Hillside Primary Care is not the same practice it was when Dr Patel started it 2 years ago. At that time, he was the only provider so I knew exactly who I was going to see when I went to my appointment. I decided to make him my PCP because I liked how knowledgeable and kind he was. I even got my husband to switch to him and he recognized me when I went to one of my husband's appointments and got on to me about not making an annual appointment yet. I liked he remembered me and knew that I was overdue. Now, he has multiple locations and a few NP/PAs. I honestly don't remember the last time I saw Dr. Patel. The office has stated that if you want one specific provider, you can let them know and they'll put it in your file. However, I find it super perplexing that I went for my annual appointment in January 2021, then was asked to come in for a follow up and had a completely different provider see me who hadn't viewed my file before they walked into the room. Since then, I've had to go back for monthly follow ups and I was seeing Garrett pretty consistently (LOVE Garrett, very personable). My last appointment I saw Mr. Anderson (who started off by not introducing himself and then didn't seem to know anything about me or my medical history) and was told then and there that Garrett had been moved to another location. Oh, and also, the blood work I had come and done last week still wasn't uploaded in my file so we really had nothing to talk about. That was irritating since I'd done that 5 days beforehand. A few hours after my appointment was over, I got a phone call that my bloodwork had to be redone because lab equipment had malfunctioned so I went back again that afternoon for labs. That next week, I got another call asking me to come in for labs. I asked if this was the same labs I had already redone or if there was something wrong? The lady I spoke to on the phone wasn't sure and said she'd call me back. Two hours later, another woman called and said Mr. Anderson wanted to see me to discuss my bloodwork. I said, "Is it bad, or can it wait until my appointment next month?" She said in a month would be fine. I try not to come more often than I have to because my copay is over $80 each time I go and they ALWAYS charge me, even if it's their fault (like bloodwork not being uploaded) that I have to go back. A few days later, a hematological oncologist called me saying I'd been referred to them by Mr. Anderson to make an appointment concerning my new diagnosis. WHAT? The HPC office was on their lunch break when I first called, then the person I spoke to after their lunch wasn't helpful, so my husband and I headed up to the office when they opened asking to see anyone except Mr. Anderson about my results. They were able to squeeze me in and they were very busy so I won't complain about the 2 hour wait because I was just glad to see someone. Mr. Le saw us and was able to explain everything to me and my husband. I could tell he didn't want to throw Mr. Anderson under the bus but even he had to admit that the referral seemed a bit premature and a little bit like overkill. I should have just been given repeat labs like the first phone call had stated, if she had ever called me back to verify. TLDR; Once we are over this (what is hopefully just a small) health scare, my husband and I will probably be looking for a new provider. This practice has gotten too big and we both just feel like numbers now. read more

I was extremely impressed with the care I received today. Every single person I encountered made me feel welcomed, cared for, and genuinely listened to. From the sweet receptionist who greeted me, to Nurse José Cortez, whose efficiency, knowledge, skill, and bedside manner were truly impeccable, everyone was outstanding. José was organized, compassionate, and clearly an expert at what he does. He made the entire intake process feel seamless and put me at ease from the moment we met. Nurse José Cortez sets the standard for what exceptional patient care should look like. Brook, the medical student, was attentive, kind, and took the time to listen carefully to my concerns. She listened intently and communicated everything to Dr. Bentley exactly as I had explained it, which made me feel heard and understood. Dr. Bentley was equally exceptional. He was attentive, compassionate, thorough, and had an outstanding bedside manner. He took the time to answer my questions without making me feel rushed and made me feel confident in the care I was receiving. It's rare to find an entire team that consistently provides this level of professionalism, kindness, and genuine compassion. I was helped promptly, I had some issues with signing in and was helped with signing in and my questions. Also my pcp wasn't set like I thought it was so I was told to contact my insurance and was told what information to get... unfortunately my insurance doesnt have a good line to call them at but my insurers app had a option to update the pcp... at which point I did and was helped further after doing so. Then I continued to sign in and answer questions and noticed my bill for today's visit was 3.5 times what I thought my co pays would have been so I let the staff know and she got an updated insurance and id card in and rechecked the co payment.. it was another short wait and she called me up and let me know the issue was fixed and then took my payment. After all that was corrected and answered I was called to the back office visit went well pressure taken ekg done and answered all the normal questions... I was see by doctor Bentley and his staff first visit went well and my bi yearly follow up was made. Im ecstatic for the new established visit and I have no complaints. read more

