Great vibes with a great ambiance as well as great background music that makes you feel as if you are in a French Pixar cafe in a sorts. The cheese danish and iced coffee was sublime and highly recommend. The person behind the counter knows what they're doing and couldn't have asked for a better experience. 5/5 stars very deserved.

Was visiting from Kansas and stopped in early on a Saturday. Cozy place, really cool vibe and the gentleman working was great. Delicious coffee and big selection of pastries. If in Golden and want an awesome little coffee shop, this is your place!

Cold brew & hummingbird special

Great quick stop for coffee before hiking! We looked up a few different coffee spots and this was the best for an easy, light breakfast before hiking all day. We got bagels with egg & bacon and it was the perfect pre hike fuel. We got a cold brew with almond milk & honey and then the hummingbird special. It felt quiet and local with couples and people working. Would definitely come back!

We had a great experience here. The cashier was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. I ordered an iced vanilla chai and a cheese bagel with cream cheese and it was really good. The chai was delicious. The inside is very cozy and the art they had on the wall was nice to look at. Great place!

Cappuccino and bagel sandwich

I popped into the cafe for a cappuccino and breakfast. I ordered at the counter and found a seat after. The barista was super friendly and brought my order out to my table. The vibe inside is cozy- as is the surrounding town. The cappuccino was foamy and delicious and the bagel was tasty. Overall, a good value for the price I paid.

This might have been my favorite coffee shop the whole trip. Settled on the edge of downtown Golden up on a hill, you get beautiful views of the mountains above and the town below. The coffee selection is unique and my latte was delicious! Really flavorful without being overpoweringly sweet. The guy working inside gave great recommendations and was really fun to talk to. He directed us to some other really good eateries and drinkeries in town. The food selection is quite limited but the coffee and the views were right up our alley.

Crazy busy but handled it with grace. Came here after yoga and unknown to us there was a Christmas parade downtown so there was an enormous line. The barista had a cheery attitude and in the time it took him to check us out his coworkers 'the people behind the curtain' had already made our drinks. We both got some of their seasonal drinks, sweater weather latte - Lavender and Cardamon, and a pumpkin pie chai. Both were delicious and had balanced but noticeable flavors. I have come here many times before and it's never been so busy but there is often a warm buzz of activity. The ambiance is cozy and local.

Vanilla latte and iced coffee

A cozy downtown vibe with an incredible view of the mountains from the outside deck area. We enjoyed a morning stop here before walking around Golden. The vanilla latte was excellent but could have been 5-10 degrees hotter. Next time I will ask for extra hot. The iced coffee was skillfully prepared but became watery over time. The breakfast sandwiches were good. The service was fine and the local vibe made us feel at home.

I always love stopping in Higher Grounds while in Golden! Close to both downtown and the Mines Campus, and a convenient stop if you're staying at the Table Mountain Inn. There's seating outdoors on the deck, and plenty of tables inside for colder months. The employees are always so friendly, and I love the one barista who always jokes with customers - he's great! I love their coffee and the seasonal flavors they have on the menu. I always enjoy getting their latte with oat milk. I ordered the cheese danish which I really enjoyed, and in the past I've tried their bagels which I also liked a lot. This is a great little place if you want to study, read a book, get together with a friend or two, or just grab a coffee to go. The plants inside are cute, and I love how this place has such a cozy, warm feel. Great place to get coffee in Golden!

Coffee and The Sunday Denver Post.

The coffee is quite good. Like the fact they had several copies of the Sunday Denver Post around to read.

Place and service were fine but the coffee was not good! Got lattes and tasted only like watered down milk. Zero coffee taste. Sad.

Can you sit-in and study here? If so are there outlets for laptops?

And some coffee places that were supposed to be open weren't. We then found Cafe 13, and we were so glad we did. It has a very inviting, cozy atmosphere. And all of the food piled up behind the glass looked amazing. We were only getting coffee, but I knew we had to try something to eat. We ordered some sort of berry scone. It was amazing. The coffee was hot and delicious, too. And everyone was very friendly that we encountered as well. We sat at a long communal table in the front room (there are other rooms to explore/sit as well). We never made it back to Cafe 13 on our visit, but if we're in the area again, it'll definitely be the first spot we hit when looking for coffee and a light breakfast.

I opted for the Thai Chicken Salad and a bowl of Green Chili. Both were good. The salad had fresh ingredients and was filling. The chili had great flavor and a good kick of spiciness to it. I definitely ordered too much food for myself! I didn't realize how large the salad was going to be but I was happy about the portion size for the cost. The staff is very friendly. I would say this place is a bit loud- there were a lot of conversations going on around me. If you plan to come here for a quiet lunch or to get some work done, I recommend bringing headphones.

The staff was incredibly kind and had great recommendations since the menu has so many options. We brought our three picky little kids, and there were little buckets of Legos for them to play with, which was such a thoughtful touch. The kids loved all the items we tried on the extensive kids menu, especially the homemade GoGurt and hummus! We can't wait to save room for the Dunkaroos next time! My husband and I shared the espresso martini flight, and they were hands-down the best espresso martinis we've ever had. Nothing else even comes close! The food was incredible from beginning to end, and it's honestly hard to pick a favorite. The breakfast sandwich reminded my husband of New York, and the Shakshouka Skillet was an absolute dream. The roasted carrot hummus was exceptional - I've never had anything like it! There really is something for everyone here. Of course, we ordered way too much food, and the leftovers made a delicious dinner the following night! It felt like a we got to have a special date while our kids were happy, entertained, and well-fed. Highly recommend! We can't wait to come back soon and bring friends!
