This is my favorite go-to spot for good beer when I'm visiting my mom and sister in Fort Collins. Beer: My favorite. Do yourself a favor, and get a growler. I always get the Noble One. Be careful. It's 10.5 abv and doesn't taste like it. Ambiance: Don't let this place fool you. It half garden shop/half brewery. Park and walk around to the west side of the building. That's where the taps are. You can sit outside when it's nice. Or when it's cold, they often have live bands at night in a covered area, so you're still warm. They have some food vendors. I've seen a wood oven pizza vendor there and then some guys with large vats of mac and cheese and other foods inside. But I've always filled up on beer. The music has always been great, too. Service: The people here are really friendly. I go back every time I'm in town. Love it here. read more

What a simple surprise, this place stands out with all the new micro breweries popping up in the past year. A brewery and garden center all in one... Nothing real elaborate, just a small brewery in the middle of a garden and hop field with a nice western view off the patio. The beers were all very good and fresh. A small food cart was available for the hungry. The tacos looked and smelled great. We will definitely be back for a sunset visit and garden supplies. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY- We were so excited to try this place because of the plants and the beer, as soon as we walked in they told us they wouldn't seat or serve us because of the "21+" rule. I was holding my 5mo old baby. Literally the only place in Northern Colorado with this rule, we asked why and they said "safety." Upon reading other reviews the previous excuse was COVID. It's a garden center. No, it's a brewery...it's a garden center...wait! It's both! This is the most eclectic brewery I've ever visited. The tasting room literally shares indoor space with a garden center. Kinda makes sense, since hops are an attractive plant... High Hops has put some thought into their setup: they offer a series of flights at different prices. The Flagship Flight gives you five generous samples from light to dark for $9.50. For those that prefer options, you can do a pick-n-choose for $13. There are six or so tables indoors at the bar, but they've created a really good outdoor seating area - some tables are covered, some are open...there's a covered stage for live music and even a few outdoor games. Along the outdoor seating area is the field where they grow their hops. Their beers are an interesting mix - The Golden One: a lemon ale that's so light it's barely there. The Witty One: an american wheat beer. I'm not big on wheats but hubby enjoyed it. The Honey One: an american red with a touch of sweetness - this was my second fav The Power of Zeus: an american pale ale, very hoppy and malty. Big fan of this one! The Dark One: a milk stout. Try as I might, I just can't learn to love a milk stout... We spent an enjoyable couple of hours here then browsed the garden center on our way back to the car. I wanted to like them, I really did. Looks like a great outdoor space with a stage. Unfortunately, "all people" are not allowed, unless you are the 21+ adult or the furry kind. I understand a business can make their own rules, but if you are planning a trip with the family including kids who enjoy music and the outdoors - this is not the place for you. A very capable brewery. Nice atmosphere - interesting combination of a nursery/garden center with a brewery. Beers were very good, and reasonable on price - all except the custom flight: it was spendy enough I declined. Otherwise, I would have liked to try a flight. Still - bought a growler and a six-pack to take home after. Also, had the dog with me, but I kept him on the patio, and no one bothered us about him. In fact, someone nicely brought him a bowl of water. Will definitely be back here for more beer in the future. But I'd like to try to sync it with a food truck or other catering - the place would be a notch higher with a good food service to go with the beer. read more

We live in Fort Collins and have been to every brewery in that town. We've been putting off coming here for several months. That was a mistake. This place is amazing. By far my favorite Northern Colorado brewery. I wish I lived in Windsor now. The beer garden is huge. This brewery is excellent and has one of the more unique taprooms you'll see in the area. It's a large complex with new plans for a pretty solid addition currently in the works. The front and right of the building is a garden store, art, fountains, flowers, landscaping ect With the left half containing the taproom it has a rather large outdoor deck complete with stage that looks onto the house hop farm. This is a really neat space that also happens to brew some excellent beer, they used to sell brewing supplies as well but I think that's coming to an end. The Honeyed One, the house red ale, is one of my favorites, it has an excellent hop to malt balance and a nice sweet finish. Great beers from a small, family owned brewery. One of my favorite NoCo breweries. High Hops Brewery creates great beers, both their everyday flagship brews and Wednesday Firkin small batch specials. The staff treat you like family or old friends and the brewery has both indoor and outdoor seating and Wed thru Sat typically offers both great food truck cuisine and live music. High Hops also grows on site over 50.varieties of hops and has a home brew shop too. Visit once and you just might become a regular! read more

