We recently moved from CA to GA. It is a terrifying process knowing that all of your personal belonging, many irreplaceable, are loaded into a huge semi and then driven across the country by someone you've only just met. Hilldrup helped move my mother's things in March, from Georgia to Pennsylvania. She is in an assisted living facility and of course, there is the pandemic. Hilldrup (both the service team and movers themselves) were incredible. They were flexible as we had to make last minute changes due to the pandemic. The support team was incredibly flexible to accommodate the ever-changing details of the move. Both sets of movers were punctual, kind, and very careful with our things. I was very pleased with Hilldrup. We used them to load, transport cross country, and unload. They did some packing (TVs), we did the rest. We met with multiple movers and felt most comfortable with Hilldrup as their ratings across multiple sites were generally positive. They weren't the cheapest nor the most expensive, but I was glad we went with them. Great communication, tight delivery window (some said 2-3 weeks), and on time delivery. Every time I think of this experience I feel tightness in my chest. LOADING: During the consultation, it was never mentioned that we had to pack the artwork or the jewelry armoire even though we pointed out these were going. We were disappointed to learn the day of the move that they had to be boxed. The movers had 3 boxes we could use for the artwork, but the other 8 pieces of art could not go on the truck because they were not boxed. The jewelry armoire also could not go because it was not in a box...this looks like a piece of furniture mind you and right now we are paying $44/mo to store these items since we could not take them with us. Our estimation was way over so even though we got a fraction back, that was little consolation. During the move, one of the movers, who we identified to our moving contact, stole a $100 from a drawer. He was also the only crew member who was "talking mess" in Spanish. I shared all of this, even the little bit I heard him say in Spanish and the stolen money and could not believe that our moving contact accused us of lying. Needless to say, we never got the money back and they continue to employ this thief. UNLOADING: I forgot the name of the guy who drove the truck but this man USED OUR BATHROOM WITHOUT ASKING! And our master bathroom at that. I couldn't believe it. We had three items that were scratched up, and he did not put together two sets of drawers they had taken apart during loading. It all happened so fast that we didn't realize it until the next day. They are still not put back together as we are missing parts. I used Mayflower, and they contracted out to Alpha Moving and Storage/Hilldrup. I would not recommend this company. The customer service is non-existent. I am still licking my wounds and it took months to write this review just because I cannot believe they managed to make a cross-country move more stressful than it already is. This was a traumatic experience. UPDATE: Hi Miguel, I have this number in my records: M2876-268-3, if it helps you locate my move. I emailed Jami, as I still have her contact information. She was one of the people I spoke to regarding the $100. I will update here if/when she writes back. UPDATE II: Emailed Jami and she said they will send $100. We would definitely use Hilldrup again. I was impressed with them from the beginning. They handled our shipment professionally from order to packing to handling to coordinating the delivery. An update about this company's awful service. After turning our damage report Aug. 13 and waiting over a month for someone to come by and verify the damage. Three weeks after the claims person came out, we are still waiting--with a house full of broken furniture. We have a number of large pieces of furniture that are broken beyond repair and we can't get rid of them until Hilldrup says whether they want to pick them up themselves. We've been told that Hilldrup's report/settlement has been approved and that it will be ready "soon." Feels like they're just waiting for us to give up and throw things out so that they can say they don't have to pay us for the damage they caused. This has been a nightmare. read more

Seemed fine but the movers broke a sprinkler head in my front yard. They actually took the entire head out of the ground so it wouldn't be noticed. Smart move since the company won't consider damages you don't report day of move. Highly recommend checking property inside and out very carefully if you use this company. My hardwood also got scratched which didn't happen with movers who packed me at old location Also the movers didn't reassemble the entertainment center properly. In other words lots of hidden items that you need to be wary about of you use this company read more

As a former military family that has experienced many moves, including one overseas, this was by far the best we have had. When my In-laws sold their house in Fayetteville, Ga; the team was more than helpful with the process. We currently reside in Burlington, NC and were unable to move my husband's furniture and momentos out of their house. Jermaine was kind and prompt for his appointment of the assessment of the load and packing. Kathleen organized the load and move with no hassel. When an accident occured to the stairs while moving my husband's heavy oak furniture, Hilldrup had the stair landing repaired in no time. The driver/ packer, Walter Pereira arrived at our home in Burlington, NC on time. He was kind, and professional. He had the doors and moldings wrapped to prevent any damage. They put all the heavy furniture and treadmill where we requested and never once complained, even with stairs involved. Thank you! read more

