Edit: changing my review from 1-star to 5-star b/c it turns out the dry cleaning was with my…read moredoormen the whole time. Fabulous service as always. **** Dry cleaning of jackets, coats and sweater lost. Tried reaching them via the phone (646-415-7667), email, and online request form. No response whatsoever. Went to their listed physical address at 730 Columbus Ave., it turns out to be a liquor store and an apartment building. Neither of them is aware of fancy pants cleaners. It makes me wonder if they are still open for business. To be fair, I have been using their services for 2 years now and this is the first time I really had to contact them for something lost. They have been awesome otherwise, except the lack of responsiveness this time. I will update this review when I manage to reach someone who works there.

I've been using Fancy Pants for W&F, laundering men's shirts, and dry cleaning for almost 3 years…read morenow. They are super convenient and offer excellent value -- cheaper than the nearby cleaners in every neighborhood I've used them so far (Harlem, Morningside Heights, and now FiDi). Not quite as cheap as a place in El Barrio I used to frequent, but that place was also cash only, and of course did not offer pickup / delivery service. Like any service, Fancy Pants is not perfect. Over the years I've had: * One pair of custom wool suit trousers completely ruined. Looks like it was put thru the wash on high heat; came back scratchy and 4 inches shorter. After sending it back for examination, we settled on $100 store credit toward future orders. * High end flannel shirts lost their brushed luster after just 1-2 washes. I suspect they did not follow my special instructions, but instead machine dried them with the rest of the normal cotton shirts. I did not complain, simply opting to hand wash such items myself from then on...IMO, it's best to leave the "special instructions" section to stain treatment & dry cleaning, rather than freeform requests. * Twice, an entire load of W&F was swapped with someone else's. Both times, they called me promptly (before I had even discovered it!) and exchanged the bag asap. * A few misc items that don't belong to me have appeared in my W&F. Nothing serious, just the occasional sock or panty. The one time it was multiple items in the same wash, I emailed them a photo, which they promptly identified and picked up within the hour. All in all, I'd call this above average. Notably, I've never lost a button off any of my shirts or jackets, nor had a sleeve or collar ripped -- usually those symptoms are par for the course with automated press machines over the long haul, unless you pay $5+ for your shirts to be hand finished, which I do not. Nor have I had any permanent stains, nor had dyes bleeding to/from other garments. Occasionally, it takes more than 1 email or voicemail to get Veronica's attention, but once we're in touch they are quite responsive. I'm happy to be an ongoing customer.

HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE - NEVER BRING ANYTHING YOU CARE ABOUT TO HALLAK CLEANERS!!!!…read more I brought my satin Armani evening dress to Hallak. The dress was over $5,000 and this was the first time it was dry cleaned. They didn't protect the zipper pull and the paint was completely ruined on the zipper pull as rubbed off. Then, I called to speak with Leah who informed me that my dress wasn't ruined even though the zipper looked terrible and the zipper could just be re-painted to match the green dress. I called Armani in NY and in Milan to try to replace the piece, as well as Bergdorf Goodman but it was unfortunately not possible. When I called Leah to tell her to ask her how they were going to handle it, she said Mr. Hallak wanted to see the dress so I dropped it off. Armani said "DO NOT PAINT THE ZIPPER" as you may further ruin the dress and the paint could rub off on the dress. I told this to Leah and was very explicit that I was bringing the dress back only for Mr. Hallak to look at it but I DID NOT authorize them to try to fix it. When I didn't hear back after 5 days from Mr. Hallak, I called again and was told by Leah that Mr. Hallak "didn't want to call me but was taking care of it." I reiterated that they were not authorized to paint the zipper and that Mr. Hallak should call me before touching my dress. I didn't hear back for another few days only to receive an email from Leah that the zipper had been painted and was being returned to me. The zipper was painted but they got paint on my dress and then damaged the fabric in a second spot - probably trying to rub the paint off of it. I am so upset and disgusted with this situation. DO NOT EVER USE THEM FOR ANYTHING AS THEY HAVE NO CARE AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS HORRENDOUS. GO TO JEEVES OR YOUR LOCAL CLEANER AS YOU WILL GET A BETTER OUTCOME. Comments below are empty as Mr. Hallak has my cell and my email. I have asked several times for a phone call and now over Yelp wants to appear as if he wants to communicate. Leah specifically tried to brow beat me with the hope I would go away. They are radio silent but for on yelp.
