This place is across from Ricker Triangle and a rafting company and it's probably a good option if you're looking for a place to pick up a few last minute needs before a hiking or rafting trip. We went here in search of wine and beer. They had craft beer, a few better options than the gas station across the street, but they had no wine. The wine shortage wasn't a huge deal, because I later found the best wine options just downstairs from the Inn where I was staying. The name is a pretty good description of it though.. Not your average city convenient store.

Great little store. The fried pies are to die for! The chocolate and apple are the best! Store has pretty much everything you need.

It all looked really good and made us regret not cooking dinner at our cabin at least one night.

I saw that there was a Publix in Pigeon Forge and knew that's where we'd need to go to get our picnic supplies! Because we had flown in (and didn't have picnic basket on our pack list), I knew that we needed to get a small cooler to keep our drinks and sandwiches cool on the warm spring day. Fortunately, Publix had a nice variety of small lunch box size coolers and we found one for a reasonable price that was perfect for what we needed and would collapse down for easy packing to bring it home. We then made our way to the deli and got fresh, deli made sandwiches made with boar's head meats and cheeses. They're fully customizable and we very much enjoyed them! We were also able to grab some fruit, pretzel crisps, boar's head hummus, and bottled beverages to round out our picnic. Everything was great, prices were reasonable, and we enjoyed a beautiful picnic in this beautiful area. One note would be that the deli does get busy. We were there in the ease of spring (ie: no big National Park crowds) and we still had to wait in a bit of a line for our deli sandwiches. So, just something to factor into scheduling. That said, we didn't mind a bit and the sandwiches were worth the wait. Get to it!

I went on the recommendation of some family that was also vacationing in the area and was definitely pleased with how well kept it was, and how even with a crowd everything was clean and neat. We had some of their baked goods, which were fantastic as well. Will definitely go again when I'm up in this area!

Pricey, but a very interesting store for such a small town…read more But Hot Springs is a stop-over for both the Appalachian Trail hiker types AND folks treating themselves at the resort and spa and getting IN to some hot springs. So a spot to get geoduck in a time...or a $10 thing of hummus...or fancy frozen pizza....or a single $12 crab cake....is actually pretty on brand! I actually stopped in here several times during my week-long stay in town. Primarily because Vaste Riviere is one of two food spots open every day of the week, and the only one of those two with available outdoor seating. My first visit resulted in the purchase of some dip-type thing to bring back to my Airbnb, a six-pack of beer, and a crab cake. The crab cake was good but I forgot to get any utensils, and whoops....the cleaning crew for my Airbnb arrived AFTER I did, where I intended to eat my meal. So I sat in my car and ate my food with what I could find to use as a sort of spoon... I returned on another day because I wanted a cold beverage after an unexpectedly long hike, and I wanted to drink it outside...so this place was my only option. I also got some pimento cheese dip to bring back to the house with me. Which was...ok. Not the greatest, but y'all...the closest true grocery store appears to be, like, a half hour away. The staff was always lovely and friendly. I would have come back here even more times, if their goods were a little more in my price range or...you know, sometimes after a hike all you want is a burger, not a crab cake. But I like this place, was surprised at its existence, and would certainly recommend it to other folks.

Not only do that have interesting options, all of the prepared items were VERY good too. I felt that the quality was excellent and better than the restaurants in town. The entire concept of this store is pretty interesting. I'd imagine Vaste Riviere has low and high days like most businesses. So, by offering these pre-made items, it allows them to have a broader menu (and probably avoid wasting food). Most of the items are available in the deli case for takeaway. You can heat it up easily or have them do it. Also, in their freezer cases, they have an assortment of local food items. For instance, we got a NC-made Kimchi and it was great. They also have items (i.e. gluten free) that you probably couldn't find nearby. Overall, I'd highly recommend Vaste Riviere if you are spending some time in the area. Great option for a takeaway meal in your cabin or room. Also, with the COVID-19 situation right now, they seem to have it under control and are taking protective measures. Support them!!

What a pleasant surprise this cafe was. Friendly service and a decent sized menu. We ordered at the counter and found a seat in the cozy back room. We would have sat outside but it was a bit too hot. The food came out hot and fast and OMG the portions were huge. I'm not kidding when I say, this was the best chicken salad I've ever had. The croissant was loaded! And so was my husband's club sandwich. The crispy Brussels were insanely good. Again, some of the best I've ever had. The gentleman that took our order came to check on us and I had to let him know that our lunch was amazing. He told us that it was his family's restaurant and they took food quality very seriously. There is NO doubt about that. I wish this place was in my backyard. Seriously the best lunch we had while on vacation!! I was told their oatmeal cream pies were a hit, so I had to get one for the road. They were not kidding. I tried to make it last a couple days to really savor the sweetness and it was torture. I wanted to inhale the cookie sandwich after the first bite. The cookie was chewy and soft, and the cream balanced it out perfectly. If the owners see this, I need a whole box shipped to me ASAP. The only thing I will note is... while browsing the general store after having lunch, I stopped to let one of the employees know that they had a great selection of items. She proceeds to look at me weird and then ask me if I had two hats on. What? She then reaches out and touches the brim of my hat. She acted like I was stealing. I took my hat off to show that I indeed only had one hat on and I was so put off by the interaction. I hadn't even tried on any of the hats they had for sale. Not sure if they have a problem with people stealing there and are just hyper vigilant, but please do not touch customers. Thank goodness the lunch was fantastic, because I would have been very upset after that interaction. Otherwise a great experience aside from that weird interaction. The general store does have a great selection of gifts and other items.