As part of the Loveland/Fort Collins brewery tour (not an official one), we stopped by High Hops on a gorgeous sunny Saturday afternoon. Loved the atmosphere at the brewery, it's all open air with most of the seating outdoors. It's also attached to a super cute garden shop, with all of your outdoor decorating needs! Dogs are welcome, and you get a dollar off your first beer if you bike over. One of my favorite beers this trip was The Golden One. It was light tasting, but 6.3 percent alcohol. Notes of lemon and coriander....yum! The Cookie Porter has a great milkshake mouthfeel too, but just FYI it has lactose. They also have a good selection of sours with a kettle aged blackberry and a tart cherry. Definitely will be back, there are a ton more beers to try! read more

Had a terrible experience here with my family. We brought my one year old daughter not knowing the 21+ rule, which was no big deal, we decided two of us were going to take turns checking out the gardening section with my daughter while the other two had a drink. Even after my daughter was safe with her aunt in the gardening section, a staff member confronted me about the safety of my daughter and seemed very concerned that we were drinking in the presence of a one year old. At this point we had not even ordered a beer yet. It's totally out of line and made me feel terrible as a mother to be questioned by a stranger. We were following their rule and still felt like we were in trouble. It was very uncomfortable, no one wants to feel like they are in kindergarten when visiting a brewery.We left without taking two sips of our beer and had a great time with my daughter at Peculiar Brewing down the rode. An awesome brewery within the Windsor Gardener. A nice little bar area, with a beer garden and a really cool patio with a stage and pretty view of the Rocky Mountains. Now on to the beer. Hasn't been one beer I didn't like even the hoppy ones which I usually don't like. My favorite is the Honeyed One. I gotta be careful with those lol!!! Also really into The Dark One and the Peach Laronde. Whenever I'm in the area I either fill up my growler, have a few beers or both. I usually go when it's not busy, but I would like to go and catch a live performance or one one of their firkin nights. Love this place and my favorite brewery. read more

High Hops has a great atmosphere and wonderful beer. It has a wide selection, and some very funny staff. The owners are incredibly hard working and passionate people. On top of that, there are events and classes happening there constantly and on top of that you can find great Food Trucks as well as a Garden Center and Distillery near by. Mostly though, what makes High Hops unique is the hilarious and laborious staff and refreshing beverages. read more

