On my recent trip to Colorado I stopped by the Beaver Creek Nordic Sports Center to rent some…read moresnowshoe gear for the day. I've rented gear from this location many times before, and it's always been a pleasant experience, but I felt like my recent visit was less than enjoyable. Laurie assisted us, and when I opened the door to the shop she told us to wait outside, she was on the telephone at the time, and it appears that she was the only one in the shop. So we waited outside, and a couple minutes later she comes out and asks us what we need, she seemed a bit frazzled at the time. We let her know that we're here to rent gear for the day. While sitting outside she has us fill out the paperwork and she brings some hiking shoes for us to try on. Once we tried on boots that fit, she asked for our credit cards, and took them back inside the shop to ring us out. It seemed to be taking a little long, so I thought it might be a good idea to check and see what was going on. When I opened the door to the shop she tells me that my credit card is being declined, and I thought that was strange because I just used it to get a cup of coffee within the last 30 mins and it was working fine at that time. I started to approach the counter because I noticed they have a credit card machine with the chip reader and perhaps she needed to insert my card in there for it to work, and once I do that she puts her hand up and tells me "can you just stand over there". She then walks to the front of the counter and my credit card works when she inserts the chip. After that she comes outside to give us our receipts and says we're good to go, and then I ask her to please explain how to put on the snowshoe gear because my mom has never done this before. She did explain the gear and made sure our poles were at the correct height after I asked her to, however as soon as someone else walked up to the shop, she was quickly walking away and I had to raise my voice and say "Wait a second, we would like to use the restroom before we get on the lift can you please give us the code?" The entire interaction with Laurie was very strange. Usually they would give you a map and share their recommendations of where to hike depending on your skills level. I'm not sure if this was stopped due to COVID-19 protocols or if she just forgot to do it. She seemed a bit rushed or perhaps she wants to limit customer interaction as much as possible due to the COVID-19 situation, but whatever the reason I didn't feel like it was good customer service. I've gone on multiple tours and rented gear in the past, and it's always been great. I understand that with the COVID-19 situation some changes needed to be made (i.e. trying on gear outside, leaving your shoes in bins outside), but if an employee is so fearful of what's going on that they come across with an attitude, perhaps they shouldn't be in a customer facing role, there has to be a happy medium. I wish the best for this shop, but definitely feel like they would benefit from having more of a friendly and warm approach, providing excellent customer service at a distance if they want those customers returning. Without customers there will not be a Nordic Center in Beaver Creek, and that would be a real shame because McCoy Park is such a lovely place to explore.

McCoy…read moreused to be a wonderful place with miles and miles of trails dedicated to snowshoing and cross country skiing. But they've changed policies and now you will be competing with downhill skiers and snowboarders for the trails. Serenity and the mystic experience of the mountains is gone! The Nordic Center charges significantly more for the lift ticket up to McCoy, and the experience is so diminished! The people at the Nordic Center are nice enough, but don't bother with tours here or trying to enjoy McCoy if you want to snowshoe or cross country unless you like paying top dollar for not much.

Condo was right at the lifts and the crowds where pretty low-( I'm sure not everyone skis until the lifts close). It seemed that other vacationers where on the older; more established with children. You won't find many black diamond runs here, but it is great skiing, and you can ski over to Bachelors Gulch and Beaver Creek as well, so you have a lot of variety available. Staying in the condos at Arrowhead means walking to the lift, which can't be beat!

(FYI people, the corporation is in Broomfield CO and Vail Ski Resort is in, you know, Vail.) Anyhoo, my family and I have made great memories skiing at Beaver Creek. The ski lessons have been great, especially BEAVO for my kid. The walking pathways have always been free of snow, the people who volunteer or work here have always been friendly. Even in tough conditions, it has been a good time. The surrounding businesses gave the place a small town feel. Good options, but not overwhelming. Parking in a garage can be expensive but they had a good options with the $10 Bear Lot and Elk Lot. Close to I-70 freeway so we haven't had to drive miles on snowpacked roads. Beaver Creek has been worth the extra drive.

We also learned that these passes are good during the summer which I had never known previously. So we took the gondola up the mountain and hiked the meadow loop which was a pleasant two mile easy/leisurely hike. The hike was very enjoyable we may have seen a total of 5 people the entire time. And we encountered some gorgeous scenery from high alpine meadows with tons of alpine wildflowers, stunning views of the mountains, and the trail meandered through the forest. The air was crisp and refreshing and I enjoyed the beautiful chirps of the mountain song birds as well as the lovely sounds of the crickets. This hike really made my day! This hike was a nice reset!! I highly recommend it!!

