I had 2 guys come out for 3 hours. They did an amazing job. I had a lot of weeds and over grown weed trees cut down. I'm very happy with results. read more

I would 100% use his workmanship again. Tim and Finley were a first class cleanup crew! My backyard was a jungle of disgusting weeds and they did a great job cleaning and trimming everything that I needed. Extremely happy! Will definitely hire again. read more

Quality work, good use of time. Would hire them again, to be sure. Definitely worth hiring!

Theses guys were great! I had some serious weeding issues, Dylan and Trent took care of everything. they were very easy going, brought the tools for the job, and like that the lawn and backyard are looking fantastic. read more

These guys were amazing. After traveling for weeks on end and the 4th of July coming my yard had so many weeds in the beds and just general overgrowth that needed immediate attention. In less than 24 hours, through email, we figured it out, they came and cleaned up everythung, on July 3rd. Tim worked his butt off and truly appreciated the efforts. read more

They offered a referral discount. I thought the credit would go to my friend, she also thought this. But it was for me, and because I didn't mention it at time of payment I didn't get it. And I gave the workers a BIG tip. The workers were fine, but this organization is far from being Christian. read more

I only needed basic landscaping work done (trimming, putting down weed barrier, edging, and mulching) so I was not concerned about the lack of experience. They were polite and courteous and for the most part, did a good job and I thought the price was reasonable compared to a large landscaping company. However, about a week after they completed the work, I started to notice weeds coming up. I thought maybe they had just missed a few spots when putting down the weed barrier, but as more and more weeds popped up, I decided to take a look. I discovered areas where there was no weed barrier to be found. And in most areas, they did not bring the barrier all the way to the edging, which was why weeds were coming up all around the perimeter of the landscaped area. (I have to say I was a little concerned when one of the workers asked me what weed barrier was!) When I contacted the person who scheduled the project (and sent pictures), he basically told me that it was good enough. He said "It looks like the landscape fabric was installed correctly in most areas." Then he offered to have them come back at their hourly rate, so basically wanted me to pay twice for something that should have been done right the first time. If these guys were unsure of what they were doing, they should have called and gotten instructions. There also should be someone who checks their work since they are inexperienced. What kind of ethics/integrity are you teaching these kids, that if you are working for someone and you do 'good enough', it's okay? I think the saddest part about this is that they are a Christian organization. If so, I think they need to read more than just Ephesians. The bible also says, "Whatever you do, work as if you are working for the Lord." and "Glorify Him in all you do." This is not how you treat customers. Just my two cents. Hire at your own risk, or at least supervise closely. I need to go fix some landscaping now :P read more

The guys they sent out did a great job. They installed a flagstone patio for us. It was a lot of work but the workers were on time, worked hard all day, and did a great job. I will definitely use them again for the next project. read more

His Workmanship - Flagstone patio - Movers Near Me

I've used His Workmanship twice now for weeding. Both times they did an excellent job. Their standard rate is $35/hour for each person with a minimum of 3 hours. Obviously given varying jobs, you can discuss. Both times I had two young men in good shape able and willing to do the job quickly and still perform at a high quality. All I really supplied were the disposal bags and they had everything else. The second time the job wasn't as large and after they finished they wedded another area to ensure that they took up their entire time slot (since you're paying by the hour). The men were super friendly both times and I would definitely hire them again. read more

Can't recommend. Unresponsive after job was left unfished after 2 hours when they charge a 3-hour minimum. I needed my weeds pulled as I have 2 kids, work full time and hate pulling weeds. Found these guys online and thought I would give them a shot as they represent themselves as a Christian organization. It started off great with Eric responding very quickly, offering to do the job the day I put the request in. I couldn't do it the same day so we scheduled it the following week. The cost was $80/hr for two workers, minimum of 3 hours. 1 hour deposit upfront. No problem. They were very responsive through the job being "done". They checked out after 2 hours. Which is not a problem, as long as the job gets done. I get home and there were still noticeable amounts of weeds in several spots around my house. I took pictures and sent it to Eric via email seeing if we can either get an hour refund or have them come back for an hour. Then there was another email for two. Then a few phone calls with voice messages. I then resubmitted a request through the website to see if they'd contact me that way. That was Saturday last week. It is now Thursday and I haven't heard a word. I paid the balance after I got home in good faith the day-of. I've been waiting about 3 weeks trying to give them a chance to make it right before doing any sort of review. Crickets. I would not recommend. At least pay for the work you ACTUALLY get done. I am still open to Eric reaching out to rectify this. read more

