I stopped by this spot today while staying at the Emma Grace. It's just a quick walk around the block, which was super convenient. It was pretty quiet inside and had a relaxed, seat yourself vibe that I actually really enjoyed. I had two servers who were both kind and attentive without being overbearing, which made the whole experience feel easy and comfortable, especially dining solo. My absolute favorite part was the Greek salad. I ordered the half portion and it was so fresh, came out quickly, and had the most delicious vinaigrette. I'd go back just for that alone! I also tried the sweet and spicy pizza. It wasn't very saucy, and the topping combination wasn't totally my favorite. I think next time I would keep it simple with pineapple and pepperoni. That said, the crust was incredible, crispy on the outside but still soft and doughy on the inside, which I loved. They didn't have balsamic glaze when I asked, but I got a side of ranch instead and honestly, it worked perfectly. As someone who is from the Dallas area, it's not anything over the top or fancy. We were camping at Cooper state park and decided to try this restaurant. It was very good! I had a lunch special with pepperoni pizza and small Caesar salad. My husband had Supreme pizza with a small Greek salad. Both of us really enjoyed our meal, and our waiter was friendly and very attentive. Real yummy. Simple place with nice waitress and some really interesting pizza combos. I got the veggie pizza and added pepperoni (I mean, it's Texas...) and husband got Delta Spice. Delta spice had a base of tomatillo and crispy onion strings to name a few ingredients and it was awesome! We came over here from Commerce and glad we did, it was worth the trip. Wood fired pizza in Cooper, Texas? Talk about something out of the norm especially for a town of only 1900+ people, but what a fantastic surprise. We were in town the night before and saw La Pietra Woodfired Pizza, and it called to us. So we came in today with our friends that joined us camping at Coopers Lake SP Doctors Creek Section. The first thing you notice is how clean and polished everything is. We came in way after the lunch crowd (2pm) so it was more of a late lunch very early dinner for us. We were greeted with hello's and please sit anywhere, while no one wore mask that was not an issue as Texas was one of the first states to allow its people to decide if they wanted masks or not, not controlled by government. The lunch special looked amazing for $8 you could have an 8in single topping pizza w/ a salad or go with Lasagna. We decided after looking over the menu we would order a couple of their 12 and 16 inch pizza's. We were not disappointed. Our friends order the Spicy Delta which all I can say is FABULOUS, it was topped with fried onion strings and slices of rib eye steak. Now please be warned due to the cost of beef right now the price on the menu is not accurate and they bring it to your attention if ordered. Our friends loved the pizza and actually said they would have enjoyed it even without the steak as it had great flavors. My wife and daughter ordered the Bar-B-Que Chicken pizza with purple onion only on half as my daughter is not a fan and they were very accommodating. They both raved on how moist the chicken was, not over cooked and had a really good grilled flavor topped with cilantro and bar-b-que sauce. The crust was perfectly cooked and not chewy like some thick crusts can be. I ordered the Supreme and I was very happy with my selection it had multiple meats plus mushrooms, black olives, red bell pepper with a nice tomato base sauce that was not over powering. The crust I have to say it was one of my favorites because its not a thin crispy crust but it was not a thick chewy crust either it, it was perfect balance of the two, cooked with some good burned marks in just the right spots. The staff could be a little friendlier but they kept our drinks full and we might have gotten spoiled by the friendliness of our waiter the night before at Tejano's. All in all we will try and come back before we leave on Monday but if not when in this area you have to give it a try, we will AGAIN. read more

Even in the least populous parts of Texas, this boy from Brooklyn seeks out pizza; for it is truly the manna of life. Hopes were high visiting La Pietra, considering some of the killer reviews on Yelp and the fact that they have a real wood burning oven. The restaurant itself is nondescript and clean. The three people working there all were maskless, which did not sit well with me. Even the cashier/ server wore no mask. On to the pizza. I ordered two of La Pietra's specialty pies; a margherita and a delta spice. The good: the thinness of the crust allowed for the flavors of the toppings to shine. The tomatillo sauce and onion straw combination on the delta spice pie with queso fresco and cilantro and steak was unique and delicious. The steak was a bit chewy and had a few pieces of grizzle. The margherita pie would have been excellent, but it was downgraded because of lousy, not-quite-ripe tomatoes. The crust was the weakest part of both pizzas. While it was extremely thin, it was tasteless and the outer crust had the texture of a soft breadstick without any of the crustiness. There was a slight char on the bottom, but again, no crustiness. And, together, both pizzas came to almost $45.00 with tax. Not bad pizza, and maybe even really good pizza for Cooper Texas, but it's really just average pizza. read more

Today 07/16/24 me and my husband and a friend went to what is now called pizzaria and pub in cooper tx. It was la pietra but closed and now reopened with the same owner. It was our 3rd time and we have usually brought 3 to 4 people with each time. Every time we have gone the only complaints were the bread isn't toasted enough. Tonight I specifically requested my bread be toasted more. Mind you every time we have been there the place has no one eating there. This was no different. But the lasagna is good. Our salads came out at the same time as meal. Not great but I let that slide. My bread was hardly toasted and limp. I said I need that toasted more. She said okay and brought out another piece that was the same. I said can you please put some butter on it and toast it for a few minutes. She said no the owners said no. I spoke to owner and he totally refused to toast the bread saying that is how we do it. I said but I am paying for it so can't you make it the way I like? he said no but all your meals are free don't worry and he was rude about it. our check was 50 dollars. I said no I don't want anything free I just want my bread darker and crispy. He said that is how we do it and that is it. I said two minutes is gonna kill you? He said if we are busy then it backs the kitchen up. I said you have no one here. The owner is a total jerk who would rather lose hundreds of dollars in business over a piece of bread. I think maybe that is why he went out of business and changed name. He Has no customer service skills. I paid the check and left girls a small tip which I heard him say to them just keep it for yourselves still refusing to take my money. We will not go back and I hope that if anyone goes they like the way he cooks your burger because apparently like the toast it only comes one way. His way or the hwy. The Mexican food place next door was super busy and always has been when we go. Maybe that is where we will go from now on. read more

The blackened salmon was some of the best I've ever eaten anywhere. Blackened salmon, mushrooms, risotto, spinach, capers, and lemon. This place is an hour and 15 minutes from my house but I consider driving it just for that one dish. It's nice and clean and the service was good. If you live or travel on Highway 24 north/south between Commerce TX and Paris, save up your appetite. They are open until 9:30 pm on Friday and Saturday. They open from 11:00am-9:00pm weekdays. While staying nearby we noted this place on the square in Cooper, along with a catfish and a tex-mex/mexican restaurant. When it came time for dinner the next day, we decided on pizza. As mentioned in another review, the decor was pretty plain, but that was in contrast to the food. It was great pizza! We had a large (I think on the menu it was 16") with pepperoni and sausage. It came out pretty quickly, hot, and delicious. We also decided to share a piece of cheesecake. Not only was it terrific, but the presentation was very fancy.