During the pandemic I understand you have to temper your expectations but this hotel was crazy understaffed. Like one person at the front desk and one valet. That was it. We had to get our bags to and from the room. There apparently was a ski valet but the front desk gave us no clue how to locate it. They just didn't know. They didn't take our skis there. It was plain weird. The signs in the hotel say no skis in the rooms but we had no choice! No one could tell us where the ski valet was. It was located in a non descript door by Christy's. We found it on day two. Also, no one could tell us where the illustrious ski bridge was that supposedly makes the hotel ski in and ski out. We figured it out on our last day of skiing. I believe it is called the Creekside Trail or something. Note the hotel is only ski in. And you have take off your skis to cross a fairly busy road. There is no skiing out from the ski bridge. The room was bigger than usual so that was good. But if the staff can't provide basic information about the hotel, given how much Marriott charges for this hotel, I can't recommend. It's just ok. Might as well stay at the Best Western in Eagle for a fraction of the cost and drive in.

I plan a lot of meetings. In fact, I plan a lot of meetings that I never attend at places I've…read morenever seen, but I manage to muddle through and pull together events that leave people talking about them for months. I couldn't do this without the help of some great resorts that are managed by great people. The past few days, Elkhorn Lodge, hosted several of my ever-picky coworkers for an off site. Each and every person told me how much they liked Elkhorn Lodge - the accommodations and furnishings were top-notch, the hot tubs were roomy and clean, the gym had everything they needed, and even the ski lift was super-close to their condos. I had worked pretty closely with the manager to get the correct A/V and food set up for the conference room, and even that went off perfectly, thanks to my obsessive checking and re-checking. Thanks, Elkhorn Lodge! Maybe some day I'll get a chance to visit, but I am coming without my colleagues or I won't get any peace at all.

They do however strategically take photos so you don't see there isn't a working fireplace so take that into account when booking in the winter. Overall it was a fine stay but I will not be back. I'd rather stay down mountain in Edwards for the same price.

First there are very limited handicap parking and then our unit required using stairs to access. I am waiting for one of us to fall. The rooms are pretty small packed with furniture so we are banging our shins into bed frames. Not only was front desk unhelpful they were pretty rude. I do not see how this facility can possibly be ADA compliant. So many issues for mobility challenge people that are not addressed. Stay somewhere else. Do not endorse this place by staying here. If I could give negative stars, I would.

From the crew at the valet station, the concierge desk (who host daily après ski hot chocolate and fresh-baked cookie parties!), the housekeeping team, the ski valets, the spa attendants, and all of the wonderful F&B folks, the service here is impeccable. Sonja managed every aspect of our affair, ensuring every dimension of a large party was attended to the last detail. Sonja listened to the Bride's comments and discerned solutions that were both creative and thoughtful. We had several dignitaries in our party - two Senators, a US Attorney, and a Fox News commentator - and Sonja saw to it that consideration was made for both their privacy and security. Much of the success of our special event rests with Sonja. The Westin Riverfront Resort & Spa at Avon is an exquisitely fashionable property but it is the staff that makes the experience special. You're set up with coffee, tea and some soap for the dishwasher and washing machine. Fabulous shower, plenty of linens. The fireplace is an awesome touch. The staff will provide a humidifier on request. Good: the valet team gets an 7/10. They mostly accomplished getting my car to me when I needed it. They were pleasant for the most part. Not a lot of them offered to assist me with my bags. My valet call got "missed" or forgotten the day we left. NOT so ok: 1) Surprise valet cost:After everything was pre-paid. We were notified that if we were bringing a car, it would be a mandatory $45/day/car cost. When booking through Booking.com it wasn't clear, but there might be some notes on the website. 2) Unclear on housekeeping : After the first night I was expecting the beds to be turned. I asked the front desk and a young woman politely explained that housekeeping was additional cost per day unless you were staying for over 7-Days. This was fine but would have been nicer to know in advance. 3) Poor communication : We requested late checkout at 9am the day of our departure. It was confirmed by the Manager that we were good to check out at 11 instead of 10. At 10:01 our room received a call. At 10:05 we had someone knocking at our door. At 10:20 we had a maintenance person at our door. We called to the front desk to ask the to stop sending individuals and we were working on leaving. The manager was extremely apologetic and made sure we were comfortable leaving. David is the only reason this review gets a 3 star review instead of 1. Very kind and understanding. In short it is definitely worth the stay but just be prepared for some weird one offs and hope that you don't get kicked out right at 10am. I've been a Worldmark owner for many years! We've stayed a many resorts. This was the most…read more"average" resort from the Worldmark collection so far!!! They say that all rooms are "presidential", however, they just seem to be larger in size with fancier soaps, dishes and silverware. Really no seasons ir anything and no other amenities. Just because you have fancy silverware, plates, cups, and pots and pans does not make this a high end location. Being In the center of town is convenient, however, if you've been to a Worldmark location, you know most resorts are on the outskirts of town." as a sidenote, be prepared to spend a fortune when parking your vehicle. There's no other locations to park other than the resort itself and it's valet only..... an hefty $45 a day.... And then the valets have signs out for tips.... Of course. While there is no pool or outdoor activities, they do try to have events in the owners lounge, or snacks in the lobby. Again, more of an average type of event. Considering this is a "presidential" room location. You would expect more. For the most part, stuff was very nice. They all seem to be well informed of the area, and always had a smile on their face.
