Wow is not the right adjective, but pretty damn close…read more I am in town for a couple days. Found a nice air bnb up the road which gives me one hour drive access to Bolton, Jay, and Cannon. Anyways, came back from Jay tonight and needed dinner and even though I stopped at the gas station/mart down the road and grabbed a sandwich I still felt I needed dinner (saving the sandwich for tomorrow.) Popped in and knew this was the right decision. Missed the special menu but the pesto flatbread sounded good. I went with the pot roast dinner which was phenomenal. Fell apart with a fork, vegetables were cooked spot on, and think they were deep fried mashed potatoes? That or panko covered. Ether way they were like cheese balls that were yummy. Service was excellent. The cashier had the best cheerful smile and attitude. She also served and bused the tables so she was always asking everyone one everything was. Place is inviting, I can only imagine what the vibe is in the morning when they serve breakfast. Probably will pop in when I head out of town to fuel up for the ride home. This place is definitely worth the stop not only because of what I wrote but because it's a local business and you should avoid the quick fast meal spots.

Totally packed with flavor, delicious warm bread, excellent amount of sauce and micro greens. This thing delivered! Price was very fair. Lady at the counter was very sweet. Location has a good amount of seating and is just a big open space, no booths just tables. Worth a stop if in the area, if not, well then make a route through there!

A destination dining experience that quietly rivals Michelin-level restaurants…read more Some places are good. Some places are memorable. And then there are places that make you stop mid-bite and think, "How is this here?" The Dinner House is absolutely one of those places. Tucked into the most charming corner of Vermont, this restaurant feels like a discovery -- elegant without being pretentious, warm without being casual. During my stay, the dining room was packed every single night, with real waitlists and a steady buzz that confirmed what was already obvious: people know this place is special. The food is on another level. Thoughtful, refined, and deeply satisfying -- every dish is executed with precision and heart. It's the kind of cooking that feels effortlessly confident. Honestly? This is Michelin-consideration legit. The kind of restaurant you'd expect to read about in a city dining guide, not stumble upon in rural Vermont. Behind it all is a true culinary powerhouse: Steve, the chef, and Maria, the baker. Together, they are magic. The savory dishes are layered, balanced, and beautifully composed, while the baking is exceptional -- the kind that lingers in your memory long after the plate is cleared. Their collaboration elevates the entire experience. Sunday brunch deserves special mention -- indulgent, comforting, and flawless. Come hungry, expect to wait, and trust that it will be worth it. This isn't just a great local restaurant. It's a destination. If you care about food, hospitality, and experiences that feel rare and intentional, make the trip.

The staff was extremely friendly, the food was great and prices were completely reasonable. You start off with complimentary corn bread (best I've ever had) and tortilla chips with homemade salsa and whipped cheese. Then we had the pork belly, poutine, and croquettes. All amazing. And had the split pea soup and dinner salad for the main. The cocktails were great too! This has to be the best restaurant I've been to in this area.

We stayed at the Jackson bed and breakfast and this restaurant is attached, which worked out well. There was one night where it was too cold and we didn't want to go back out, so we stayed warm inside and walked over to O&E. Very easy and comfortable. They have a bar area and also a sitting area with a fireplace. Very cozy for a winter getaway. We had both dinner/drinks and breakfast here. Everything is curated well without losing flavor. Sometimes meals can be too fancy and you leave confused and hungry - "what the heck did I just eat and why was it only 2 tablespoons?". This place made pretty dishes with recognizable ingredients. Everyone was very kind and accommodating. The perfect, memorable spot for a vacation.

The Hamachi Crudo was a great palate cleanser as we moved onto our main course of the halibut in the house made gnocchi . Every dish was perfectly balanced in flavor and artistic in presentation. A small bar as you enter that was full when we came in. We sat at a small table in the bar area. Everyone was very nice and our waitress was attentive enough - but she seemed a bit busy. But all was fine service wise. So....the food. It's weird. Like trying too hard to be different but just didn't hit the mark for me. I see bread on a menu and I get excited! So immediately I ordered the Parmesan bread with dill pickle butter. The bread was warm and I enjoyed it but the butter with dill pickle just didn't work for me. Lots of other things to me could have complemented the bread better. Then we order the lettuce wraps, they were ok. My friend ordered the duck and I tried it and we both really liked it! The vegetables were good! My sirloin....the steak itself was good despite being a tad overcooked for medium rare. Something on the plate had a curry flavor - it just didn't all go together well. Then the lemon ricotta cheesecake....we didn't taste any lemon, it was thick and weirdly dry for a cheesecake. It also had freeze dried something on top....we actually weren't sure what. Some bright spots - the food quality! You can tell that these are top notch high quality ingredients, and the cocktails! They were yummy! I just don't like the weird combos and what (to me) feels like being weird for the sake of being different versus just being good. Since I only come up here a few times a season I likely will go to our other favorites or try new spots.
