitting outside in a week with a group and I hope the service is better. I imagine the sound will be better as well. But out of all the places I have sat in the park(which is close to every area), this was my least favorite. Even if there was a food credit. I missed out on my Godzilla dog. Nachos were ok, they were like 7-11 nachos on crack. Between the two of us we could not finish them. It may be for some, but not us. How did I not know about this? This restaurant is in the ballpark and open to anyone at the game as long as it hasn't been rented out for an event. My husband and I had reasonably priced drinks and fairly decent food (he had wings, I had the spicy chicken sandwich) for the whole game -- and a better view than if we had sat in our assigned seats. It's also a pretty exciting experience seeing the home runs coming so close! I would totally come through here again when we next come to a game. The server was really kind but they were clearly understaffed so don't expect really attentive or fast service. But for a slow dinner while watching the game, it was a win for us! read more

I used to love to eat here. It was fun and it was good. Now, the young workers in there are the best. The hostess, shirt-haired African-American woman who was our waitress, were awesome. The food was shockingly bad. The appetizer nachos were fine. But the presentation made it extremely difficult to eat. It was like playing culinary Jenga. Ive been visiting Safeco since opening day, and this was our first trip to Hit it here With tickets in the front row. Pros- Service was good and quick. Selection was great and food we ordered was decent. $11.50-13.50 for beer was a huge turn off. Tickets were $44 with each ticket getting $18 food credit. Cons- FREEZING inside. It was 64* at game time and they were blasting the AC. Sitting in the front row actually took away from the game. You couldn't hear the stadium, you couldn't see jumbo tron, couldnt hear announcer, no TV's.... So it made us feel very disconnected from the game. We left in 4th inning because we wanted to experience the baseball game. Also in our seats we had foul pole blocking most of the action views. read more

With the $18 food credit, the seats are priced at $43...I've sat in $60 seats with not the atmosphere you get in HIHC. Food is good. If you don't like what's on menu, eat before and drink up your credit. We've had good service. It gets busy, but we haven't had an issue. I usually select a craft brew in this area and on Sunday I had a sugar snap pea salad on leafy greens with a veggie dog cut up and put on top to get in a dose of protein. Before the season started, there was a lot of hype about all of the new menu options at Safeco Field this year. In one place I read, it stated most of the new meal items would be in the Hit it Here Cafe and that they would have a pretty expansive menu of upscale options. My friend Ron M. and I went to the Cafe over the weekend in hopes of trying some of these more upscale menu items. However, when we arrived, there was really nothing too different on the menu than items found in other areas of the park. There were burgers, dogs, various flatbreads (a few only found there, but some of them were easily available in other areas of the park), etc. There were some appetizers and salads not found elsewhere, but nothing really excited our taste buds too much. We started out with the Clam Dip, which was...a bit odd. It was very thin, almost like a clam chowder, and had hardly any chunks of clam or anything else, really. It was pretty sub-par. For entrees, I went with the Calabrian flatbread and Ron had the BBQ chicken. The BBQ chicken was far better, but neither were particularly great. The dough was too thick to be a flatbread, in my opinion, and both pizzas were quite oily. My pizza had little-to-no flavor. The only thing really worth writing home about was the lemonade, which was super tasty and flavorful. Overall, I was pretty disappointed. Service was really friendly, but fairly slow at the end. Our food came out quickly, but trying to get our check and leave took a bit longer than necessary. Prices are quite high, especially for the quality of the food. I can't finish this review without mentioning the view, however, which is obviously outstanding. It's probably what bumps this review up to a 3. Overall, I highly doubt I will be back. When my boyfriend suggested the Hit it Here Cafe while at the Mariners game, I wasn't convinced on trying it. I thought, "We are at a baseball game! We should be getting stadium food, not sitting at a restaurant!" It's a lot smaller than I thought. The rows of seats are staggered from the window, with the first few rows being for customers with actual game tickets in that seat. We were seated in the first row of tables on the lower level, behind those ticket holder seats. Big glass windows make it easy to watch the game - unless the sun is setting (like it was) and the glare is so bad you find yourself just watching the game on one of the TV's. I didn't even watch the first 3 innings of the game while we were in there. Too hard to see out the window with the sun, and trying to carry on a conversation while watching a game on TV and trying to eat isn't as easy as it sounds. The service was okay. She was slow, kinda seemed like she was new. Didn't really interact with us much, but that is okay - she was very friendly. She was able to get our order in quickly and correctly, and made sure to check on us as needed with refills on drinks. The food was pretty good. Burgers are not made to order, all come cooked well done. I got the Hit It Here Burger ($14). It was big, the vegetables were fresh, and it just looked delicious. Came with a hearty amount of fries with it as well. The only complaint I had was that it was really dry as it was pretty well done, and there was no sauce of any kind on the burger. I added some BBQ sauce though and that seemed to help a little. My boyfriend got the Bacon & Egg Burger ($15) and said it was great as well, and very filling. Honestly, I probably won't come back. This review is based on the Hit it Here cafe, and not on the Mariners or Safeco field in general... An average ticket in the Hit it Here Cafe will cost $50 a person, this does include $15 in food credit, which can be used on beer. This makes the cost in reality about $35 if you know you will be buying food or beer. Having a table and a less cramped area to watch the game though is the only thing this place has going for it. It sure is nice to have room to move and a table to sit food and other items on during the game. The food is basic and like all other ball park food is very overpriced. The service is acceptable, but nothing outstanding and if it was truly meant to be full service could be considered poor. Having unlimited free water refils to your table would sure be nice though on a hot day! One down side to the Hit it Here cafe though is you really feel allianted from the ball park noise. You are in a sense in your own area and you cant here the cheers of the fans, the popcorn vendors ect...In addition, during late evening games, the sun will be shining directly in your eyes. Overall, I would recommend getting a $35 dollar seat in the stadium and either buying food from the many concession stands or better yet just eating outside of the park. read more

