My family and I went to the Grapefest this past weekend and we had a great time! It was a very big set up even with the carnival rides! The prices for the drinks were surprisingly low for festivals/events. The only thing was that it was very crowded and humid, but those are two things they can't really control. The ticket price for the entry was also very low. The historic downtown itself is very charming and has an old/antique sort of feel while remaining to be modern and clean. I definitely enjoyed walking into some of the unique stores. Definitely recommend a visit to the historic downtown whether it be for a festival or just a stroll. read more

Main Street makes me happy. Sometimes when I need to get out, I just walk Main Street. I'm a fan of the stationery store, the kitchen gadget shop, Napoli's italian restaurant with gelato counter, and the home decor shops. Right now, the gazebo has a really spectacular light show.. I mean synchronized blinking dancing crazy Christmas lights. It's like mini Disney world and free.. go see it!! Also check out the cool penguins/polar bears by the restored log cabin. They're doing kid stuff on Fridays from 2 to 6 pm and Saturday and Sundays for Christmas. Some sort of playing games with elves mularkey. An historic downtown with plenty of eateries, shopping, museums, and events to keep a family busy for days. The downtown area stretches about one mile, and has some pretty cool unique options to have fun. The Palace Theater shows classic films every Friday night (Citizen Kane, Godzilla, Raider of the Lost Ark, Goonies) and is very affordable ($5 admission and $1 popcorn). Don't expect dolby surround sound and HD screen on this trip- it's all about nostalgia. The semi-comfortable seats and sticky floors are included! There's a downtown museum to browse on a hot, muggy day. I saw plenty of antique shops and wineries to taste the local juice. I've eaten at Tolbert's which is a classic tavern / restaurant with great comfort food options and live music most weekend nights. There's a little something for everyone here, so check it out if you're hungry and in the area. The Grapevine Railroad offers some cool fun for the family- each Saturday at 10a you can take a 1-hour ride around the Grapevine Colleyville area. It's great for the kids, and nice for the adults when the weather is just right. You can also take the longer journey to the Fort Worth Stockyards (1 hour each way); this trip allows you to walk around the Stockyards for a few hours- there's even a train robbery on the way in! I've noticed that downtown also hosts many annual/seasonal events. Right now there's a pretty decent farmer's market Thursday thru Sunday most of the day. There's also Main Street Days in May and Grapefest (the largest wine festival in Southwest) to keep patron busy. The main reason for 4 stars versus 5 is that the place can get really, really crowded on most days- the parking is not ideal, but there's also a lot of tourists. I can see how the locals might get a little crazy with the parking and crowds. read more

I absolutely love little historic downtowns like this. Perfect way to spend the day especially when the weather is nice. Plus being in Grapevine, there are the best wineries over here as well. You can grab lunch, have some wine, then head over for shopping in the cute little boutiques that they have. I have never had issues with parking here. There are street parking spots, and a parking lot area too. They also have a lot of random events that come up like Grapefest, Summer Blast, and even a Farmer's Market. read more

Absolutely stunning! When we are on our way to the Grapevine Mills mall, we always take the "slow way" and take the drive through old Historic Downtown Grapevine. Beautiful little shops with old train cars, gardens, and statues. During Christmas, this place is magnificent! Every building is covered from head to toe with lights and they bring in elves on stilts, Santa Clause and reindeer for the children to pet. This place is a MUST visit in the DFW area! read more

What a great little place. I know it's buried in all the new convention centers and resorts, but Historic Downtown Grapevine has managed to stay cute and stay busy. If you get a chance to go before the holidays are over I suggest you do so. They are having some sort of activity every weekend until Christmas. The stores are all cherry, they have some kid friendly events such as Santa on stilts playing "Santa Says," which I lost. We walked around for about two hours and had a super time. There are wineries and tasting rooms...of course. There are boutiques and antique stores, candy shops and a tea room. Also, there are several places who specialize in Texas flavored items. And FYI, if you love the cookies that come in a Cookie Bouquet, they have one of those downtown that will sell you a cookie and a scoop of two of Blue Bell on the cheap. Highly recommend heading up there before the holidays are over. read more

I lived near Grapevine for years, and always loved going to their downtown. Best restaurant is Big Fish on Main Street, but it got much more crowded when they built the huge hotels on the nearby lake. Loved the festivals especially GrapeFest. read more

