Fantastic Italian food, the chefs are on point! The sauces were all extremely delicious, they serve garlic butter knots as apps, and if you go TO the bar, you get the drink you ask for. My waitress told me "we don't have skinny margaritas, only frozen." That's funny, I saw tequila bottles on the shelf, so I asked if they had agave and lime juice and she said no. The service was very very very bad not because their bad at their job, well maybe but because they rush you for no reason. I went there on a date with my boyfriend, and since we had not seen each other in a while we thought lunch would be a good opportunity to catch up, but we were interrupted múltiple times and rushed out of our minds we were not even 10 minutes in when the check and to-go boxes were brought without request. No food is worth it if the environment reeks of unprofessional and unwelcoming. Also the server would tower over us as if looking on our phones as well taking almost full drinks away to offer refills. Refills are amazing but not when you're trying to enjoy and savor a drink, especially when you just got it, the drinks were 97.7% ice and not the good kind?!? Went to Luigi's following a college football game at Texas A&M Commerce. The restaurant is conveniently located across the street from the stadium and it was the only restaurant open in town after 10 PM. I enjoyed the chicken piccata and a huge slice of sausage pizza. The bread pudding with rum sauce was really good. The portions are big here but they have amazing prices even being cheaper than going to fast food restaurant. The staff was very friendly and it felt like a family owned restaurant. The service was fast so no long waits for the food. If they had better lighting out front and maybe didn't look closed this place would be packed on the weekends because they do have a full bar section with TVs showing all the games. My family and I came after my Graduation at TAMUC, we drove in from San Antonio for my Masters Graduation ceremony and had not eaten all day. I was feeling a little awkward, because I walked into the restaurant using my graduation gown. It was cold and rainy outside and I didn't have my jacket with me and did not want to get my regular clothes wet. We were greeted and seated fairly quickly, which at first was a very nice surprise. We came right after the ceremony and thought that the place would be getting packed soon. my server congratulated me and asked about our order. As she came up to take our order, I asked about the size of the soup and was told that it was "expensive." I smiled it off, and replied "How expensive?" after she told me the price, I said "Oh ok, that is a bowl correct?" And she said "yes," my reply was "ok, is it alright if we continue to look at the menu while we decide? We will be ready in a bit when my husband returns." When my husband returned from washing his hands, we ordered our food. We went ahead and ordered the minestrone soup along with appetizers and main course. When our food was bought out, I'll give them that it was very hot and seemed to be freshly prepared, the presentation was ok, but it did lack in flavor, it was bland. Aside from the food, something that definitely stood out, more than the food was the service. No one returned to check to see if we needed anything. I asked a waiter passing by if he could please bring me some parmesan cheese, he said he would but never returned. We then asked an older gentleman that worked there if we could please get a refill on a tea and he said in a very rushed and bothered tone. "No, we are out, ok!" I said " No, it's not okay." He quickly changed his demeanor and said "sorry about that. We just don't have anymore tea." then I asked "may we please have some some water?" It was then that I believe that he noticed that all of our glasses were empty. He brought us one glass of water, left us and no one came by our table until it was time to pay for our meal. We were there for almost two hours due to the lack of service and still left a 20% tip. I don't want to read into the climate of the restaurant, but it was not very welcoming. It was obvious that we were being avoided, because the handful of other customers that were eating there were being attended to promptly, I'm talking about within minutes. But when we raise our hand, or tried to get someone's attention we were outright ignored. If you decide to visit this restaurant, please bring your own seasoning. I am being very generous with providing three stars. We were patient and still stayed to eat there because we were hungry. The odds of our ever returning are zero. Being that this is out first and last visit, I hope that all the people we encountered were only having a bad night and wish the restaurant well. read more

I work at TAMUC, and anyone who has been to Commerce knows that the dining options are limited. Luigi's is one of the places that I regularly visit, as it is right across the highway from my building, and it isn't a total dive, like most of the restaurants in Commerce. While I've always had fine experiences at Luigi's, I also can't say it's the most amazing fine-dining restaurant I've visited. It's very good for what it is: everyday Italian food in east Texas. The restaurant owner is great, a very friendly guy. I must admit that several of the waitstaff are very awkward. I've tried several things on the menu, but my go-to is the margherita flat bread. It's always the same and tastes very good. I usually get a glass of the "house cab," which I've learned is actually from a box (it's Franzia), but the price is right ($4.75 a glass). Sometimes I mix it up and get the baked ziti, which is also tasty. Like I said, I visit Luigi's a lot, and it's fine! One of the better places to eat in Commerce. read more

