Welcome to Tex-Mex

Let me start by saying if you are within 10, 15, or 25 miles of Cooper then Tejano's is a must for a stop. We passed by it last night on the way back to Cooper Lake SP and saw it was packed, with parking in front and around most of the town square full. That was a pretty good indicator of this was the place to check out. Sitting on the town square, yes town square it is hard to miss plus with all the beauty of town square is a plus. The city is such a throw back to a simpler time and way of life. Well from the time we walked and the door and greeted by staff and the aroma of the food we knew this was going to be a great choice. After being seated and promptly taking our drink orders, waters all around plus 2 margarita's on the rocks and diet coke for the daughter we promptly ordered the first thing that caught our attention, a bowl of their chorizo-queso served with warm flour tortillas. This could be a meal all on its own it was so good, creamy, cheesey golden goodness. Plus provided chips and salsa, chips were warm and not like the normal heavy corn tortilla chips these were light, fresh and not greasy. The salsa was a little on the runny side but had good flavor. My daughter ordered the kids cheese enchilada as she wanted the fries so she could dip them in cheese sauce, plus an extra enchilada as she is a growing tween. When the waiter arrived with our orders fresh and HOT as he put them down in from of us he re-iterated please be careful "plates & food" are hot. But what does the daughter do, cut right into the HOT CHEESY enchilada so you can guess what happens next. She does the whole open mouth tongue dance so she doesn't scald the roof of her mouth. Wife and I just giggled and asked her "did you not just hear the man say be careful food is HOT"...that was good for a laugh. Wife ordered the Jalesco (chicken & beef) enchilada covered with sour-cream sauce or chili con carne partnered with lots of rice. It looked amazing and smelled even better. The flavors were really good and my wife made herself miserable attempting to eat it all but alas she could not. The only draw back was she said it needed a little more salt/pepper which is pretty good call out by her as she is not a heavy salt eater but she said the overall flavors were good. I ordered the Tito Special, if for no other reason this is worth the trip, 2 fajita enchilada's covered in spicy queso topped with sauteed onions, this was FABULOUS. The spice of the queso was not over the top but just the right amount of catch the back of your throat burn. Plus the fajita meat is cut into little bite size pieces so cutting the enchilada's is easy. The meat is tender and juicy with good flavor. Had it not been for the spicy queso my dish could have probably used a little more salt as well but I decided to pass. The waiter did a great job in keeping our water glasses full and I think my daughter went through at least 2.5 glasses of diet coke so that was a big plus. At the end of our meal we were planning to watch the Cooper Rodeo Parade so the next big bonus was they had margarita's TO-GO talk about a WIN!! The other honorable mention is the bathroom, talk about a clean restroom it was a pleasant surprise. I am not saying all restaurants have issues with keeping them clean but you can tell here they definitely make it a point to keep clean and it shows and is appreciated. Especially if you have a wife like mine that has aversion to going anywhere except the house this was welcome surprise so had to get mentioned. We have some friends meeting us here at the park so we will be going back this weekend to share with them.

Went for a day trip to Doctor's Creek, Cooper Lake and decided to try Tejano's for an early dinner. Nice, clean place. The stafff was super sweet. Ordered a number of dishes and none of them disappointed. Must try if you are in the Cooper area.

Oh how we wish that there could be more than 5 stars to give this A++ Mexican Grill!!! Do you know how rare it is to find a Mexican restaurant that can dull out outstanding let alone a good Chile Relleno!! The answer is very few and very far in between. But I'm getting ahead of myself, so let's start with the service! Firstly, the entirety of the staff is beyond exceptional! My mother and law had the shrimp with rice and beans, my lovely wife had the Flautas. The chips were perfect, I would change the salsa take it a bit more chunky and the flavor was amazing, but a very minor detail that is exhausted when it comes to everything else! The food, not only well placed and prepared with care! The flavors send an uppercut of delicious flavors to your palette! We have found our forever Mexican food fix with this place, and we will always show them love for the outstanding experience we had! A well oiled and maintained machine of a restaurant with, the best food to offer! Well done ladies and gentlemen!

Tejanos food and service is outstanding

This is a one stop shop for anyone who wants to experience shopping at an authentic Latino grocery…read more We love their little restaurant on the corner of the store where you can eat in or have food to go of authentic Mexican food. I love their street tacos carne asada, it's like eating from a taco truck in Guadalajara, Mexico. You can pair your tacos with their Mexican soft drinks literally in a glass bottle. You can have horchata or hibiscus tea. The breads? Freshly baked bread which is just .99 cents each. What more can you ask for? They have tres leches slices , flans.... All the postres you see in a carneceria! Their produce are always fresh , the meats I'm not a fan of but all the grocery items that you need and want are available. They even have some merchandise that you can only find there like authentic tortillas warmers, clay pots and plates. Ooohhhh, not to mention their Salvadoriqn Chorizos. I love that! Not to mention their freshly made tortillas which you can purchase at any given time! I also have tried their tamales , they are good and seasoned well. I normally make tamales twice a year but if I crave for some, I just go there to satisfy my cravings. The staff are all nice and accommodating, the whole store is clean and the prices of what they sell are affordable and comparable to other places. We definitely love this place! Nothing beats authentic Mexican grocery like La Victoria's

We have been enjoying this New find in Commerce for about Six months. It's absolutely fantastic…read more I always get the Street tacos. And they are always consistently delicious with a decent amount of meat. Expensive for Street Tacos. But delicious. Because of my many experience being consistent. I decided to use this restaurant to place my catering order for our families Christmas Dinner. I Totally understand it's a small business and didn't care about the pricing because my experience had been it was fair based on quality and quantity. I also understand catering is NOT a specialty. Pricing is per meal as if you were ordering dinner from the menu. I as I've stated I expected the $420 for 100 Taco's Beans and Rice and four Large White Queso's. I have ZERO complaints about the quality as always it's fabulous and that is why I gave five 's. The Quantity of main Ingredients (meat) for the Street Tacos is where I was disappointed. I ordered twenty five, four taco plates. Totaling 100 tacos. It was so disappointing to see that there was hardly any Chicken or Steak on so many of the taco's that my family made nagative comment's comments. Shocked at how much I had paid. It basically was four tacos with the equivalent of two taco worth of meat if that. I had also ordered four large white queso's. When I picked up the order there were so many White Styrofoam cups filled with salsa I didn't know what was what at the time. The cups were equivalent to a small soft drink cup. in my mind that was my mistake, I should've confirmed the sizes of what a Large Queso to go looked like. Nonetheless my purpose of this review is for future reference for anyone who orders catering, be aware that the food is absolutely worth the price. The disappointment was finding that out of four tacos per person. The meat equivalent was two tacos, so there were a lot of taco shells, but not a lot of meat and the queso size is not a large cup of queso it's what they're large size "bowl" is at the restaurant poured into a cup. So just be aware of those things maybe in time as the restaurant does more catering. These things will adjust themselves?? The Amount of Salsa and Chips with Onions and Cilantro was excessive. Compared to the most important things. The actual meal. I had told my sister NOT to order any other food from the Mexican Restaurant she normally goes to because I felt like I had ordered plenty. I was wrong. This definitely wouldn't stop me from eating here again, it would definitely keep me from placing a large catering order. Hopefully this will change by Next Christmas? It's our yearly Christmas dinner.

Food is always so good when we come. I will say it's better in person. The setting is real nice and…read morecomfy.