Smack-dab in suburbia, you have lively historic downtown Grapevine. This organic of a district is hard to come by in DFW. We love this place so much we moved just down the street. It's not perfect, but it's as close as it gets in the DFW metroplex. You have 3-4 blocks of boutique clothing stores, gift markets, excellent restaurants, a bakery/coffee shop, wineries, and some small parks (the gazebo park), as well as a small local grocery store (The Farmer's Market store) in addition to the seasonal outdoor farmer's market and artisan's markets. Drivers here are generally more cognizant than at other places of pedestrians--there are numerous marked crosswalks. The library and Rec center and a new craft brewery are just down the street. Only downsides are the heat in the summertime, especially the western sun blaring down on the east-facing shops, and the slight lack of diversity of shops (lots of wineries and boutiques and nick-knack stores). Could use a book store or kids store, or some ethnic restaurants. There is an arts area with a glass-blower shop that sells arts and also has shows to entertain the kids (and adults). The Grapevine-Stockyards train starts mid-February here and runs through December. It is great fun for an afternoon. Overall, downtown Grapevine is an excellent find you can spend a 1/2 a day easily in, or more if you explore some of the trails and parks in the Grapevine area. read more

On Saturday, we were out and about checking out some of the 4th of July events, got lost, and ended up in Downtown Grapevine. The quaint storefronts beckoned so we ended up staying and wandering through the antique shops, boutiques, galleries, and tasting rooms. Great place to spend a day wining and wandering. A great little spot to entertain out-of-towners or take a break from the Dallas hustle and bustle to stroll down the strip and enjoy the sights and spirits. Convenient to DFW Airport, some great hotels and Grapevine Mills Mall, historic downtown Grapevine offers something for everyone. Tourists will love the events, the arts and crafts, the history and lore, and the vintage shops. Locals will enjoy the seasonal activities and growing food scene. Visited Grapevine for Christmas time last year and it was magical. Everywhere were decorations, lights, Christmas boutique stores with many unique items. I got to see the grinch and they had fake snow. I like how they've kept the history, culture and older buildings. Several wineries and great restaurants :) read more

I love Grapevine and the cute little downtown. If I moved out of Fort Worth and wanted a smaller town, it would be Grapevine. Grapevine has plenty to offer other than Great Wolf Lodge. There is wineries, tours, a dinner theater, glass blowing, arts center, restaurants, and cute boutiques. There is a Vintage railroad that will take you all the way to the Stockyards in Fort Worth. I hope one day to take my kids to Nash Farm and take a ride on the train. Grapefest and Mainstreet Fest are on my list of "hope to dos" Grapevine is also called the Christmas Capital of Texas. They have it all decorated and it's lovely to see. Definitely a nice area for a Staycation. read more

Downtown Grapevine is a great place to spend a weekend day. Tons of free parking, a cute little farmers market , many shops and places to grab a glass of wine. We enjoyed lunch at a little Italian restaurant followed by dessert at the small bakery across the street. They must have relaxed liquor rules, even the bakery offered wine choices on the menu! Score. I have to give props to the shop called "Merry's Christmas and Clowns", could they have come up with a creepier name? I didn't go in due to my fear of clowns, but really, who else has a shop named that? Grapevine hosts a lot of festivals throughout the year, you can always find something to do. If you are looking for a fun day trip this might be a good destination. read more

went on a saturday around 1pm and found lots to do as well as ample parking. They have a farmers market and a craft market every saturday and they were open until 2pm. Which is great for people that can't get up and moving on a weekend. I was there with my 9month old and i was worried that i wouldn't be able to maneuver all the cute little shops with my MEGA BABY STROLLER. but it was very easy to get in and out of the shops. I"m a bit paranoid about being the lady with the giant baby stroller but i didn't feel like i was blocking up aisles as there was plenty of space. Lots of cute antique shops, house/gift/jewelry shops and when i have more time i'd like to go into the designer resale shops. who wouldn't want to find a bargain on a LV or something right? Traffic was nuts on 26 trying to get down there from the north, so i suggest coming in on main street from the south off of 121/114 if you can. read more

Oh the cuteness! We recently had a lovely evening here in downtown Grapevine. We had dinner at Mi Dia and were looking for something to do afterwards. The downtown area is just down the street so off we went. Let me tell ya, they don't call themselves the "Christmas Capital of Texas" for nothing. The have the place all decked out. So festive! The streets are lined with cute little shops and restaurants. There is ample parking all throughout the area. We found street parking no problem. We even caught a dog parade which was the cutest thing I've seen all year. I am so bummed I didn't know about this little gem sooner! Definitely check it out! read more

