This coffee shop was quite the surprise. It is located near downtown Monroe in a restored antique store but converted into what looks like an old gat station. Genius! The menu offers quite a bit of options of coffee drinks, teas, food and even ice cream. MY wife and I went just for coffee, and it was delicious. By the way, it's imported Colombian coffee, and it was great! Staff was friendly and helpful. We were helped by the owners themselves, and they always had a smile, repeated our order back to us, got our order quickly, and checked on us if things were OK. The common areas and restroom were clean and comfortable, and the y did a terrific job with the looks of it. It has its own free parking lot but with limited spots. Overall, 100% recommended and can't wait to return to ty the food menu. read more

The theme of High Octane is so cute! The dinosaurs and the vintage gas station/car repair vibe is truly one of a kind. I didn't try any of the food this time around but my friend and I ordered their chocolate strawberry iced lattes and they were delicious! We are the kind of people who love a sweet and flavorful latte so this was perfect for us. It wasn't watery or dull in flavor in the slightest and it tasted exactly as described on the menu. read more

I love a quirky eatery and a coffee house that was a former gas station definitely fits the bill! The dinosaur in between the gas pumps out front makes it that much better! They serve coffee, ice cream and sandwiches. They frequently offer specialty coffee drinks that are a little fancier and with fun toppings based on whatever holiday or season is current. I definitely enjoyed my coffee that was topped with mini marshmallows. Bonus points that they have a band play music on the back patio from time to time - I've personally seen them playing twice! read more

I ordered through Door Dash and my dasher grabbed the wrong order and delivered it to me. (Just coffee no food) I am 8 months pregnant so hunger was kicking in but they had someone who worked from the store deliver it to me. Not even a dasher. Very nice guy I really appreciated that they did this. Wish I could have tipped him! But I highly recommend this place. They made everything right and I very much appreciate it. Food is delicious! I got a ham egg and cheese on a croissant with mayo and it did not disappoint! read more

Way overpriced, if you're looking for a good latte I wouldn't suggest. The food is alright but be prepared to pay a lot.

Ok, finally made it back here, and it's fantastic! The menu has grown substantially, and service is much better. They have added tables, so more seating inside. They were incredibly busy the day we went, but service was smooth. It does take a bit to get your oder, but since everything is made when you order, this is expected. We will definitely be back, am just sorry it took us so long to get back over and enjoy! read more

My wife and I like boutique coffee joints, but we have had issues finding one in Union County we like until now! Coffee: This is about the coffee for us and it's really good! It's smooth and tasty. I don't usually like my coffee bitter, so the white mocha is perfect for me. They can make it extra sweet but it was a bit too sweet. Chai: Any time my wife talks about chai, she is comparing it to her favorite chai from college. She compared it to that chai! I even liked it and I don't like chai! Food: My wife I have tried the breakfast sandwiches only, and they were pretty good. I had a bacon, egg, and cheese on sourdough. She had a turkey, egg, and cheese on GLUTEN FREE BREAD! I don't know if they use separate grills, so there might be cross contamination, but my wife had no issues with it. Atmosphere: The location in a restored gas station is genius! The soft chairs right in the entrance are perfect and there is outside seating when the weather is good. This place is popular, so do be prepared for a possible long wait if you go in during peak hours Staff: They are fairly friendly. They normally have a smile, repeat your order back to you, get your order to you quickly, and check on you if things are taking too long. They consistently stay open and make quality drinks and food. This is the best coffee in Union County and the best chai in the South! read more

First time here and I'm in love! Service was warm and friendly, loved the vibe inside, and much more seating than I thought! They offer fresh pastries and baked goods, their breads are from a local bakery and they also have gluten free bread and waffles! The food menu includes smoothies, breakfast sandwiches and all kinds of waffles, plus sandwiches for lunch and more! They even have a case with several ice cream flavors. If you have not stopped in, you need to. My latte was delicious (salted caramel white mocha) and I can't wait to try the food next time. Also, they have great hours and are open til 8pm which is rare! read more

High Octane Coffee Creamery & Eatery - Nutella Waffle - Coffee & Tea Near Me - Monroe, North Carolina

Have you tried the sandwiches at Monroe's newest coffee shop? Order one hot off the panini press and especially for breakfast. Except for East Frank's there isn't another coffee shop in Monroe offering hot, made to order sandwiches--none that I know. They're huge. A great deal. Ya gotta try one! Oscar and his wife set up shop in April 2023 inside the restored Sinclair Gas Station to offer coffee shipped from the mountains of Columbia to our small town. And I like it. They make an exceptional cortado, too--just ask for it. And not just coffee. Hand-scooped ice cream, fresh pastries, and even a couple waffle irons to round out the day beside the paninis. Mmmm. With Alice Jules, Dandelion & Friends along with East Frank's nearby, there is a buzz in the air near Main Street filled with choices. What's not to like? Got a need for a jolt of Joe? Has the percolator screaming on my "Give 'em a whirl" meter. Go here. Pro tip: High Octane continues to iron some wrinkles which anyone who has opened a business knows takes time. Be a little patient--worth the wait. read more

