Side of marinara sauce

Small place hidden a bit that is a complete gem! It can get busy, it's small and just small amount of staff. It was not busy when we first arrived but soon they were. The pizza is made fresh before your eyes , calzones and salads on bar are fresh and homemade! Everything from sauce to crust they make.. sooo delicious and fresh. No frills just great food and a small little eclectic ambience. There deserts of cheese cake and cinnamon roll are also very good when you are lucky enough to get before they run out.

Calzone aka (FRED)

Amazing calzone! Meat heaven wrapped in a crispy garlic bread blanket! The owner is super friendly and everything is made from scratch. An unbelievable value!

This is one of my favorite memories when I was growing up here. And coming back, the Pizza Sauce Fred is still exactly as I remember and still awesome!

KINGPIN REVIEW Road Tripping 2022 I came here last year and it was good enough for a return visit the pizza taste fresh and hand made. A quiet atmosphere and appeared to be a home at one time. Stop by, I don't think you could go wrong. Thanks for the memories Dave

a half eaten pizza on a pan

Let me start with a few things. 1. The food is absolutely fantastic, you cannot get better pizza in 50 miles. 2. The atmosphere is super cool! 3. They are terribly slow in any semblance of a rush. You may wait 20 minutes for food, or an hour. Get a salad bar and hangout and wait. It's worth it. 4. They are under new ownership recently, and the owners are doing a great job on everything. They are working with people who are getting frustrated with the wait. They are figuring it out, and every visit gets better!

Cornbread from Scratch! Green Chili Chicken soup!!! Yum yum!!! And the best part Coke Zero on the fountian!!!!

Real yummy. Simple place with nice waitress and some really interesting pizza combos…read more I got the veggie pizza and added pepperoni (I mean, it's Texas...) and husband got Delta Spice. Delta spice had a base of tomatillo and crispy onion strings to name a few ingredients and it was awesome! We came over here from Commerce and glad we did, it was worth the trip. Thumbs up!

It was pretty quiet inside and had a relaxed, seat yourself vibe that I actually really enjoyed. I had two servers who were both kind and attentive without being overbearing, which made the whole experience feel easy and comfortable, especially dining solo. My absolute favorite part was the Greek salad. I ordered the half portion and it was so fresh, came out quickly, and had the most delicious vinaigrette. I'd go back just for that alone! I also tried the sweet and spicy pizza. It wasn't very saucy, and the topping combination wasn't totally my favorite. I think next time I would keep it simple with pineapple and pepperoni. That said, the crust was incredible, crispy on the outside but still soft and doughy on the inside, which I loved. They didn't have balsamic glaze when I asked, but I got a side of ranch instead and honestly, it worked perfectly. As someone who is from the Dallas area, it's not anything over the top or fancy. BUT for the location, it's a really solid little spot. Easy, welcoming, and definitely worth a visit if you're in the area!

When I came across this place online I wasn't really sure what to expect. When you're in McAlester…read moremost times people always tell you "Go to Pete's Place! 1925 Pete's Place!" Well I went to Pete's around 12:30 for lunch and it was dead. I was also struggling with whether or not I wanted to tackle an Italian Meal in the middle of the day, so I started to do some research. The reviews for The Compass were pretty good and the pics looked great so I made the 10-15 drive in a different direction to give it a shot. Now upon entering I was even more thrown off. This restaurant sits at the back of a coffee/antique style store in one of those old downtown strips. (Pic posted) You know the ones! Hesitantly I pressed on to the back. I was greeted by a nice young man who sat me and then approached by a very nice waitress. This place was great about giving recommendations. Although the seemed to be know for the pizzas and pasta I just wasn't feeling it so I started to ask about the menu a bit. I felt like the people working their enthusiastically voiced their opinions about what they liked and it all sounded great. I myself really like wings and always tend to try them if they are on the menu. With what appeared to be a lot of great flavors to choose from I went with the traditional approach and got the standard Buffalo sauce as my app. I don't know what they are feeding their chickens in McAlester but these great big party size wings made their way to the table with an excellent buttery rich buffalo coating on them and they were really good. Now I'm not going to sell you on the best ever, like I said I've had tons of wings over the year and that's always a tough call. Plus I plan on saving the best part for last. The Jerk Chicken Sandwich This thing kicked ass, a perfectly fried chicken breast on a house made bun perfectly accompanied by a pickled coleslaw and mango habanero jelly. This place really caught me off guard and I highly recommend giving it a shot! I know I will be and I will be taking the next recommendation from the staff. That is if I can stop myself from getting that Jerk Sandwich again!

Normally, I would think that there would be more flavor, but not as tasty as I thought it would be, especially if it's wood oven made pizza. Service The server is friendly with that sweet southern hospitality. She deserves 5 stars. Ambiance Music background, clean and spacious place. Sadly, I had to give 3 stars not because of the staff or the ambient, but because of the food.