Great little Italian restaurant. We love coming here after church. Their (free) bread knots are perfect, but be careful not to fill up on them before your food arrives. The boys split a pizza & I get the Philly Cheese Steak. There is so much food! We have to take a box. They boast to have the "best bread pudding on the planet." It is very good, but don't know I would call it the best I have ever had. The price is reasonable. Three of us ate for $40, including ordering a dessert, which we split because there was so much. It was the most TASTELESS - SOGGY - CHEESE casserole texture I've ever had in my life. It was not a good reflection of a restaurant that has quality control. Did not not say anything to management bc I know they'd most likely just say I was a turd. This mushy gooey eggplant with NOT real mozzarella was awful. I can't believe that a 5th couldn't make the same dish ! The sauce was tomatoe with perhaps a dash of oregano- maybe not. I had this and a corona w side salad. $20. I left a $4 tip bc it's not the waiter responsibility to cook. Service was ok - NOT overly friendly - not overly bad - just NOT NOT worth the 20% tip I gave. Sometimes context is everything. Such is the case with Luigis which is located in Commerce, TX. Commerce, you see, is a Sonic and Dairy Queen kind of town. So, when a restaurant like Luigis comes to town, builds a brand new building and offers pretty darn good Italian food -- well, people take notice. Luigis stands out. Not just for its big city appearance but also for its cuisine. So, what about the food? I had the Chicken Arrabriatta which was hot spicy and good. But what I enjoyed the most was the homemade rolls with garlic olive oil dipping sauce. Yowee! I couldn't get enough, to the bane of my dear wife. I ordered the chicken capelini and was very happy with the variety of veggies in the dish! It was delicious and more food than I could finish. Others with me ordered other entrees and everything looked great. The garlic bread knots are SO GOOD! The staff was nice enough to modify some of the dishes for those with dietary needs and did not put up a fuss. There is also a large party room in the back that can be rented. Had a craving for Lasagna and excited to try a new place to eat Italian food. I have visited Lugi's twice with my husband and again with my daughter. I believe both times were on early Saturday afternoon and it was quite with a few customers. First time I came for the lasagna. We were seated quickly and ordered beverages. Garlic knotted bread was brought out. Fresh and delicious. With my daughter we ordered garlic and olive oil dip. OMG! It was filled with fresh garlic, parmesan, and Italian seasonings along with fresh basil leaves. We had plenty left over to take home and put in a jar. Next, they brought out our salads which had a lovely house dressing. For the entree, my first visit I ordered lasagna(lunch portion) and second visit we both ordered Chicken Parmigiana. Sauce was hearty, chicken tender and noodles were cooked perfectly! Generous sized portions made for delicious leftovers. My daughter ordered a delicious buzzed filled Peach Bellini for happy hour. Service was attentive on the first visit, also manager stopped by table. The 2nd visit waitress was okay but not so attentive on refills but still handle her duties. The food was mediocre, as noted. The chicken had a rubbery texture and I immediately spit it out. My wife had the same response. The pasta sampler was OK, but sauce was bland. Hands down Luigi's will provide you with the best dining experience in Commerce, Texas. The food is good and service always friendly. It is possibly the best italian food you will find in the Northeast Texas region. In terms of the quality of the food provided I will rate it fair. Some dishes, particular the chicken Alfredo, appeared watered down. I am used to my sauce being on the thick side. This is a matter of preference so I will not discredit them within this regard. The garlic bread is awesome! The only downside I have found is that the restaurant is a bit on the chilly side. On all occasions that I have been there, it has been extremely cold. It would help if patrons hand a comfortable temperature in order to have a more rewarding experience. Beyond its minor flaws, I recommend Luigi's. read more

Absolutely DISGUSTING and UNSANITARY. Upon entering the building the stench of feet and fish hit my face. The bread was hard, bitter, and the soda tasted like it came from an old pipe. I got the salmon with angel hair pasta that was gross and watery. I only ate about 10 small bites of the salmon. Tasted like it was re heated in a microwave and the capers were not even edible. We also got a side of over priced marinara that was a pool of grease along with everything else. Including the spaghetti that came with a WHOLE half of sausage . Just the smell of the sauce made me gag. My "salmon" that tasted old came with the whole top half of a lemon?? My mom got a chicken dish that looked like it was canned chicken and smelled bad. The side salad was wilted, nasty, and bland. And thats not all.. there were individual TVs ON each table that had stains of food on them the wires were out and the remotes were gross. However, my wife got a pomegranate martini that tasted like it was juice only, so that was a bust. The margarita was pretty decent. I got the baked ziti but I did not see or taste any ricotta cheese in the pasta. It was just penne pasta in marinara with some cheese.
