I enjoyed the free De La Soul show here, which had good sound quality and a pleasant setup where you could opt for a close-up viewing of Eye Know and Me Myself and I or just roam around and still hear it. I wish I remembered who had the Yelp reviews that mostly focused on bathrooms, but park regulars know about the bathroom sort of near the LIRR train. It's not as glamorous or as clean as Bryant Park but it's mostly ok and open later than one might expect. The park isn't offering a wilderness facsimile like parts of Prospect Park but you can see birds and there are nice plants. The Unisphere is legendary.

There is always something to do year round. In the winter months, most people decide to venture to the aquatic center/skate rink or the Al Oeter Rec center. There is also a museum inside this park that showcases Queens art. Whether it's for a morning stroll or a picnic, this park has the space for anyone and everyone.

There wasn't a clearly marked spot to drop us off and so we walked a bit, and we ended up walking right past the station. It was directly across the bridge. So, definitely, take the subway next time. We made a reservation at Champions restaurant, but (Scam - they take your credit card for a reservation even though only courtside tickets are allowed to dine here) we were not able to eat there. I didn't like how we had to wait to get past the gates, they hold you there until after 6pm for the evening matches. Then, of course, the crowd rushes for the food, the bathrooms, and the shops and as a result, you can't do much of anything. Still, I had a delicious lobster roll from the food kiosks (Red Hook Lobster Pound). Inside Arthur Ashe, the seating was great, there were plenty of bathrooms and food options, and with the screens, you could see everything. What I didn't like, was the constant seat switching by people trying to get better seats. I suppose this happens at stadiums everywhere, but since you are supposed to be in your seat for play to start, this was so annoying to see people going up and down the stairs. Still, we got to see some great tennis, and the vibes here are great. It took forever to get to the ride share pickup (this needs better signage) and we walked quite a ways in the dark.

Security was quick and easy to get through especially considering the large crowds. The US Open village really is as cool as they say. Lots of Us open swag for sale and corporate sponsor pop ups (saw a lot from Chase in particular). If you leave the game you can always watch the match from one or the several television screens outside too. I thought the food options weee excellent. I saw lots of high end restaurants lile Coqadoq and FUKU and Eataly. Not your run of the mill fast food. It's very pricey though($8 for a soda). Don't believe they permit outside food. Inside the stadium itself, ithe seats were clean. Not super comfortable but pretty standard stadium seats . I liked how before the start of the game they televised the player rules. As someone who doesn't follow tennis closely this was a nice refresh. I'm not sure that I've seen this at other sports games I've been to. All in all I enjoyed my experience at Asher Ashe. I can't believe it's taken me this long to visit.

There used to be a separate station with hamburgers and hot dogs and a salad bar to add extra onions and lettuce. Now both are gone, although the burgers and dogs were added to the food line. If you like your burgers beyond well done, this is for you. On the rest of the line, there was much to cheer about. The creamed summer corn was excellent, as was the beef brisket. On to the stands, our tickets were in row 6, and Paul the guard noticed that my son was mobility impaired, and found us seats that weren't currently occupied much lower. He had directed us to the other gate, where they supposedly had handicapped seating, but Tom at that gate, basically told us to get lost. All's well that ends well, and later in the game, Paul even came by and gave us waters and chips. Above and beyond. Around the 6th inning, they brought out desserts. My young uns loved it but I could not eat another bite. Hyundai Club will spoil you for all time. This is how to see a baseball game. The Mets won, by the way.

Getting there does require a bit of walking as we ended up parking at the Skyview Mall and it was about a 20 minute walk from there. There is an LRR station right next to it, so if you come via train it would be much shorter. Security was a breeze and once you enter, it is more like a Universal Studios experience with several corporate enclosures that give you an immersive experience. We tried the Amex enclosure and there were plenty of activities inside including personalized tennis balls, Virtual table Tennis and even a tennis game video recording. We enjoyed the experience so much that forgot we were here to see a tennis match. After getting to the stadium itself, it was as if a festival was going on as more people were lined up at the food enclosures rather than the match itself. We saw a ladies singles where Jasmine Paolini was playing against Aiava, Destanee, none of whom I had heard of. It was a straight forward match with Paolini winning in straight sets. The main event was Medvedev vs a very unknown Benjamin Bonzi and what a match it turned out to be. Firrst of all most of the support was for Medvedev, but Bonzi ended up winning the first two sets. As he was serving for the match on a second serve, out of nowhere a cameraman walked onto the court. This hot the referee to award Bonzi a first serve, but Medvedev just lost it and created a whole commotion, first with the referee and then with the crowd who was very much behind him at that point. There was so much noise that play stopped for seven minutes as the crowd just roared non stop. This shook Bonzi so much that he ended up losing that set and even the next set 0-6 only to recover and beat Medvedev 6-4 in the final set. He did ended up getting a lot of support after that incident as they all felt sorry for him. It was a historic match, where Medvedev ended up getting fined 42K for his antics. We definitely got our money worth after all that excitement and watching a historic moment. The whole atmosphere, facilities, staff, stadium, cleanliness food was excellent.

Stadium wise it's nice, good set up they have activities u can participate in, shops & food, although u may want to avoid getting anything here prices are so ridiculous, I was dying of thirst so I grabbed a coke , it was $7.50 , jesus crist talk about a rip off ! water was $7 & don't even get me started on the cocktail & beer prices wow such grossly overpriced food is unnecessary! Free events are great since u can at least get to participate in the activities but additional spending at the stadium can be extremely overboard so I would keep that in mind when attending anything at these stadiums.

Travers Park has been a fixture in the Jackson Heights community for the better part of the last 70…read moreyears. It has been a haven for outdoor everything (#1), an ideal spot for the youngins to unleash some energy, and is the site of the weekly Jackson Heights Greenmarket (#2). Named after the local community icon Thomas Travers, it was unveiled to the public in 1949. After a few facelifts in the past few decades, it's become one of the more utilized parks in the borough. Most recently there has been some serious renovation to improve the playground and the half acre of land known as Rory Staunton Field. Fast forward to 2022, it all looks lovely. At just over 2 acres, it's sizable for NYC standards. There are a lot of areas to lounge and lay out, a handful of chess tables, a sprawling kid's area, and plenty of benches to sit on. It's a great people watching area and is in the quieter part of the neighborhood; a stone's throw away from the congestion of Roosevelt Ave. In addition the farmer's market on the weekends, there has been Summer Sundays in the Park, which are seasonal performances put on by local Queens non-profits. This is one of the few places I'd recommend for folks to come check out on a casual weekend. Travers Park had a $7.1 million renovation during the Pandemic - and it completely shows! (Do NOT…read moreread any reviews of it before 2022 as they are describing and rating what it was like BEFORE renovation work was done!) The transformation was truly amazing where there is a beautiful grassy lawn along 34th Ave., PLENTY of nice clean, new benches to lounge on by yourself or with family and friends, new playground equipment and sprinklers, tennis courts (whereas before was just ugly plain asphalt), and long picnic tables, chess tables, and even an amphitheater space. AND ... *drumroll*.... YES, TWO dog runs (1 for smaller dogs and the other for larger)!!! Other Jackson Heights residents and I really pressed our local government to please provide and they delivered!!! These 2 dog runs are side by side and occupy what used to be 1 of 2 handball courts (1 still remains). These dog runs have a long hose that runs water to clean off these grounds and provide drinking water for dogs who visit. (And of course, it has a large poop bag dispenser right in front in case any owner forgot to bring theirs from home!) And YES, there are events that occur during the warm weather months in this park. NOW WHERE IS AN UPDATED MAP OF THIS GORGEOUS PLACE - ???