Windsor is a small town and having their own brewery is not the first thing that comes to my mind. However I am EXTREMELY happy to see the presence of High Hops here! High Hops is in the same space as the Windsor Gardner, Windsor's own nursery. At first thought it may seem strange having a brewery and a nursery share the same space but it works! You can go outside on High Hops' patio and take in the view of the mountains to the west. They have seating room in the taproom of course and a back area that combines with the nursery up to a point. Drinking beer here is very tranquil and relaxing! Not only does High Hops serve beer but you can also get brewing supplies to make your own beer at home! I have sampled all of their beers that they have on tap right now. Probably my favorite beers is the Witty One and the Golden One. The Witty One is their yummy wheat beer and the Golden One is a great lemon pilsner! Definitely my favs here! Coming in at third place is their blonde ale which is good too! The brewery does not serve food other than chips and salsa which is ok in my book! Everyone that works here is very friendly and makes an effort to remember you on return trips! Simply brilliant! I can almost imagine how this marriage of virtuous crafts came to be. Some green thumb with a passion for the garden had been inspired by the fermented frivolity of an equally passionate brewer. The get together and discuss the harmony shared between their respective hobbies and eventually they come to a sort of synergetic understanding that brewing and growing are not mutually exclusive. Both crafts take time and patience. They each demand a lot of care and consideration from their practitioners. With the right amount of skill and dedication, the fruits from their respective labors yield great and wonderful results. The gardener can survey a majestic landscape of their design, while the brewer can taste the bouquet of own their handiwork. At High Hops Brewery, the artistry of earth-grown goodness is on full display. The Windsor Gardener has plenty to keep those planting and potting enthusiasts busy, and the brewery provides ample reason to just relax in the garden. While their patio is overlooking a multi-trellised hop farm, they also have additional drinking areas inside. During the summer months, those hop vines are the perfect thing to help you appreciate the natural beauty of beer. Of course, the view of the Rocky Mountains also helps in setting the scene as well. Their beer variety is quite nice with 14 beers on tap. These are mostly of the American Ale variety which ranges from Pale Ales to Stouts. They have a couple Belgians, which my absolute favorite was their Belgian Quad called the Noble One. This beer had a complex flavor profile that I expect in the style. It was very rich, sweet, fruity, and strong! One would be remiss to not find room for at least one glass of this fine ale in their visit. As one comes to reach a certain level of beer appreciation that happens after a few pints, you can get adventurous and join the home brewing horde and pick up some brew-it-yourself supplies on the way out. As one that has found the hobby of a brewer to be more of a lifestyle, I think that even just a little bit of interest in the craft can help anyone think better about beer. If I could put zero stars I would. The beer is ok. Certainly not up to Odell Standards but not the worst either. What finally did it for my Wife and I was the 21+ rule. We enjoy going out and having a beer with 2 children in tow. What's funny is my Wife would tell me everyone we were there that she felt the employees were giving a stink eye towards our kids. Once I really started paying attention I saw the same thing. You will just have to take my word that my kids are very polite and stay near us at all times. It never made any sense. Now it does. I k ow I haven't been to every brewery around but I've been to a lot and this is the ONLY one with this rule. Not sure what the problem is. I guess they have their reasons but no longer will my family nor any close friend will be back there. Ever. read more

My wife and I recently moved to Rochester, Mn. To say that we will miss High Hops is a MASSIVE understatement. BY FAR the best craft beer we enjoyed in Northern Colorado. We took a case of the Blueberry Wheat with us. Needless to say we will be drinking it sparingly so it lasts! Really, all of thier beers are great. Dont ever change! We drove out here on a Sunday afternoon to have a beer and they wouldn't let us in because my son was under 21 due to the "corona virus pandemic" ah okay because we just left mash lab and there was no age restriction there nor has any other place implemented that and we have been to countless other breweries and never had this issue... so if your younger than 21 you have corona? I will never return to this place nor will I support their beer in the stores. Place is a joke. Gotta say I really love this place. I live on the South Side of FOCO so I am not able to hit the New Belgium's, Odell's, etc.. as often as I'd like. So, when High Hops opened I thought I'd give it a shot. Good service, good beer, and live music on a regular basis. This is one of my new go-to spots when looking for a place to relax and get my brew on. Tip: The bar area is extremely small but there is plenty of seating just past the restrooms on the nursery side. I stumbled upon this after standing with my beer for 15 minutes. If you want a punch card, it is not one in the traditional sense (order so many an get a free beer). You prepay for the card which is cheaper than buying the beer individually. $20 card gets you five pints. Also, they have a food cart if you'd like to order some grub but don't mind if you bring your own in. Overall a great little find in Windsor. read more

