Back then, the fatality rate for big dogs with full stomach twists was 98%. He survived the surgery, but the next part is making sure that infection doesn't set in or they go into shock. Mine went into shock 4 days later, but Dr. Kubiak saved him. I can never thank that man enough. He was the best vet because he went to the best veterinarian school in the country, Texas A&M. He is at or near retirement age. The only reason I saw him is that he was filling in for my regular vet. And, sadly, he has gone to work for my regular vet two days a week now. My regular semi-retired vet has reduced his work hours to about 16 weekly. Two new vets fill out the clinic's hours. All he had to do was check over a new rescue dog and give her the rabies and other shots. Instead, he decided to clip a nail without asking if I wanted the nails clipped (which I always do myself at home) or warning me what he was doing. All of a sudden, the dog in my arms was bleeding and in real pain. The flash of satisfaction on his face made me realize that this guy was not acceptable to me as a vet. His follow up conversation with me (1) did not include an apology of any kind, (2) included a warped view of dogs and pain, (3) and, blamed the dog for being in pain. Surreal .... very surreal. I have owned dogs and taken them all to vets for over 30 years. This is the first veterinarian that I have ever been afraid of having near my pets. Although I have used and loved my current practical country vet for ten years, I have decided to move to a less convenient vet practice to ensure that Kubiak will not have access to my animals.

That is all I know about the actual lake. This review is for the trails and bridges that I was there to photo. Comanche Bluff Trail is a hike and bike trail with 2 trailheads. The East trailhead is located in Taylor Park and costs 4.00 to access. Here you will find a well maintained trail and the Hoxie and Friendship Bridges and another wood bridge. The West trailhead is located off Country Rd 496 and has no fee and limited parking. This part of the trail is not well defined and we got lost and never found the primitive camping area. At this point it was starting to get hot and I was running out of water and would have been panicking if I had not had my faithful Canine with me. I gave her the "Lets Go Home" command and she found the trail back to our car Thank God! There is also horseback trail Willis Creek Park Equestrian Trail 4.00 to access and you provide proof of Coggins to gate attendant also 4.00 fee to access. And onto the main reason we were here - Bridges. I have a weird obsession with old bridges and Friendship Bridge did not let me down! FB was originally built at the turn of the century over Willis Creek. It was destroyed in a 1921 flood and reconstructed. In 1982 it was dismantled and moved to its current location in Taylor Park. FB is a Pratt Through-Truss Bridge a type of bridge patented in 1844 by father and son Caleb and Thomas Pratt. FB is one of only a few of these historic registered bridges and worth the trip.
