This place is a joke. We stopped in for dinner and asked for tortilla soup and chicken enchiladas. The sauce for the enchiladas tasted like it was from a can. The tortilla soup consisted of a handful of shredded chicken in a broth with a teaspoon of pico de gallo thrown in as an afterthought. There were no vegetables, no cheese, and zero tortillas served in this "soup". It came with lime and saltine crackers. It's not worthy to be called tortilla soup. read more

Getting off the Turnpike, this was a wonderful stop on a long road trip. It is a happening spot for lunch, it appeared, because we had to park a block away. Don't let the humble decor disuade you. My husband is Mexican, and he loved the food. Good rice and beans are always the giveaway, and they had them. My teeenage son loved the free queso dip, and another son filled up on those so he didn't finish his kids meal. It took me back to a small town authentic Mexican restaurant in northeast Colorado from my childhood...cheese enchiladas I had never found the equal of until today. Order them with chile sauce, and ask them to add onion and lettuce for a real flavor treat. We cleaned our plates and then ordered the sopapillas. Have them with honey or with ice cream on top. First: I do not give 5 star reviews except for perfection. This place is it for Mexican food. I'm from San Francisco and this was THE hidden gem during my 9 days in OklahomaTexas. Driving to Dallas from Tulsa I stopped in for lunch after seeing yelp reviews of 4.5 stars. Looking at the lunch menu I couldn't believe the great selection of specials for $6.50. Yes $6.50!I took the Waitress' suggestion and ordered the beef enchiladas. One with Red salsa and the other with quest sauce. A large platter with lovely rice and beans and 2 perfect enchiladas with lovely ground beef and great taste. Food: enchiladas, beans & rice = 5; Chips - light, crispy thin and fresh and salsa ( very fresh) =5 The Mexican refried beans were some of the best I've ever had outside of Mexico, and I've had a few. Enchiladas with FLAVORFUL ground beef ( not shredded). Both the red salsa and quest sauces were fresh and flavorful! Service: Prompt, Friendly and nice smiles = 5 Decor: simple but refreshingly so. No stupid loud music. Clean ( including restrooms) and easy conversations = 5 Price: At $6.50 ( including tax!) this was 5.5. read more

Nice little place, friendly staff and very quick with the order. Beer in a frosted ,salted mug and free queso when you sit down. I had the quesidillas, nice but could use a tad more bite. Wonderful little whole in the wall. Difficult to see from the road and the decor is plain, but don't let that deter you. The food (enchiladas and cold beer in a frozen salted mug) and service were awesome! We would definitely go back! Next time...street tacos. read more

I stopped in from out of town and I'm glad I did!!! I didn't see what I wanted on the menu. I asked to talk to the owner (George) and he came over. I asked if I could order off the menu, and he said yes. So, I ordered chilaquiles!!!! Great chips and queso, but the salsa wasn't hot. I mixed it with their 'taco sauce' and it brought the heat level up to where I like it. Very accommodating, great food, and attentive staff! I'm looking forward to visiting and eating here again! We drive out of our way and feed the kids snacks to make it here when driving from Louisiana to visit family. The staff is super friendly and fast. We try new items every time we stop because the food is consistently good. We've had fajita nachos, street tacos, chimichangas, and enchiladas. Everything is so reasonably priced and cooked fresh. I had street tacos this time, 1 shrimp, 2 pastor, and 1 chicken. All of them had lots of well seasoned meat and fresh cilantro. So good!! They also have free cheese dip, not just salsa-just a bonus to amazing food and service! Big clean bathrooms and large open dining's spaces make this a great place to stop and hang out after traveling several hours. Everyone leaves full and happy. read more

This place was terrific. Food service was so fast I was almost scared to take the first bite. I mean, how can food served this fast (under 5 minutes) possibly be any good? Boy was I ever wrong. I had the Carne Asada with four of the best shrimp I've ever had. How do you get GREAT shrimp in Hugo, Texas? But it was amazing. The Carne Asada was the second best I've ever had, but a very, very, very close second. It was simply outstanding. And the best brown rice I've ever had, and I'm not a huge fan of brown rice. My wife had enchiladas, soft taco and rice and beans. She loved hers as well. All together we spent about $30. Easily worth the trip from Paris. Can't wait to go back! read more

I really like this place. I have been here half a dozen times and it is good every time. Service is always fast and the staff has always been nice. The chips are thin and crisp. The queso has been spot on. I must admit that I am addicted to the street tacos here. They are $1.50 beef, pork, or chicken. All are great, but I am hooked on the beef street tacos. If you are in Hugo you should try these street tacos. read more

This was the worst Mexican food I've ever eaten. My kids ordered chicken quesadillas and they were so awful he asked for some rice. Grilled cheese was nasty. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. We left and went to eat at Dairy Queen after spending $50 eating there. read more