While the doctors, nurses, and in-office staff are wonderful, the AI phone system and computerized check-in process are very frustrating. The automated answering service often directs me to call 911 instead of allowing me to speak to someone, which can be extremely inconvenient. The QR code and computer check-in system also make the process feel impersonal and a bit like patients are just numbers moving through the system. I really miss the days when you could call the office and speak with a real person or check in with someone at the front desk. It made the experience feel much more welcoming. That being said, the staff, nurses, and doctors are excellent--kind, caring, and very professional. They are the main reason I continue coming back to this office. If the communication and check-in process were improved to feel more personal, the overall experience would be much better. read more

This is not about my experience with Dr Bentley. Dr Bentley is kind and takes time with you. I felt like Mr Anderson didn't want to spend the time to either explain what he was talking about or answer my questions. I don't understand half of what he was talking about and he did not address the pain in my back, hip and leg on the right side. When I tried to ask him some questions he said he'd already spent 10 minutes over what he was supposed to with me. I felt dismissed and like what I wanted to know wasn't important. He also told me that my kidneys were at 45 and usually they worry about anything under 65. I tried to ask about this but wasn't able to. I felt like I didn't matter and was being rushed because I didn't matter. read more

I was anxious going there, I just don't like visiting doctors, the waiting, paperwork, insurance and people working in that type of environment do not show much sympathy or consideration... But not there! I was happily surprised. I was there for a routing blood pressure check, I had a chance to speak with 3 different people who carefully listened and advised me on what would be best for me considering my situation. Scheduling was easy though I did not want a male doctor and even though they recheduled me i still ended up with the same doctor. I went anyway and it was fast and comfortable. The nurse was awesome. The doc was great as well after all. I have only done my initial visit and it sounded like I would get a new doc once I go back again. I am going for primary care. I had paid for my initial appointment before it was rescheduled. They took my receipt from HSA card, and I didnt have to pay again which I was worried about. The best! I had to change my PCP of 15 years when I moved to San Antonio. I was scared and worried they didn't have my records and my health would decline. It was just the opposite. They started their own, were very thorough and helped me with issues I'd been struggling with for years. I have no regrets. The staff are all great and I am so thankful for everyone especially my doctor. It's a team not just one doctor for all so there's no long wait and you get to build a personal relationship with your NP and the other staff. read more

Best experience I have ever had from start to finish!!!! The PA Cristen Richardson has amazing bedside manner. Also for my African American/Black women who prefer a provider of the same race/sex. PA Cristen would be a perfext fit! She was so nice and I didn't feel rushed! She will be my PCP from now on. The front office was so nice at check in. My son kept telling me to go to his doctor which is a female. But my insurance said they didn't have any female doctors that were taking new patients. Since I was being seen by a male doctor for Hillside Primary Care I was able to switch to my son's doctor since I'm an established patient. My son was right this doctor Or PR S. Hessling she was awesome. She got my prescriptions situated, she listened like my son and girlfriend said she would. I feel good knowing that this doctor knows what she is doing. read more

I utilize Hillside Primary Care for my Medicare Health Plan. I've been with them close to a year. I have nothing but great comments for Hillside Primary Care on IH35 S. Frontage Road. The staff is always polite and professional. I will continue with Hillside for those reasons. The only downside is, it that there is only one way in/out. Hopefully they will figure out another entrance on Topperwein Rd. Although this is a very convenient Primary Care for those close by. read more

Just got diagnosed with diabetes from hospital stay and needed a primary care doctor to help me take care of this. Being a first time diabetes diagnosed person, Dr. Patel made me feel like it would be an easy thing for us to take care of. Right off the bat, he already had the pharmacist getting my insulin ready through my insurance, and was kindly letting me know that a plan will be started to help me. I got a call from the Nurse about my mother health. She asked about how she was doing and medication she was taking. She was really nice and very patient. My mother is a 88yr old dialysis patient. She wanted to let me know she would call and check on her and if I needed anything she text her name and number.