This review is for the counter seats facing the field. The four top tables where you sit sideways to the game is a much different experience and not a good one. The counter seats are very fun and comfortable. Food is good for a sporting event. If this was an outside restaurant this would NOT be a four star review but that said, we always look forward to the Hit It Here Cafe and it is really my favorite place to watch a game. We actually had Club Level seats that we sold as we wanted to sit here instead. Service can be very slow but you are not going anywhere for 3 to 4 hours. To quote Michael Bluth, I don't know what I expected? It's stadium food. I guess I hoped at minimum my food would be free of VISIBLE contaminants that are a choking hazard. I had the Brussels sprout salad which was good but mine came with a secret ingredient of a big piece of plastic wrap. I mean, I am not a sensitive person, I am a firm adherent to the five second rule, so it didn't really gross me out and I finished the salad but some people might get really skeeved and they didn't offer to get me a new salad or comp the salad which I thought was not the best customer service. The waitress when I showed her the plastic just kind of waved it off and said it was part of the salad packaging. Even so. Accidents happen but I feel like they should have offered me a new salad. If it's park of the packaging that means that it would have come into contact with numerous surfaces, hands, etc. that's not ideal. read more

I describe myself as "passionately apathetic" about sports. We attended the Mariners' game only because my wife wanted to (we walked from our Belltown apartment). We purchased the cheapest seats, using my military discount. Our plan was to have an early dinner in this restaurant, then return to our assigned seats, which we did. Yes, I'm male and not a sports fan. I'm not gay, and I'm not a traitor (I'm a retired Navy Commander, among other things. My Navy pilot career was spent mostly in combat units). I love this country and I love my wife. I just take no pleasure in vicariously reveling in the glory of people who are financial whores. Professional sports is a business -- nothing more. I have my own identify, and needn't assume the mantle of a professional sports team to have one. In retrospect, a better plan for our outing would have been to purchase tickets for the restaurant. Those cost $45, and give you a reserved eating spot that overlooks the stadium, with a fine view of the game (for those who care about it). It also includes a $18 food credit. I believe it also includes a seat in the stadium. Why use that seat, when you already have a great view of the game? In comparison, we paid $27 each for our cheapest tickets (pretty good seats, though nearly in the stratosphere), using the military discount. Add in an $18 food credit, and the total charge would be $45 -- the same as having a great view of the game from a reserved seat in the restaurant. Otherwise, you're banished to the bar-type tables with no view of the game, as we were. This fits into the category of a "no-brainer", if you're planning to buy food at the stadium. As for the restaurant, our server was only occasionally seen. We actually had better service from another server, who passed by our table. I slipped him a few bucks, for taking good care of us, when we weren't at this table. That was deducted from our server's tip. The food was best described as "okay", but certainly not great. Prices were surprisingly less obscene than I expected, though still more than restaurant prices (not a surprise, given the nature of it). Standards for food acceptability are significantly different when camping, flying on an airline, or trying to survive a major natural disaster. With that qualifier, our fish-and-chips meal and burger were okay -- by sports stadium standards. In a normal restaurant, I would have complained to the manager. Don't come here for a gourmet meal -- come for the experience of watching the Mariners be humiliated by whatever team is visiting Seattle. For drinks, your best bet is to go to the bartender yourself. Otherwise, you'll be frustrated by the casual service. **IF** I were to attend another Mariners game (unlikely, though I'd like to watch a Rainiers game), I'd definitely purchase the restaurant package, if I were planning to eat at the stadium. "It ain't great", but it's a heckuva lot better than standing in those long lines for over-priced food and drink. When one considers the crowds at bars and restaurants near Safeco Field, this isn't a bad alternative -- really! For those who care about such things (we certainly do), the credit card charges are attributed to "Restaurants - Catering". I dunno if Costco's CitiBank Visa will call that a restaurant (3% rebate) or "other" (1% rebate). I couldn't tell from our on-line account. We'll need to wait until we receive the statement in the mail. Otherwise, I'll use a different card (2.5% rebate for everything) if we return here (unlikely). BTW, the stadium Wi-Fi sucks. I appreciate the effort, but it's inadequate. I used a portable hotspot (Verizon, if anyone cares). I'll attach pix of the menus, if Yelp will allow. read more

