Every other shop it felt like they wanted to see what neighborhood I lived in before deciding their price. Needless to say, I went with Serieux. Alvin, was our guy. He was super competent, patient, and explained (without over-explaining) what the process entailed and gave several options for acquiring the needed hardware at different price points. As we were walking the yard to find the water main (house is over 100 years old), we ran into my neighbor who actually was recommended to use Alvin/Serieux from a completely different source, and had already booked him later in the week! So obviously he has a rep for doing great work! Long story longer... the install went great. The final quote came in a little under his original rough bid. And the install quality was top notch. Read on...) who replied shortly after 3:30am with a phone number that does not exist. In fact, "Miranda's Plumbing" does NOT exist. If one taps the link to the "Miranda's Plumbing" website offered on Yelp, one finds it is not a plumbing business at all...instead, it claims to be a brokerage firm called "Miranda Group". A VERY DIFFERENT INDUSTRY ALTOGETHER. If one pursues further and goes to the Secretary of State website in the state where the "Miranda Group" claims to be located, one finds the "Miranda Group" does NOT exist there either...yet several formal complaints have been filed by victimized consumers. Yelp offers "Miranda's Plumbing" their stamp of approval while failing to adequately vet, or even minimally vet, businesses like "Miranda's Plumbing"...aka "Miranda Group". Sadly, consumers lose to scammers, while Yelp profits. Incidentally, many more exploitative scamming "businesses" are also tolerated by Yelp...and, after all, why not? Yelp cares solely about profit, NOT about consumers. Personally, I learned a great deal today about Yelp businesses practices and disappointment followed.

I am honestly shocked when I read some of the negative reviews because that has never been my experience with this company. We had a resident concern where hot water was not reaching her apartment as quickly as others. Tim was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and communicative. He explained exactly what was happening, what the next steps were, and why each step was necessary. Every question I had was answered politely and thoroughly. At the end of each workday, the job site was left spotless--cleaned as if no work had been done at all. The only indication that work was in progress were the safety cones and tape. Everything was washed down, including the surrounding area and even the plants. The job was 100% successful. On the final day, they repaired the sidewalk so well that you would never know it had been disturbed. Their attention to detail and respect for the property truly stood out. He was available the same day I called with a competitive flat rate, so I didn't even hesitate. He showed up promptly and even took his shoes off at the entrance without being asked. When he accidentally broke an outdoor valve while turning my water back on (he didn't turn it off so didn't realize it was turned off at the main in-ground location), he promised to return and fix it for free. That took a few weeks because he went on vacation and then his mom had surgery, but he showed up early the day that we were finally able to connect and took care of it for me.
