We loved everything we tried! We had the spicy tuna crispy rice (perfect level of spicy) Lots of salmon nigiri, some albacore nigiri A shrimp tempura roll and a natsu roll The portions and quality are amazing for the price points! Our server may have been the manager, and when he heard it was a birthday he gifted us a dessert The matcha cheesecake was balanced so perfectly! The space is small, but beautifully done and it doesn't feel cramped - I can imagine a wait when the road conditions are clear!

I myself don't really like sushi, so I got the chicken yakisoba. I'd place it at average to above average yakisoba, with strong flavor and thin noodles. I think beef or pork would have better suited the dish had they had them--the chicken was good but a little dry. My partner seemed to very much enjoy his omakase. He got the 10 piece course, and there wasn't anything he thought was bad or mediocre. I asked for his favorite and he mentioned both tuna options that he received, including one with truffle. It was also his first time trying caviar. When asked what could be improved, he cited that when he had his omakase in Japan, it was more than just nigiri options. He liked the little appetizers, hand rolls, and more that he had gotten there. He said that while this 10 piece course was great, he wished for a bit more variety. Overall, we both enjoyed our meal here and would return again. Shoutout to the waitstaff for not forcing the whole table to get the omakase (that's happened to me before)!

Refreshing Surprise - Passion & Care…read more I was down the street getting a haircut and had a craving for sushi, so I opened Yelp, spotted Kanzi, and decided to swing by. I'm so glad I did. Kanzi is one of those refreshing surprises: an approachable neighborhood sushi spot that clearly cares about the details. They may not be trying to be an ultra high-end omakase destination with otoro and uni, but what they do offer, they execute with care, precision, and pride. The fish was clearly well stored and well cared for, and the cuts were clean and thoughtful. I tried the red snapper, eel, mackerel, yellowtail, masago, super white tuna with fresh wasabi, and one roll: the no-rice Cool Hawaiian. I'll post a few pictures as well because the presentation really deserves it. I sat at the bar and had the chance to talk with Hong, the chef preparing my food. I learned that he took over the restaurant from his brother and still visits sushi restaurants around DFW at least twice a week to keep learning, tasting, and improving his own craft. That told me everything I needed to know. There is real passion here. Hong believes the details matter, from a clean bathroom to the right Japanese knife, specially purchased for left-handed use. That kind of care shows up in the food and in the overall experience. Go visit Kanzi, sit at the bar if you can, and tell Hong that Tait says hello -- and thank you. Pro Tip: Kanzi is currently BYOB. There is a liquor store right across the parking lot, literally within about 50 feet. Walk in, head to the cooler on the far right, grab a cold bottle of sake, and bring it back with you. Kanzi has sake cups ready to go, which makes the whole experience even better.

After this we were already full, but also ordered the black cod and uni pasta from hot menu. Everything tasted really good and not too fishy. However some items were really salty - the skin of the black cod, some of the vegetables, the Wagyu. Prices were as expected for the type of cuisine. $85 for the tasting, $25 for the cod and pasta each. They have lots of signature cocktails which were refreshing as well - I ordered the sake martini and my husband ordered the ginger old fashioned. Service was attentive and did explain the dishes well. They do take reservations via open table but we walked in on a Friday night at 7pm without one and had no issues getting seated immediately. Tucked away behind a dental office I believe. Can be easy to miss.

The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting, with a more intimate feel that makes it easy to relax and enjoy your dinner. The sushi was definitely the star of the visit. The fish tasted fresh, the rolls were well put together, and the quality really stood out. From traditional favorites to specialty creations, there are plenty of choices for sushi fans. Their menu features a variety of nigiri, sashimi, specialty rolls, Japanese appetizers, and lunch specials that make it easy to mix and match. Some favorites include their chef-inspired rolls, fresh sashimi options, sushi combinations, and flavorful appetizers that are great for sharing. It's a nice spot whether you're a sushi regular or someone who likes trying new dishes. Our only small note was that we waited a little longer than expected to be greeted and for water after being seated. Once we were helped, the experience was much smoother and the staff was friendly. Overall, Hanakin Sushi is a solid Plano find with quality ingredients, a cozy setting, and a menu full of options. We enjoyed our visit and are looking forward to coming back to explore more of their dishes. Everything did need a little more seasoning and flavor.

I went the day before Thanksgiving and the japanese chef was a one man show. He was the only one running the establishment because everyone else had left to go to Japan for the holiday. He is so so so so nice. I don't go back to restaurants very often but this place has my heart. This time I got the spicy pork ramen (17), spicy garlic chicken ramen (18), and then got the spicy garlic pork ramen (19) togo. I will say it is a little bit salty, with the garlic ones being more salty than the non garlic ones. However the garlic ones do have more flavor. There's not that much meat/protein either just one piece of meat and an egg. The could be slightly better but it's still good. It also just has bamboo shoots but nothing else. A very simple bowl. Ambiance is nice, it feels upscale but also homey at the same time. They have an open kitchen concept which I like.