Never got served. After 30 minutes of waiting, I asked a passing server, who said our server would be Jerrin and he would let him know we were waiting. I saw him talk to our server, which did nothing to improve our situation. I watched as he casually chatted with several people. We were a party of 6, so too hard not to notice. The same server noticed we were still waiting and went to speak with him again. At this point, it must have upset him because he made it a point to not even look our way as he did nothing but stand near the host station. I spoke to the manager and let him know our situation. He offered to serve our table himself. We declined and decided to take our business elsewhere. I've been to this cafe many times previous and have always had great service. Since I will be in S.F. attending my brother's wedding for Father's Day this year, my wife got me and my dad tickets to the Hit It Here Cafe for this past Saturday. First off this place is a P.I.T.A. to get to if you don't drive. We entered the Left Field Entrance, as we walked from Downtown, and we had to slither through the crowd and then walk up a couple spirals in the ramp near the Right Field Entrance to find the place. Whatever, it's all part of the fun. Yet, if I had to do that for multiple games that would get very old very fast. The restaurant was nice looking. We got the counter seats, not the tables, and it was easy to tell the tables' views were not the great whereas the counter views were excellent. The menu was a little meager and the food was good, but not great. That may be just because I was wimpy and got a burger. It was nice to have food and a table during the game. I always get tired of having to either get there early get all the food for the game or getting up during an inning to get food. I also hate having to balance the food tray on my legs hoping the M's don't do anything good that would warrant me standing and cheering :-/ As has been said, the service was a little spotty, but we were in no hurry and we weren't leaving. Overall it was a very fun experience and I would definitely comeback. Oh yeah, the $18 voucher included in the ticket is great. My parents brought me to a Mariners game for my birthday one year and they got us seats at the Hit It Here Cafe. We had a fantastic time! The food was the delicious and the seats were pretty awesome! Sweet view. I had a burger, fries, and some fruity drink that I can't remember exactly what it was. Delicious though! I guess my parents had told them that we were celebrating my birthday and our server made it extra special for us. It was a great time. It's too bad we don't live in Washington anymore because this is something we probably would have loved to have done more often. For special occasions anyway. We sat here on Sunday for the Rays vs Mariners game. The views weren't bad, except you could not see the outfield below you. So whenever balls were hit to the outfield I found myself having to look at the live TV to see if it was caught (with the time delay) which was super annoying. I'd sit in the bleachers again before Hit it Here Cafe due to the view blockage for parts of the field. Aside from that, it does block the sun and stays very cool up there. It was filled with many older fans, which made it somewhat boring, quiet and chill perhaps. Pros to sitting here: Having someone serve you food and drinks so you don't have to get up or miss any of the game. This is always a nice perk! The nachos were HUGE! They could literally feed 4 people. I liked the cocktails and they had a decent selection of beers in bottle but few on draft. There are more exciting draft selections around the park. I had no complaints with our service, as I had seen in other reviews, and found our particular server very attentive. Overall, not a bad place to sit if you are looking for something chill and quiet.