They greatly misrepresented their abilities and the tools they'd bring for the job. In the end, the hedges were barely done, the weeding was never started, they didn't apply the discount for reading the bible passages, and we paid $300!! And the management has yet to respond to 3 email follow ups after the fact. BEWARE read more

I contacted this service because of their religious tone assuming I would receive an honest response. I was told 2 men would be sent out for 4 hours and that they would be able to pull out the flower beds I requested. only one man showed up ( a very hard worker) and I was told someone would return another day to give me 4 more hours since Eric said I must pay the full amount. I was a fool and did as he stipulated. after numerous attempts to get in touch with Eric , I realizes he duped me with his religious overtones. read more

Two young kids helped us move from our apartment in Glen Ellyn to our new house, also in GE. They showed up on time, got right to work, were courteous and professional. They also showed care for our stuff. I noticed one guy realize he couldn't get our bed frame upstairs by himself without dinging the walls and he carefully brought it back down and asked for his partners help. Even a professional moving company might have just gone up and scuffed up the walls. I appreciated that type of care. I would definitely recommend hiring these guys to help with moves. read more

Calvin college crew possessed limited basic landscaping skills (like how to use a shovel or a pick), they came without the agreed-upon tools, and their wheelbarrow broke. One man left our outside water faucet running and they took our rake! Mediocre service; grossly overpriced. Eric at His Workmanship was not helpful nor responsive to our concerns after the fact. read more

We have used His Workmanship 2 times with completely different experiences. The first could not have gone better! The crew was exceptional--such hard workers! With this in mind we had very high hopes for this recent visit; however, we could not be more disappointed. This crew did not seem to accomplish a whole lot in the 3 hours. Their work was sloppy--they left trimmings all over the porch and bed, and bushes were not cut cleanly (lots of uneven pieces sticking up). They did not even bring any equipment. The most frustrating part however was how things were handled from there. The His Workmanship website states very clearly that ALL email is answered within 24 hours--Eric, the owner, has always been quick to respond in terms of questions about coming out for a job, and yet, when we emailed him (2 times!) asking to discuss this recent less-than-stellar performance he completely ignored us! It's been 2 weeks and no word whatsoever. This is unacceptable customer service! Sadly, it seems, they only respond when it profits them. If we could have had a simple conversation, the company might have kept our loyalty and business! As it stands we are upset and especially disheartened from this experience--this is NOT a good reflection of HIS workmanship!! We honestly chose this company because they stand apart as an upfront Christian organization. We really love what this is supposed to be based on! The whole premise of the company leads us to believe they have integrity and are a service that stands by its work, is trustworthy, and one that treats its customers fairly. How very disappointing to be treated otherwise. From this experience we would NOT recommend using this company! read more

I am very pleased with the crew from His Workmanship. It's a very niche job to find someone to remove landscaping rock. Its very tedious work but the guys did a great job. They arrived on-time and ready to work. I will definitely keep this company in mind for future projects. read more

They do a good job - hard working guys. Make sure you are clear on your expectations of the project before they get started. I like their mission. Thank you Eric! read more

I reached out to this company to get a quote for their services for rock removal. There was disparity between costs quoted and rates listed on the website (the website says $200 fee for removal and I was told $400, double the cost). When I asked for clarity and further followed up to receive a full quote I was emailed this two word response from Eric: "Not interested." read more