Cute and historic, the best time to visit is during Christmas at night. They have a lot of lights and decor, also known as the christmas capital. The "downtown" runs long ways as one street and not so much a square (like historic downtown Mckinney per se). They don't have the best food in this area - i find theyre expensive or the food isn't that good. There are a lot of shops for all sorts of services like shoe repair or tailors and a lot of souvenir shops or markets, although many of these shops are closed by night, so people really come for the lights and the atmosphere. In my opinion the "christmas capital" title is a lotta bit of a stretch. There were big lights and big decor everywhere but i wouldn't say it's the christmas location to go in Texas read more

I wasn't impressed by this place. The overall downtown area is great with how it looks and the history it has. As for the stores, there wasn't much there. I know for people who drink this place might be a great place for you, but I personally don't drink so there wasn't much for me to do. And for a Saturday night with a bunch of bars, everything was closed or going to close (I went at 7 & left a little after 8) There was a pastry/bakery store there and I went in to check it out, and I was waiting in line and this wasted stuck up woman comes and cuts in front of everyone with her friend to order, and the person I was with said, "So, I guess none of us are here standing in line and you can just cut to order?" And the lady turned to us and started saying how we shouldn't talk underneath our breath (even though they said it pretty loud) and must "be nice" to be so cynical and rude to other people and who do we think we are for talking to her like that and do we know who she is and all this other stuff. She was clearly drunk with her friend and causing a scene and none of the workers did anything and people were laughing at her and just laughing at everything because I think they were drinking too, it was just awkward. It seems like a place for older people to go to feel like a college kid again. I'm 22, and this place wasn't for me. Too many posh-thinking people thinking they were bad-a's for being there in such a "hip" place. read more

Mrs. B and I spent some quality time in Downtown Grapevine during Grapefest, and we really enjoyed ourselves. I was trying to keep her distracted with glasses of local wine, so we didn't spend too much in the boutique shops along main street. There is some very interesting stuff to find there, so it could be a shopper's haven. However, there are quality dining and entertainment options as well, from catching a movie at the vintage theater to scarfing a "bowl of red" at Tolbert's. Good times. read more

I made my annual visit to Main Street Days festival today Saturday May 18. My how things have changed. I bought my ticket and went to the entrance where I was stopped by power happy security people. Yes indeed, the gates are no longer staffed by volunteers, they are now hired guns. I watched as they rummaged through ladies handbags as if everyone was up to something. I had my usual water bottle of cold ozark. The security man said I could not bring that in. I took a big sip and asked why I wasn't allowed to do so. He said in his power voice. "We don't know what's inside of that bottle, it could be anything." I said I always have been able to bring my water. He said not anymore, that got real security running the gates now. What a power trip. Main street is a neat and fun place, But this was like being at a large city event with security speaking to families like they were criminals. I thought I moved away from that Big City attitude but now Grapevine has adopted it also. Oh well I still love living here in Grapevine. read more

One of the things I love about Grapevine is that it is not only beautiful but they have such a nice variety of shops and restaurants. I was raised in a small town which reminds me of Grapevine but unfortunately my old town was updated and now only consists of high dollar shops...not Grapevine. There are several options for all price ranges. We parked at a mexican restaurant and enjoyed lunch prior to shopping so I am not sure of other parking options or issues. The day we visited we noticed was during a wine festival of some sort but we could not figure out how to participate so we just enjoyed the shops! Great little area that I highly recommend visiting. read more

One of my favorite places to visit in DFW. We have been going there for years and really like it. It does seem to be catching on even more and more every year and the main part of the street has expanded a little more in each direction every year. It is definitely one of the best places to take out of towners just to hang out, maybe have a glass of wine, window shop, and there are a number of good restaurants. read more

Great fun but get there as early as possible. Crowds are thick by 11am. Parking shuttles are the way to avoid traffic jams and problem parking availability. Shopped for unique Christmas gifts and great wine tasting. A must do event with friends!!! read more

I love Grapevine also! Pledged to support the local businesses by buying most my gifts this year downtown instead of on Amazon. Sadly the Grapevine police are running a speed trap on 114 onto Main Street. They're not giving warnings despite this area being newly opened following lengthy construction closure so unfamiliar to many of us. I should have stayed home and shopped Amazon, would have been much much less expensive. Shame on you Grapevine! Others be warned. You may want to take your business elsewhere. read more
