I came here today for a simple job and was given an estimate in writing by one of the employees. We…read moreagreed on the price, I left to grab the cash, and came back 30 minutes later fully ready to get it done. As soon as I returned, a different guy came out and told me, "We're not doing it." No explanation. No apology. Just a complete reversal of what was already agreed on -- even though I had the paper quote in my hand. What makes it worse is that it was close to their closing time. Instead of being honest and telling me to come back tomorrow, they acted like the whole thing never happened. It honestly felt like they just didn't want to do the job anymore because it was the end of the day. Unprofessional, confusing, and a complete waste of my time. If this is how they treat customers -- giving quotes and refusing the job 30 minutes later -- I can't recommend this shop to anyone.

I have never had anything but bad experiences using body shops, but my wife found these guys and they were fantastic. Mario was polite, professional, and far more helpful than anyone I've ever dealt with at any sort of auto shop. The folks at State took care of everything flawlessly, dealt directly with the insurance company on everything, handled my wife's car being totaled out, and kept me informed on the progress of my car's repairs every step of the way. I got my 10 year old car back looking almost as good as the day I drove it off the lot. I hope it's quite a while before I need a body shop again but I can't imagine bringing my cars anywhere but State Auto Body.

Guess it was too much work for him and was hoping for a quickie. This person could've asked me questions over the phone instead of making an appointment only to send me away without taking the time to explain options and reschedule another appointment. There was no professionalism or nicety. Annoyed and feeling rotten (hey, I'm only human--a sensitive one), I decided to search for another Smog Check location on Yelp (while still on the lot of the previous auto shop). Interestingly, Carr's was close by (less than a mile away) and had more highly rated reviews, so I decided to take a chance and ask if they had any openings that day. I was relieved to hear the voice of a nice sounding man who said I could come in (it was already around 12:30 pm). When I arrived, there were many employees busy at work. AND they had kind (not angry) looking faces! When Jason, the owner, came out to greet me he looked like an ANGEL compared to the last guy! Jason was very polite and easy to talk to. He took his time to explain what needed to be done, giving me options and time to make phone calls and make a final decision. Although Carr's was already working on several cars, they managed to fit me into their busy schedule and get my car approved for the Safety & Emissions Certificate. We got the sticker the following day. No damage to the defogging strips on our back window after the tints were removed, and they even cleaned our car. Pricing is fair and reasonable. His crew provided me a rough estimate right away and then an official written estimate by the next day.