Been here more than once and love the look of this place outside and inside. It can be a great hangout spot and they have great parking lot space as well. Their waffles are such nice treats that I always order when I go here. I've tried their tiramisu from the dessert display and to me it seemed overpriced for the amount that I got. I once had come on a day they were celebrating their anniversary and were giving customers free cake slices which was nice and sometimes a food truck can be found outside which I think is such a good way for a business to support other businesses! read more

Recently found this little place. BEST iced chai latte in NC I have had. I get it with almond milk and cinnamon on top. I've lived in Monroe for a few years and been looking for a chai like this. Also, I have tried their fruit bowls and the breakfast sandwich with gluten free bread. Everything has tasted great! Also pictured is a breakfast sandwich with regular bread. Really cute place. Went recently on a Saturday and the place was packed, inside and outside seating If you want breaks, they have a limited but nice menu of breakfast sandwiches, wafflesMy waffle , and acia bowls. There is also a delicious lunch sandwich menu. My waffle was quite good. Service is very polite and our order was brought out to us without much of a wait. The only thing I did not like was the use of tiny little plastic forks and knives The coffee is good, with many options for specialty drinks. The space is cute: inside an old gas station. This funky little oasis in Monroe is a real find. Everything about this place is very well done. From the sandwiches to the amazing waffles with signature selections and build your way options and to finish it off great milkshakes. This place is repurposed from a gas station and retains its front street curb appeal. The staff here are extremely friendly and always attentive to their customers in making sure that they are providing the best quality food and service possible. It's family owned and they are a breath of fresh air when you are looking for something other than a corporate food option. It's located in the older portion of the city but it's well worth the journey. I would highly recommend giving it a go... it will soon become your new favorite destination. read more

We couldn't wait to try this place. We finally did. The coffee was delicious but, the breakfast sandwich wasn't. They use frozen egg patties and that was a big no for me! My husband waited over 20 mins for his sandwich and it wasn't that busy. I had the apple turnover. It tasted stale and barely had any apple in it. We will most likely not be back. Too many places to try. read more

Eh, I wanted to love this but just wasn't impressed. The sandwiches are okay-but nothing to write home about. The cook/owner was pushy with recs when we were and I didn't like that. I'm willing to give it another shot- but am not expecting much! read more

This is my new favorite spot! I came here with both of my kiddos and they loved the chocolate sprinkled doughnuts. One of my kiddos got a chocolate milkshake and it was delicious and very chocolatey. My other kiddo got a cotton candy ice cream with sprinkles and it was also very yummy. For myself I got a iced caramel latte and turkey, provolone, and swiss sandwich and it was yummy! It came with a little side salad and I ate it up the sauce on the salad was so good. The customer service here was excellent! The staff was very kind and attentive to the customers. They did rounds to make sure customers were okay with their meals and had napkins. The ambiance was very welcoming and chill. I rate this place a 11/10! I will definitely be back. This is my new weekend stop! I wish I would've taken pictures of the food and drinks but we were starving. read more

I came here early in the morning it definitely was not super busy. So the whole "it's busy" thing can sit down. I sat here for close to 15-20min for a coffee. A regular normal latte nothing fancy. The lady making the coffees and as more concerned chatting about the customers who left because they got sick of waiting. I paid 5.25 for half the size of coffee I would pay at another place like Alice and Jules. I do not think I'll come back. It just gave off weird vibes. No one was warm and welcoming it felt cold and lonely in there. And the coffee was meh not made with love. read more

Had a Havana sandwich & a waffle! Omg they were both amazing. Take it from someone that's been to Belgium & had their waffles & lived in Miami with Cuban sandwiches. The taste was superb. I cannot wait to go back to try their coffees and ice cream. The service was great, they stop by our table to make sure we received everything. The ambiance was all that I could ask for in a shop like that, the decor and design is aesthetically pleasing! Will be back & I'll be bringing friends :) read more

Me and my husband got a cappuccino and a cold brew which were both great and the Nutella waffle was exceptionally delicious and aesthetically pleasing to the eye! We took home some coffee beans and Oscar even sent us home with a small sample of the honey coffee beans they have! Overall pleased with the experience and will definitely be back again! Great food, drinks, and ice cream. Plus, colombian coffee. Love the aesthetic of it as well. Very homey and the workers were kind.

this place isn't worth your time. The owners are horrible towards their staff and the customers. they were constantly getting onto the staff over everything, and very rude towards customers as they were at the register trying to order. the coffee is okay, and the food is decent. isn't worth the price you spend. the staff if very nice, and did their job well. could've used a more encouraging manager. As I sat there trying to enjoy my meal, I couldn't help but feel disappointed and disheartened. It was clear that the owners didn't care about their customers' experiences or the quality of their food. It was all about making money and treating their staff poorly in the process. In the end, I would not recommend this cafe to anyone. If you want to have a pleasant dining experience with good food, look elsewhere. This place is a complete waste of time and money. Save yourself the trouble and find another restaurant that cares about its customers and its staff. read more
