If it wasn't for the Physicians quality care and thoroughness, this review would be quite different. Vanessa Peralez, APRN, was exceptional in making sure anything I was concerned about was addressed and went above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable. She never made me feel rushed and this was my first visit. The front office never said their office was on the 2nd floor despite being on the phone with them to get their correct address. When I finally arrived, instead of being helpful I was told to move away from the front and complete the pre check in at the seating area. read more

The cost of services deterred me from coming back. I have insurance so I scheduled my annual appt. I was charged $50 for my initial appointment. My doc then sent me for lab work & pap - both $100 each ($200 total). Then the 2 follow ups are $50 each. So with insurance it's $350 so far out of pocket. I have BCBSTX. Folks are nice but the price is too expensive to go back. read more

First wellness consultation in a year as I only recently got insurance again. The new PCP is excellent. The physician assistant did many heart and circulatory tests before the doctor arrived. Up until recently, I hadn't experienced any issues because I was going for the basic things like an annual check ups or a slight pain. But when explaining to my doctor that my allergies have gotten out of hand, she offered to take a path of getting tested for allergies. When taking this route, the office team who communicated appointments and the ingredients of my allergy test being ready, they did not share with me anything about what coverage would look like before scheduling the appointment. They told me that they could do it. They told me that it was covered under my insurance, but they failed to tell me that my insurance was only covering a small portion and that I would be hit with a massive bill. No one ever communicated to me and gave me the choice on whether I wanted to move forward or just deal with it. When trying to communicate this, I was met with people who didn't necessarily care and who continue to push my phone call around to different departments. I was hit with this bill after they had already injected me with the shots! It felt very predatory and very unnecessary. When trying to communicate to them that the shots were starting to make me break out I was told a message would be sent and someone would call me if there was a reply. There was no sense of urgency and no bedside manner. Needless to say the doctor I was seeing which was Dr. Mary Baker was great. But the practice that she is with, I will never ever support those people again. read more

I recently visited this office as a new patient after moving to the area and yikes my experience was incredibly disappointing. Front desk was kind and welcoming. Then the MA called me to complete paperwork I had left a few sections blank since they didn't apply to me, but she insisted even after I explained I had nothing to add but I complied. She then brought me back with a dismissive demeanor. No greeting, no eye contact, just silence while taking my vitals. She left the room and didn't even bring the paperwork I had just completed, which later became relevant. I had been referred to see Dr. Lori, as I was seeking a PCP and wanted to discuss PCOS symptoms. She asks me the exact same questions that were on the form and jokingly says "Oh you're healthy! What's wrong with you?" Haha? Not a joke to me. At no point did she ask meaningful questions why I was there or try to understand concerns. Instead, the conversation stayed very surface-level basic questions without addressing the reason for my visit. What made it worse, she brought up my appearance, specifically my acne scars. This is something I'm already self-conscious about, and having it pointed out in a clinical setting trying to upsell laser treatments felt completely inappropriate and insensitive. Toward the end of the visit, she suggested birth control and an IUD as her solution. I had to stop her mid-sentence to explain that I am not trying to suppress my cycle. For anyone familiar with PCOS, these options mask symptoms rather than address underlying issues when your cycle is already haywire. It was frustrating to feel like I had to educate the doctor instead of receiving guidance. I get it, no physician can know everything, but if a provider is unfamiliar with a condition, I would much rather be referred to someone who is knowledgeable than receive dismissive or uninformed care. I left this appointment in tears. Between the lack of empathy, poor communication, and the overall atmosphere, I would not recommend this office or this provider to anyone! Especially if you're seeking care for something that requires deeper understanding and compassion. read more

Dr. Patel was personable, kind, and efficient; He answered all of my questions and concerns in a timely manner. Nursing staff/CMA's as well as their Lab techs were very kind and helpful. The only complaint I had was that the wait was long and the location has many people coming in. I feel that this has been the new norm everywhere post Covid, not just this location so it may be unfair of me to complain. It would help to have more comfortable seating/side tables/decor and a calmer waiting area in general for long waits. Otherwise, great office, great staff, and I'm quite pleased with Dr. Patel. read more

I appreciate the care I received at Hillside Clinic and found the staff to be kind and professional. However, I did experience significant delays during my visit. My appointment was scheduled for 9:30, but I wasn't called back until 10:25, and then waited another 20 minutes in the exam room before being seen. I understand that delays happen, but clearer communication about wait times--or updates along the way--would make the experience much smoother. The wait time is atrocious, I arrived early for my appointment and waited a whole hour after my appointment to even be seen by the doctor. I didn't even get to see my doctor, I saw a new one for the 3rd time in a row. The nurse did not even communicate my pain/ concern to doctor. While the doctors, nurses, and in-office staff are wonderful, the AI phone system and computerized check-in process are very frustrating. The automated answering service often directs me to call 911 instead of allowing me to speak to someone, which can be extremely inconvenient. The QR code and computer check-in system also make the process feel impersonal and a bit like patients are just numbers moving through the system. I really miss the days when you could call the office and speak with a real person or check in with someone at the front desk. It made the experience feel much more welcoming. That being said, the staff, nurses, and doctors are excellent--kind, caring, and very professional. They are the main reason I continue coming back to this office. If the communication and check-in process were improved to feel more personal, the overall experience would be much better. read more

I actually had high hopes for this place. I just moved from the state of Illinois to Texas. This was a Primary care Doctor on my United healthcare app that said would be a good match so I went for it. Do a little more research before you do that. Unless you want to get met with disrespectful emails and the staff quite literally hanging up on you when you're asking for something simple .. just go elsewhere. Trust me I pay a lot of money for my insurance and paid a lot of money for my first visit and still had a horrible experience. The doctor himself was great. The staff working to help communicate with patients is terrible. read more

I was a new patient, first time with them. Dr Mark Bentley was very impatient and made me feel unconfortable. I came due to having really bad allergies and wasn't aware that I would have to do additional work done, and when I asked him why, he was very short with me and raising his voice. I told him never mind I dont want this because of the way he was treating me and his response is okay there is the door. I spent the next 45 minutes calling them, trying to get in, before they called me back, of course threatening a no-show fee. Appt was less than 5 minutes, they told me to just email them the lab work I needed done. I HAD SENT THE EMAIL THE DAY PRIOR, when I was prompted to make an appointment. This was my first appointment with HPC. The check in process was simple through a link. I waited about 6 minutes before being called to be seen for my 9am appointment. The nurse was polite, respectful, and willing to answer my questions. I went in for a form I needed to be filled by a medical professional. The doctor did a very good job in helping me and was welcoming. Overall, the facility is clean and the environment is good. I will definitely make this my go to hospital away from the VA.