Though I didn't sign with His Workmanship for my move (I needed a specialty hoisting job that is not part of their service), I was really pleased with how prompt, complete, and courteous their response was. They showed they were interested in having my business, and that makes me want to do business with them in the future. read more

Do not hire! I'm so saddened that a "Christian" company conducts themselves this way. We were absolutely taken advantage of by this company. The website states that the minimum is 3 hours of work (at $90/h) and to fill that allotted time with additional projects if needed. The workers finished the job in 2 hours (average performance at best) and refused to complete any more work to fill the time. We were charged for 3 hours of work and were given two hours of unprofessional grade labor. Eric was extremely responsive to book the job but has ignored any effort to reach out with this concern. Absolute nightmare to work with. Would not recommend. read more

I needed a Fall clean-up/final raking to be done asap. I contacted several lawn/landscape companies and heard back from 2 that were available. The estimate from His Workmanship was less than the other company, and because they use college students, I went with them. The scheduling was quick and easy through their website and email. They were able to schedule for the following day, the students showed up at the exact expected time, and they did a great job. I would definitely use this company again for yard work or help with moving, etc.! read more

The workers showed up and immediately got to work and worked hard the entire time - we were very happy with that. I do wish the crew had better training with regarding to packing items that can be damaged in transit - like furniture, ping pong table, etc... We didn't really know what we were doing not having moved across the country before. A more experienced crew probably would have been a much wiser choice for us, so consider that when you move - do your homework on how to protect your stuff, including wrapping and loading, or hire a local business dedicated to helping you move (though that's no guarantee either, I admit). All in all we would definitely hire them again. read more

Highly recommend! Used these guys for residential leaf clean up. Even though it was near the Thanksgiving holiday they were quickly able to schedule two workers for the job. They arrived on time and did a very thorough job. I had contracted for three hours, and they finished about 20 minutes early. Without any prompting they did some additional cleanup and gave me the full three hours of labor that I was paying for. Great integrity and pride in their work. read more

The 2 young men Eric sent over were exactly what we needed. Tenants had let the property become overgrown so it needed weeding lawn mowing and edging. The pros wanted quite a bit of money to weed and cut the grass so I looked as this alternative. The 2 young men Eric sent over asked good questions, listened to what I wanted done and then worked extremely hard to make sure I was happy. They cleaned up the yard, all the walks, a few beds, and the patios front and back within the allotted time we agreed on. They were not pros is reason for 4 vs 5 stars, but when I see High school or College age kids who are happy to put in the work - I'm a big fan. Will definitely use His Workmanship again. read more

I needed help moving and Seth and Ryan were great! They were friendly, courteous, and very hard workers. They worked fast, very fit, and made moving all my heavy and bulky furniture look easy. They were very helpful and having them move our things into our new house was stress free. You are in good hands with His Workmanship and I highly recommend them if you need great guys to help you with your moving. read more

Hired two guys to help us move. They were very professional and friendly. I would recommend this service they as it was very reasonable and the forman was quick to respond . I have no experience with any of the other services that his workmanship offers but i would expect it to be excellent. Will be looking to hire them in the future. read more

Not very professional. They asked if I had a truck. I said no. They said they would get a truck for $300 and I would have to pay upfront. They also wanted $10 for gas and wanted to be paid in cash. They wanted $45 per hour per person and a minimum of 3 hours and $270. I forgot them and went with Del's Movers. Great move and saved $200 with much better service. read more

I made an appointment for later in the week and told them that I changed my mind. I changed my mind due to the feelings and high price they were giving me. Now, they want me to pay a $50 cancelation fee. I sent them an inquiry through their website and they are acting like I signed a mortgage. They're trying to take advantage of people. Use someone else. read more

The biggest waste of $400 spent on yard work. Attempted to remedy the situation with Eric but to no avail. Does not deserve the 1 star rating. read more

I think that you can indeed find different professional options regarding moving services but the guys at "His workmanship" really excel in the outstanding service they provide. They are totally recommended! read more

I was looking for someone to help me with yard work as I'm 8 months pregnant and my husband works a lot. We had weeds everywhere, the bushes were overgrown and had helicopters covering the entire patio. Matt and his friend came over and took care of everything. They were great at communicating and asking questions to ensure they did everything I needed. They even did some extra bits at the end and we did a walk through to make sure everything was perfect. If you need some help with yard work I would recommend these guys! read more

Polite hardworking guys! Got the moving job done efficiently.. Would definitely use their services again!

