I have now had Ms Fixit out to my property twice to replace rotted wood around my back door and downspouts. Both times they were able to come out within the week to give me an estimate and do the work. Their technicians are respectful of my property, friendly and highly skilled. This review is specifically about Reuben (I will have another update about other work - also good - but this review couldn't wait!). To support the carpet install I had a couple repairs / patches needed. My second floor landing bull nose was broken (to be wrapped by carpet) and I was concerned about falling down the stairs. When Reuben arrived to fix it he assessed the situation and let me know he needed to get a different piece and headed to the store - it didn't matter how late it was on a Friday he was going to do it right. When he returned I ask him about the repair. With his kindness and knowledge he explained to me why it was currently wrong and how he was going to properly secure it as well as the strength of the fasteners he was using. He really went above and beyond explaining it. After a recent bad fall, I felt completely confident in safety and Reuben is a GEM. He also installed a bathroom threshold (that looks fabulous) and he made sure to tell me I needed inform the carpet installers to not put any weight on it for the mortar to fully set as they would be arriving in morning. TLDR; Handyman seemed good, but I never got to hire him due to terrible office experience. --- One on hand, I had a list of handyman items. I reached out to Ms. Fixit in the morning, and someone was at my house to quote the work by lunch. He was nice, professional, clearly knowledgeable, and he took the time to walk through each item with me and answer any questions I had. On the other hand... everything else. First, the estimate was done on Tuesday. I didn't get a quote until the next Monday. A bit slow. I had other companies get back to me within 24 hours. I replied the next day with some scope changes and questions. I didn't receive a reply by the end of the week and followed up. I finally got a call back on Monday and an updated proposal on Tuesday. The proposal didn't address several of my questions from the past week. For instance, I wanted to confirm which bathroom exhaust fans to buy and I wanted a quote for a step to be reinforced. I let it slide... easier than waiting another week. The quoted amount on the revised proposal seemed quite low. I asked if there had been a mistake, mentioning the new total in my email. They confirmed that the amount was correct, so I signed and sent the contract. Later that day, they called, left a voicemail, and sent an email saying they'd made a 'math error' and would send a new quote. It was for more than *4x* the amount we'd signed on. I replied that I was unhappy with this. I thought we had an agreement, but even setting that aside, the new quote seemed high to me, given the added work. I asked for an explanation for the higher price. So what do you do when you're a company and you make an error on a signed contract? I think it would be best to honor the contract. However, I recognize that isn't always possible, so in that case, you profusely apologize, offer a 10% discount, and we all move on. What you don't do is say you'll "pass" on the project, rather than answer any questions about your pricing. And then essentially accuse me of lying, saying you never received the signed contract. And then double down when I send you the document and a screenshot of it the email it was attached to. Overall, this turned into a 2+ week headache that resulted in no work being done. read more

Great team of carpenters! Took care of the rotting posts on my front and back porches and listened to my concerns up front which ensured the work was completed to my satisfaction. As with a lot of repair projects they identified some additional issues as the work progressed and were clear about what should be done and the additional costs to resolve those as well which I thought was very reasonable. The final result was even better than the original. Price was a bit more than other quotes but I think this team was well worth it due to the quality of workmanship.
