If you don't like crowds though, be prepared - this is always a tight one. I love big crowds and busy spaces, personally, so I was in my element! * If you want a sitting spot (for example at one of the tasting room outdoor tables) the reality is that you'll have to show up at 10am or even before, for the 11am opening, and wait in line. Live music was on all day and it was fun to watch people in traditional costumes dance! I loved the merch this year! The Oktoberfest mug is beautiful. Also got a tile, tee shirt, socks, some cans... As for the beer offerings - I admit I am not a beer drinker. I pretty much only drink beer from Schilling - but I've learned a few things from them and going to their fests... I don't like pilsners and light beers at all, or any "fruity" flavors. I love IPAs, and I can do marzens and darker beers. There was 50+ breweries represented at this Oktoberfest, some from as far as Germany, and a couple of Quebec and Ontario breweries too! All volunteers were friendly and knew their stuff. Overall this was another great day, with once again the weather on our side. I attended with my boyfriend (on a designated driver ticket) and a friend from town, and we all had a great time! Entering the warehouse type setting, the brew mechanisms are on the left and the building's nave hosts several picnic benches , some really comfy sofas with side tables at one end, and on the other end, the service bar and kitchen. Bathrooms were at the entrance to the building and they are immaculate. The three servers on duty were charming and friendly, knowing everything about their trade and offerings. The cheerful welcome we got wars a part of the festivities. We ordered a Double Raspberry Sour - so good we had another one.... Then a Dooryard New England IPA, hoppy and aromatic. And then our last one was the Woodland Wit, a citrusy wheat beer with spices. Foodwise, we ordered the Veggie Lovers Personal Flatbread-Style Pizza, a delicious veggie pizza with a crusty base, and the Pepperoni & Burnt Haoney flatbread, delicious. I would have just sent it back but nobody checked on us at all. We flagged down a different bartender to get something else and my bf ate the burger. The beer was OK. This place relies on the great views but that's not enough. Fix the customer service.

I also love the little Pittsburgh connection and seeing the Terrible Towel welcome mat. It always makes me smile. You can order beers on tap and pick up cases to take home, which makes it easy to stock up on some favorites. The outdoor space has really been enhanced over the last few years and is a delightful place to bring friends and family. Someday I'll plan well enough ahead to finally take the brewery tour, but until then, I'm happy enjoying the beer and the atmosphere.

All come in cans except Heady Topper, which you can grab on draft from a refrigerated beer engine. I have to say, having it on draft is a magical experience. Their aluminum cups are quite cute and you can take them home. Food is from a truck. Jamaican food that can be quite overwhelming with salt and spice if you're not careful. The potatoes were especially good. They hold events on their website including Boogie Bingo which we attended on Thursday night. Great host with a very dry sense of humor. We come up to Vermont every year, and this will definitely become a regular spot for us. Cheers!

So while on a trip and looking for a spot to grab some lunch naturally we ended up picking this spot. I've been aware of Lost Nation Brewing but it's been since 2016/2017 when I had a beer from them last. To start they have ample parking and have a nicely painted mural on the side of their building. They have an indoor section we did not check that out and instead sat at the bar in the outdoor section. How can you pass up looking into the kitchen and also the wafting scents of burgers, fries and everything else being cooked. Despite a chillier day than most we have had lately it was worth it! Besides their own brews they had guest taps, guest botttles/cans, and even some cocktails including some spiked apple cider for that fall feeling drink. For beer fans they even had a rotating Hillfarmstead DIPA for a guest tap. I ended up getting their Kolsch and my wife got their gose. Both very solid beers and worth grabbing. Food wise they had a couple burgers, fried chicken sandwich, pulled pork, turkey sandwich, hot dogs, and some small plates. My wife ended up choosing the burger and I got their fried chicken sandwich. She enjoyed the burger and thought it was cooked very well. The chicken sandwich was delicious, the fact it was smothered in honey did make it a bit messy to eat but tasted so good! The fries we got were massive and well seasoned and the side of pickles were great too. Would be a no brainer to get either one again if we visit again! Bartender was friendly and we didn't wait long at all for the drinks or food! Well made brews paired along side delicious food, really what more could you ask for? We wanted to hit some of their top breweries. A friend who had been last year said his favorite was Idletyme so we hit their first. We wandered through the inside areas in to the back area. That's the spot. Underneath the canopy of trees there sits a long wooden bar. The vibe that day was ideal with the sunlight cutting through the leaves. I got their pilsner and it was the best beer of the trip. An excellent subtle tasty golden beverage. We moved on shortly after to the next spot but I had to agree that Idletyme was the spot. I plan to make it back to Stowe again soon, and Idletyme will be one of my first stops.