I wanted "His Workmanship" to be what it said it is. Eric promptly replied to my request for help to repair a small retaining wall. I sent photos he requested - answered all of his questions. He quoted a minimum charge of $740 ($120 x 6 hours for 2 workers (with an extra $20 for gas/travel fee)). The accepted payment methods: Cash, Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal (10% transaction fee extra if you select "goods and services" on Venmo or PayPal). Prices compared to local contractors so I expected HW to provide comparable service. However, HW wouldn't provide consultation, materials, or tools. Eric asked for more photos: tools and materials on site. He clarified that they would not be able to cut pavers - no levels - no rubber mallets and asked for a $120 deposit upfront in cash PRIOR to scheduling. I looked further into business reviews. This was the reply from Eric: "Reading and replying to your emails is absolutely exasperating. That's why I required a deposit in the first place because answering all your questions was SOO much work that I wanted payment upfront in case you canceled. Please don't email me back again. I'm so done with you." Grateful we did not move forward. Grateful other reviews warned. Not approved by Better Business Bureau (BBB). Disappointed. We loved the concept. We are not difficult customers. We simply needed service and needed to understand how this company would provide it. We needed to know that the laborers are NOT landscapers. They are high school and college students. They are not trained. We could hire kids who could do the same level of work from our neighborhood for much less. Had we known that was what we were getting into for the price, we would not have wasted our time and effort. It seems HW knows that. We would not have paid a deposit before terms of service. Eric was angry because he believed this process wasted HIS time. He didn't seem to notice that his reluctance to be more forthcoming wasted our time - as well as the expense of securing necessary tools and materials. There was a greater loss on our end. Suggestions: put your terms of service right on your website. Don't tell people that you have landscapers when they are inexperienced and unsupervised high school and college students. The idea is based on good principles. We all start somewhere. May His Workmanship bring life where there is none. May you discover the joy that comes from that. read more

They helped me move earlier this week and they made it so easy to move. They were very nice and professional and I plan on using them again!

Moving in January is never anyone's first choice. Seth and Andrew from His Workmanship battled the freezing rain and icy sidewalks to get my job done. They were on time, polite, cheerful and worked VERY hard! I'm so happy I chose His Workmanship to help me with my move!! read more

I used His Workmanship to help move into our new house because the closing was in the afternoon and we have young kids that had to be put to bed on time. I would definitely use again. read more

After much unresponsiveness from local landscaping companies, I found His Workmanship on Thumbtack and contacted them to request an estimate. There was a massive overgrown bush, about 10 feet long and 6 feet tall, that we needed removed from our front yard along with shrub trimming. Eric Pfeffer responded immediately and provided us with an extremely reasonable estimate. Lincoln and David arrived to our house and removed the bush (and roots) with shovels and loppers within 3 hours. They were punctual, pleasant, and hardworking. I will not hesitate to use their services again and am beyond pleased with their work! The entire process was seamless! read more

I called them to get some bushes and weeds removed. They responded right away and answered all of my questions in a timely manner. Their rates were reasonable and I was able to schedule quickly and they were able to accommodate my availability. I had to cancel unexpectedly but would definitely call them again in the future. read more

When we first contacted His Workmanship, Eric responded quickly to give info and answer questions. We hired 3 workers to come this morning for 4 hours. Nice guys and good, strong workers. Imani seemed more experienced than the other two and he took the lead on the job. They all worked well together on a very tough job... removing 9 large stumps of boxwoods that we had already cut back. Would have given 5 stars if the other 2 workman had been as experienced as Imani. read more

Great customer service. Responds back quickly. I will do work with this company again
