I was charged a 20% restocking fee on a defective Demel tool that I had purchased, it is not legal to charge restocking fees on defective items. The thing had literal sparks flying out of the back vent, but since it still turned on they decided it "works fine". It's been relisted as a used item now, I really hope whoever ends up with it doesn't get hurt. I don't doubt that it turns on fine but that doesn't make it a working tool. After a couple hours of use I'm sure it'll happen again. Incredibly unsafe. I now have to deal with filing a chargeback through my bank to get the remainder of the money owed to me, and filing a complaint with BBB as well. Deceptive, illegal, and downright negligent business practices. Avoid these people at all costs, they're absolutely awful. read more

I always prefer to spend my money at small business' so when I found this place I decided I would start buying tools over here. I work for a therapy facility and we spend a good bit of money on tools and such maintaining our place. Being a non profit, we have to purchase things tax exempt. When I went to check out, they got someone from the back who came out and told me exactly word for word "it just ain't worth it for me to do the paperwork and save you $13" and refused to give us our tax exemption...so now I'm off to Lowe's! read more

The aerator didn't not function properly. The left clutch was marginal still they charged an extra $10 for cleaning as it was not "reasonably " clean having been used for its intended purpose. They did not advise that there was a cleaning fee No veterans discount. read more

Don't go here unless you can't find equipment somewhere else(united rentals or Tomball rental center). Rude and unhelpful people behind the desk. They have given me false information on the phone several times. I planned a trip to pick up a horse out of town, they reserved the wrong trailer and almost ruined a trip I had taken time off of work for. On top of the fact that many of the same items are much cheaper not far down the road. Last point is the price. Several items I have called multiple rental locations, they are usually the highest priced location in town, almost across the board on their inventory. Ok I own a small business in the area and I like to buy local from small business. This is the third time I buy from this guys and let me tell you I will never come back. The last time I was there I bought a heater. Went back to the warehouse ( my business) and found out they sold me the wrong heater I come back to exchange it for the right one and I had to wait for 40 minutes so the owner could get of the phone and said ok get the right one. So I did just to found out it was a defective unit so I came back for a third time and explain them the problem he told me that it was very suspicious so he send one of his employees to get a propane tank to test the unit I was for more than an hour then finally he decided to get me another one. My other two experience there where just as bad. So in resume if you like to be disrespected, unprofessional attitude towards costumers, very dirty and unorganized place, with out a formal return policy. You found your place good luck. read more

I've used these guys many times, and will continue to use them. If you rent medium-size equipment that needs a small trailer, they will often send it with you at no extra charge. I'm the weekend DIY kinda guy, so I often rent from them on Friday night and return by 9AM Mon at only a 1-day rental fee. This isn't for the uninitiated. They rent serious construction tools, all the way up to full sized bulldozers and cranes. If you don't know how to use it, or are afraid you'll harm yourself, keep this in mind: they rent the equipment out, they don't teach you to use it or insure your safety. The equipment will work as designed, and I've found Hilltop will stand behind the stuff they rent out. If you're squeamish at reading this, hire a contractor to do it for you. Heavy equipment can kill you if you don't know what you're doing. read more

I recently rented a man lift. Got home and the darn alarm kept going off no matter how level it was. I was very frustrated. Called the office and they said that I could bring it back in and they'd look at it. After some searching I found some wires were getting wet and causing my issue. I was able to keep the wires dry and continue working. When I arrived the next day to return the rental, I explain the problem and they asked if I were able to finish what I was needing it for. I told them that I lost about six hours of use and hadn't finished what I was trying to do. They said they would make it right and let me rent it for half a day with no charge on a busy Friday.
