This place is GREAT!! I had 40 pounds of paper -- over ten years worth of financial records -- and that was NEVER going to be done with my teeny, tiny shredder. I ran a search for personal shredding and came up with three places. One was too far away, another was also in Woburn but was not NAID-certified (very important, look it up). Neither would do my shredding immediately. When I found Highland Shredding's website, I sent owner Harry Paicopolos an e-mail for an estimate. He got back to me quickly with a rate that EASILY beat the other two. When I got to the facility, I was even more impressed with the fact that he asked if I wanted it done while I waited, which I was thrilled with. He built the secure facility with a window and a camera and monitor so you can actually sit there and watch your documents being pulverized! It was AMAZING to see how 40 pounds of paper completely filled up an industrial-sized laundry bin. It took him all of maybe eight minutes to make my papers go bye-bye. Hell, I was so impressed I even tipped him! Harry is a really nice guy who started this business after his daughter's identity was stolen ten years ago. From the bins and bins full of paper business is good -- as it should be. It's more important now that ever to make sure your documents don't fall into the wrong hands. After researching local shredding options and seeing the positive reviews on Yelp, I gave Harry at Highland a call. He was very friendly and the drive to Woburn seemed a no-brainer. Everyone is very professional and you have the option to watch as your documents are securely shredded. Mary, who manages the office, could not have been nicer and Adam, Harry's nephew who did the shredding, helped carry the heavy bags from my car. What a relief this has been. I had many years of financial statements for myself as well as for several companies that I needed to shred, so after googling for shredding services in the Boston area -- and only finding faceless websites that promised to connect you with a shredding service if you filled out a long form -- I found Highland Shredding on Yelp. I called Highland and spoke to the owner Harold, who was both courteous and direct (in a good way). He was able to give me immediate answers to my various questions, and so I scheduled a time to do a drop off at the Highland facility. Once I arrived, Harold assisted me with unloading the many boxes, milk crates, and paper bags of documents that I had loaded in the back of my truck, and he allowed me to watch through a window in his office that overlooks his shredding room as he proceeded to destroy my documents. Over the phone, Harold had quoted me a $25 minimum for 3 cartons. By my estimation, I had double that, but he only wanted to charge me $30 total. I gladly paid him $40, which was still less than what I had expected to pay for immediate service. Before I departed, Harold explained to me that the shredded paper gets picked up three times a week by a recycling facility. He also explained his pick-up operation -- but honestly, I felt the 30-minute drive to Woburn was worth it so I could see Highland's facility in operation (and my documents actually being shredded). Woburn location is convenient, but use navigation because they're not on a main street and in a little industrial area. They were really helpful, very friendly and quite affordable. I contacted Harry Paicopolas at Highland Shredding who quoted me a price for his shredding services that I couldn't refuse. If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Shredding is an expensive proposition and it's really hard to find someone to do residential/small job shredding. Look no further, this company is amazing! My mother is elderly and in the process of moving to a senior community. She is one of those people who has saved every piece of paper she ever saw. Every bill, every canceled check, every bank statement--going back to the 70s! In today's world that's a big deal because there is a [expletive] waiting behind every dumpster ready to steal your identity. I was desperate to find some easy way to get rid of all this stuff. ENTER HIGHLAND SHREDDING AND HARRY PAICOPOLOS. I emailed late Wednesday night to get a quote and by Friday morning these guys were at the door exactly on time (a few minutes early actually) with their mobile shredding truck. They loaded bags and boxes of docs into the truck and let me watch on a little video display outside truck as all of the docs were pulverized. It was fabulous and the whole thing took about 10 minutes. The cost was $135 and was so convenient. We could have gone to their facility for less but to me this was worth it, i would have paid double what they charged. Also, for an extra $5 they took the hard drive from my mother's old computer to destroy back at their facility. This is not only a very safe and economical way to get rid of stuff, it's green too.