BEWARE!! In August of 2014 we began the process of relocating to FLA from GA and selected Hilldrup Moving and Storage from Lawrenceville Georgia. We selected them because of their lack of complaints with the BBB, few negative reviews on social media sites, and the professional demeanor of the individual who came to our home and performed the estimate. The estimator also listened to us when we told him that the weight to bulk/mass ratio of our household items is deceiving. During our previous 3 moves our items always required more trailer capacity (squares) than the weight would normally require. The moving crew who came to our home were fast and courteous during the packing and moving out days. The also brought, on move out day, a 53 foot trailer. Our items easily took up 3/4s of that trailer. Hilldrup then took our household items back to their warehouse. On 10/16/14, we called to schedule delivery of our items in storage on 10/28/14. We were given a 4 day delivery window that extended to 10/31/14. We later received a communication from our move coordinator, at Hilldrup, that our delivery was scheduled for 10/30/14. Very late in the day on 10/27/14 we received an email from the move coordinator that our delivery date had been changed to 10/31/14, with no explanation. I was suspicious and called the move coordinator. She had no explanation or didn't want to offer one In the early afternoon of 10/29/14, and after no status update from Hilldrup, I called to ensure everything was moving ahead as planned for 10/31/14 and ensure everything we owned was on the truck. During that conversation the move coordinator told me the driver from another company was still at their warehouse "attempting to load the truck." She then told me that our load was an "overflow" situation and that our entire household would not fit on the truck. When I asked her when the rest of our household items would be delivered, she said "I don't know." I then asked her how much of our shipment would be on a second truck. She again said she didn't know, but guessed 2 to 3 thousand pounds. (13% to 20% of our original 15040 pounds) I asked to speak to her supervisor. Her supervisor did not call me so I called her. The move coordinator "had just left her office", but the supervisor informed me that I had informed her of things she didn't know about. She stated she would "call me back after she did some investigation", but never did. I then called corporate headquarters in Fenton Missouri and spoke to another customer service rep who repeatedly stated that we were required to pay full amount due and there was no compensation policy for overflow. She informed me that delivery was scheduled for 11/4/14. I then asked to speak to her supervisor. On the 31st, move in day for the 1st shipment, the HQ supervisor called and left a voicemail. Upon finally speaking to her and her reiterating that there is no policy to compensate for overflow, she acknowledged the mess this move had become and offered $250.00 as an apology. Realizing there was little I could do, and they would not deliver our remaining items until we paid full amount, I accepted. At that time, she informed me that our delivery date was now changed AGAIN to the 11/5/14. During the first delivery on the 31st, I spoke to the moving crew and driver from the other company. The driver informed me that he had listed 5 complete pages of exceptions (damages) at the warehouse when he picked up from Hilldrup. Members of his crew described the haphazard way they found items of our household leaning against walls unpadded or stacked in vaults During the 2nd delivery of our household items on 11/5, the second driver told us of the unprofessional behavior of the Hilldrup warehouse staff. He described how they laughed at him and stated that he couldn't get our entire overflow on his truck either. Luckily he ignored their taunts and did so. It is critical to note that this driver brought 4000 of the original 15040 pounds loaded (27%); a remarkable miss in estimating trailer capacity for a professional moving company who had in their possession our items and had delivered them to their warehouse in their truck. At the placing of our household items into Hilldrup storage is where the quality of service stopped and became the 2nd worst relocation we have encountered in eleven other relocations. Numerous items that were not placed in boxes but wrapped in moving pads were damaged. Most of the items have multiple damages. The damaged padded items total approximately 44 items out of 488 items shipped; boxed and unboxed. Additionally, our mattress and box springs came out of the boxes, the Hilldrup crew placed them in, dirty and soiled. It cannot be emphasized sufficiently in words how bad this move was and will continue to be as we go through the claims, repair, and/or replacement processes. I realize every organization has a bad day, but this is a complete process failure initiated at Hilldrup. read more

We moved from Austell GA to Charleston SC and I couldn't be happier with Hilldrup's service, attention to detail, communication, and the move. From sales to the final delivery, the experience couldn't have been better - in particular the operational management of the move was done expertly to the final detail. My contact was pro-active all the way - I even drove out to Lawrenceville and picked up wardrobe and other boxes for packing at no charge (used boxes, but they worked fine). The moving team (on both ends) was very experienced in packing and moving and they were fast - except for a well-deserved meal/rest break, they hauled a**. The price was WELL worth the peace of mind and safety/security of a known mover. But the price was not the highest and not the lowest - but it was less than I thought it was going to be for a cross state move with a fully loaded 18-wheeler. Never use this company EVER--BAD CHOICE OF company. They lose, damage, and break your personal belongings then insult you with a measly settlement. Have no answer as how they lost items that never made it to my new location. Months after boxes have been emptied they "offer" to come and help me unpack to FIND my lost items. How crazy is that. Nothing left to be unpacked but I NEVER received LOST items-- some were 2 family heirloom handmade quilts!!!! read more

Please beware if you are going to store your belongings in the Lawrenceville, Ga. storage facility. Unfortunately our house in Texas was not available to move into when we left Ga. so our household items were packed for storage. That went well. However, when our items arrived in Texas from the storage facility in Ga. the nightmare began. I would say 90% of all of our furniture was mared, scratched and or damaged. The trailer that our belongings were delivered in looked as though it hauled mulch and was not cleaned before loading our items. It was so bad when the moving crew was unloading they were taking pictures in awe of the condition of how everything was packed and damaged. For example, antique cane back dining chairs unwrapped and boxes on top of them, broken arm to our couch, torn material on the couch, a hole in a teak wood entertainment unit, the washer looked like something large fell on it it goes on and on. Oh, and not to mention some lost items that we didnt notice at the time of unloading because we were so distraught so they denied the claim for those and offer you a small settlement. These are your belongings they damaged and lost and they just brush it off with a tiny claim settlement. Thanks, I would have rather my belongings back in their orginial condition . read more
