I'll start with my experience with contractors: This is our second home. My first is a duplex where I did 2 kitchens and 4 bathroom renovations. I used 2 separate contractors (1 good and 1 bad) for rough work at that location and did a lot of the finishing myself including cabinets, and fixtures, garage doors, Spackle, moldings, and paint. My previous "go to contractor" could not handle the structural work which my wife and I were a little upset about. We had faith in our "go to" guy and some of you may know what it's like finding someone good. With that said, we're familiar with the good, the bad, and the ugly of home renovation. This time around I hired it all to Legacy on a recommendation from a good friend. I had Dave meet me at the house prior to closing to get his assessment of the work we wanted to do and later, an estimate. Their estimate was competitive and I could tell after speaking with Dave a few times that he knew his stuff and he was up front and honest. They seemed to have good connections with all the assets they needed including an architect, plumber, and electrician. The work at our new home required some structural work along with electrical and plumbing. Old closets and walls were going up, and a new main supporting beam had to go in. HVAC had to be moved. The bathroom was turned in to two connected parts with a powder room featuring a dual sink, and a new walk in closet was built. Two separate double windows were removed and a new casing was put in for a single triple window layout to accommodate the walk in closet. Legacy worked fast and clean. Their experience in carpentry was very evident in the quality of their work and their understanding of what a client's expectations may be. Dave communicated issues well also. I'm aware that nothing in renovation estimates is really final until you start taking the walls down. They identified small issues with HVAC and a hurdle with some of the structural design which Matt and Dave took their time to find appropriate solutions to. All of the rough and final inspections were first time approvals and the guys at Legacy were very familiar about the processes. They put down drop cloths in areas in the main entrance ways. They even went to great lengths to minimize the Spackle dust to accommodate my wife's allergies. All in all, a job well done. My wife and I are now working on paint colors. We have since moved in to our new master bedroom and are using all the newly renovated areas. It came out awesome! Every visitor has been impressed and we highly recommend Legacy every time. I will be posting photos as soon as the rooms get painted.

Matt and Dave and their crew are everything you want in a contractor. They bring expertise to every…read moreaspect of the job, whether it's the heavy duty construction work or the fine details. We initially used them for a project where we removed multiple walls, including a load-bearing exterior wall, and installed a 20-foot accordion door. It was a unique job, and they handled everything from installing the 900 lb. steel beam to hanging a wallpaper mural that required exact precision. And on the few things they had to sub out, like electrical, they brought in fairly priced, excellent subcontractors that we had great experiences with. On top of that, the guys at Legacy are punctual, professional, and just great people. There are a million small decisions to make during the process, and they always consulted us, but had very solid recommendations--whether it was how to handle unexpected issues that didn't show up in the architect's schematics or design elements like trim styles and shades of stain. They provided the best bid we received, stayed on budget, and completed the project ahead of time. I can't say enough good things about them. In a matter of weeks, they transformed our home, while minimizing the impact to our daily lives. We've since used them for smaller maintenance projects and are about to engage them for multiple other larger projects. We'll never look for another contractor again!

The scope of the project was a planned remodeling of my master bedroom and master retreat which included new flooring throughout, new lighting fixtures, painting, and installation of a new electric linear fireplace. I was impressed by Sam on our initial phone communications- he was extremely professional and offered many suggestions that we ultimately included in the final project. After we signed the contract, he started work on the exact day that he had promised, and he and his team worked every day until it was completed. They actually finished a bit earlier than stated on the contract! Each of Sam's workers were very respectful of my property, and always left the work area very clean. Throughout the process, Sam showed a particular attention to detail that I truly appreciated. He has a good eye for color, and helped me to pick out colors for my walls, flooring and fireplace tile that really complement each other. Sam and his team constructed a wall length framing for the fireplace that truly exceeded my expectations. The finished product is simply breathtaking! Sam and his team will be returning after the holidays for the 2nd phase of the project, which will transform the master retreat into a custom designed walk in closet. I am certainly looking forward to working with Sam again!

Well, upon surveying the site, the sales manager exclaimed that "the project is too difficult to undertake." So my neighbor is now looking for a company that has more "skills and experience" than this one.
