Drew and his team finished within our tight time frame, despite the fact that we added an exterior project partway through the renovation. Drew's process worked well for us - a few initial walk-throughs, then he brought in his designer to hear our needs and ideas, and she drew up floor plans while Drew created the detailed budget estimate. We sourced many things ourselves (light fixtures, vanities, tile, etc), and Drew was flexible and helpful during that process. Project manager Lisa is a dream to work with throughout the nitty-gritty parts of a renovation - great at keeping the crew and subcontractors on schedule, and readily responsive to all our texts and emails with questions or minor changes to the plan. Lead carpenter Mike and the rest of the crew were excellent, and had the carpentry skills to do several custom projects as part of the reno that give our home a craftsman feel, including adding built-ins in the closets, making a door for a unique linen closet, an old-fashioned transom window in the bathroom, and a beautiful solid wood shelf in our mudroom. Work started and the crew made good progress quickly, but then things slowed to a crawl. Work took twice as long as promised in the contract. There were days on end that no one showed up to do work. Planning with the painters was disorganized; the trim was never painted. The sub-contractors used for plumbing and flooring were unprofessional and offered sub-par work. The electricians were wonderful - punctual, fast, quality. A. A. Smith claims to offer a year warranty but the owner will not honor it. After a few months, a toilet began leaking which caused damage to the ceiling in the basement. Certified plumber came out and discovered the toilet had been installed (by AA Smith) incorrectly, thus resulting in the leak/damage. A. A. Smith owner refused to cover the cost of having the toilet correctly installed, and refused to cover the damage. We gave the owner every opportunity to make the situation right, however he began ducking calls, voicemails, emails. Owner did a good job making us believe in his thoroughness in the beginning, but the professionalism ended there -he's a salesman. Recommend going elsewhere if you desire honesty and quality.
