We have been coming here for a while now. Ordered a frappe this time. It consisted of sweetened condensed milk, espresso beans and chocolate chips. It is amazing! Not too sweet, just right. We have had their breakfast sandwiches & pastries as well & they are all delicious. Today we had the chicken salad on croissant bread. Delicious! The young man that helped us was very nice, friendly & attentive. We always try to pick up some amazing coffee & a quick bite to eat when we are in the neighborhood. Great coffee and service! Tried two of their summer flavors: iced cherry blossom latte (oat milk) and churro frappe (decaf). Cherry blossom latte has a very light but great flavor. Subbed oat milk as they were out of 2% but the flavor still came through. Not too sweet which is my preference. My husband enjoyed his churro frappe - made it decaf for health reasons but still had a great flavor of cinnamon and milk. Great space for working - lots of low tables, low volume chill music, and space to sit on the first and second floor. We were on vacation visiting family and are so glad we stopped by this coffee shop on our way out. Show this community coffee shop some love! Stop by for a coffee, stay for the atmosphere. read more

I love this cozy, quaint, sweet little coffee shop in downtown Springfield! My son and I stopped in late Saturday morning and expected it to be busy but we were the only customers there. The staff was kind, the menu is perfect for a quick bite or sip, and they even have a few local items for sale (I bought a hat!). I enjoyed the ginger herbal tea (they had a handful of hot teas to choose from). Such a convenient location! The inside was so clean and the restrooms were, also. I'll be back asap! read more

When my boyfriend and I started dating, he would send me coffee from Historic Perk to the hospital while I was working. Fast forward 3 years and we got engaged at Historic Perk. It was a beautiful surprise party. The staff and owners are so friendly and kind. We even got married upstairs. Not only is the coffee amazing, the atmosphere holds a special place in my heart. I had heard such good things about this spot! So glad I was in the area on such a beautiful Saturday! Historic Perk, your Cuban AND Cortado are the Holy Grail of all that is coffee. Please please please pretty please could you come to Clarksville and show the folks here how it should be done? It is more than mere Java...it is a cup of morning dreams and aspirations....I'm over here inventing excuses to come to Springfield now, just to stop in and be greeted by your wonderful crew. The store is clean and cozy, the coffee incredible. I have yet to try your food but one day I shall sit in a corner with a good book, order a sammich and tell y'all to keep the Cortados coming... I am going solely on my daughters comments. She is a teacher at Krisle and Historic Perk delivered all the teachers lunch. THAT in itself is OUTSTANDING !!!!! We have had many salad spread from several places and her opinion is they are exceptionally good. She as well have had their coffees, and highly recommend them. I placed an order and didn't receive all my order. She gave me one of the coffees I ordered and when I asked which 1 it was she said "yes". I looked at her oddly and asked which 1? Then she stated the second coffee I ordered. I thought it was odd and continued to wait. Finally after getting my food and not MY coffee (the first thing I ordered) I asked where my mocha was. There was another man mopping the floor in the cafe where, it appeared, someone had dropped a coffee. The girl serving did not acknowledge my presence and took several minutes to make the smoothie. A line developed behind me. When she eventually served me, there was no apology for the delay. So, I ordered my coffee and walked away to await its arrival. The girl seems to have abandoned the manufacturing side of things and spent the next few minutes taking orders. I was about ready to give up and ask for a refund. But, at that same time, Joe Mop put his mop into a bucket, leaned it against a table, went into the serving area, and, shortly thereafter began to fill orders. He needed to ask me what I had ordered. I told him. He made a game attempt at making it...but, sadly he failed...miserably! The coffee was terrible. And, the one thing you can't afford to do when you have a coffee shop, is to make crap coffee. I have been to one other Kroger based Starbucks and it was equally awful. I like Starbucks stand-alone cafes, but their cafes in supermarkets are staffed by people who seem to lack training, have little regard for the brand, have no real understanding of hygiene, and little in the way of manners and service. Starbucks...protect your brand. Either train these people to address the above complaints, or shut the damned supermarket cafes down. It will protect you in the long run.

This place is not good, and that's me being kind. I have been here a few times and had a negative experience every time. The first time, I didn't pay a lot of attention to how my coffee was being made because I was looking around the building, which is really nice. The baristas, while clearly all teenagers, were pleasant. My coffee was, undrinkable. I have mad respect for people who try to source locally (even though Franklin isn't exactly local), but whoever is roasting their coffee is not doing a good job. It tasted like lemon dish soap, and my wife's was equally disgusting. We threw both coffees away. I know that we drink black coffee, so I have high expectations because it isn't covered in sugar and cream, but if your coffee is terrible to start, and you have to hide it to make it drinkable, maybe you need different coffee. The second time I went, I ordered a cappuccino with almond milk. While the barista was pulling my espresso, she used her BARE HAND to tamp the ground beans. The drink took over 20 minutes to come out, had that same lemon cleaner undertone, and I'm pretty sure that the barista used regular milk because I got sick later (or maybe that was from germs on her hand). The last time, I ordered iced coffee because they don't offer cold brew. So, I'm paying for yesterdays coffee that didn't sell, essentially, and I add a shot of espresso to it since it doesn't have as much caffeine as cold brew. Again, the barista (different girl, mind you) used her finger to level out the espresso, wiped her finger on her jeans, and put it back into the espresso. I know that the people who work here are nice, but they have absolutely zero knowledge of basic sanitation, and the coffee is awful. Anyone who has ever worked in a restaurant knows not to touch anything with your unwashed bare hands! Oh, and the "handmade" pastries are frozen Otis Spunkemeyer muffins, the kind that you buy from a gas station. And on top of all of that, it's the most expensive coffee in town! I don't know how these people are allowed to sell anything when they clearly don't know the first thing about food safety. If you're looking for a place where to relax and read some novels or whatever, this coffee shop would be the best. They have the best coffee available and even some fresh baked goods as well. The ambiance of this shop was so relaxing, and the staffs are highly capable and super friendly. The décor is on point with the historic part of the building its in on town square. great lightning and has a nook up front if you prefer natural light. Awesome super cute coffee shop in historic downtown Springfield. A must stop if you are in the area. I had the Cuban coffee and it was delightful. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Wish this was on my way to work, I would love to get my morning coffee there. Very clean establishment and the decorations make it a comfy enjoyable place to read a book while you have a latte. Prices are very reasonable. read more

I have been coming to this place for years now, I danced with the owners daughter and I would come in with my Aunt after we were done with dance. The space is not small, but cozy (see what they did there!?), rustic, charming, eclectic, moody, local and vibey...and even with all those things, it maintains the classic coffee house feel. Inside there are three unique spaces where you can hang out. Two are tables for more formal seating, while the front room is outfitted with plush chairs and a sofa, allowing for more relaxed hang outs. Then outside there are great patios on the front and back, featuring varieties of seating and even a fire pit! The menu is classic coffee shop with an expanded food menu beyond your standard pastries and breakfast sandwiches. They have a fun variety of toasts, sliders and BYO flatbreads. While I only got coffee, the place smelled amazing and I saw several plates that made me reconsider not getting a snack! And speaking of the coffee, I went with an Iced Smores Mocha, and it was delicious! The toasted marshmallow was not too overwhelming, which I was afraid about, but they layered it perfectly! Service was super welcoming, helpful and friendly. Overall, loved my time at The Cozy Nook! This place is an absolute gem and worth the visit!