They have live music, and great outside seating area. They have a big selection of beers that can fit all different tastes. I believe there is a hops garden next door but not 100% sure has nothing was growing when i went. On a recent brew tour up in the Loveland area I was able to make a stop into Windsor and enjoy me some High Hops Brewery. Color me impressed! This little brewery has a lot to offer with its 14 beers on tap and a pretty sweet little patio looking out onto the mountains. Luckily the day I was there we had two of us to work our way through the sampler as it would be a lot to handle for one especially on a multibrewery tour. For the most part all the beers were tasty a couple outliers were not quite my cup of tea, but nonetheless still pretty good. Brought home a growler, caught a little buzz and picked up a wind chime at the attached garden center. Sounds pretty good to me. It's right off the highway so don't be afraid to try them out... you'll like it! read more

Today, my infant son (10 months old) and I met up with my husband and friends who were at High Hops. We were sitting outside, my son in my lap, not making a fuss, when and employee informed us that my son was not allowed to be there if we were sitting outside, but we could go inside and walk around - he just could not be at the table, as he is under 21. At first, I thought that the smug employee was joking, but he was serious. I've literally never heard of a more ridiculous rule. For a brewery, that's attached to a greenhouse, located in an area predominantly populated by families, alienating most of it's patronage by not allowing children to even be on the premise outside, sitting quietly at a picnic table, but can be inside, is absurd on its face. I've never encountered another brewery with this outlandish "policy" and we will never be coming back, and we will be telling our friends to give their money to another local brewery. read more

The name High Hops sounds like it implies that they're purveyors of other adult consumables too. Their logo even looks like a psychadelic sun rising over what looks to be a pot leaf,but is really a hop leaf. Their beers are hit or miss, but when they hit, they can reach the upper deck. I recently had their Sweetie Pie, a wee heavy scotch ale brewed with sweet potatoes and spices. I usually don't like spiced beers, but this was absolutely perfect. The sweet potatoes really added a lot of body and depth and the spices just finished it off perfectly. The booze content is what you'd expect from a winter beer. It left a nice and toasty feeling. A recent strike-out was the wheat beer aged in tequila barrels. It was flat and the added dimension of the tequila barrel flavor just wasn't enough and didn't compliment the style. Can't win 'em all. Just to name a few more winners though, Noble One and its fruity sister Chernobly are great representations of American-brewed quads. If you want to make or even grow your own beer, the homebrew shop and garden center is right in the same building. A match made in heaven. read more

Started going there when they first opened. A cozy place to go for a good beer. We are from Greeley and enjoyed going to Windsor for a break. As they grew the family atmosphere grew with it. Young couples could bring kids and snacks. Billy was there with his tasty food, and friendship. The place was jumping each weekend. Then came the distillery, at first no problem, business was very good. Then came the "Plandemic", The owners over reacted with their "Draconian " hoops to jump thru to get a beer. Then they killed the bird that laid the golden egg by making it a 21 bar. We went there Saturday, what a shock, attendance was down 90%. Most of the seating converted to plant areas. The place was like a morgue. We will not recommend this place, nor go there again read more

High Hops is where the party is at in Windsor! Their artsy, eclectic tasting room perfectly accompanies the fabulous assortment of brews. Go to the back of the building to sip among the growing greenhouse plants and get a peak into their distillery (coming soon!) The summers are best enjoyed on the deck with amazing mountain views. As someone coming from the Bourbon capital of the world, Kentucky, they really need to stop with their bourbon or let it age a lot longer because it is pretty bad. I tell my friends "if you see something you think you might like, you probably will". My wife and I have visited over 100 different breweries in Colorado, I know that's not as many as some people but, and have never visited one quite like High Hops. Every single beer she or I have had we have thoroughly enjoyed; seriously, not even a "kind of" we have loved every one. They just have a way of making every beer taste exactly like the description. Next time I'm trying the spirit flight from the distillery that is connected to the brewery. I will come back to this place even though it is a 105 minute drive from my house. DON'T BOTHER ... if you want to enjoy a beverage with good ol fido or with your kiddos and family. Colorado is awesome because we all love supporting small businesses, but don't bother with this place. First, their brewery and distillery are separated in different areas - there is no common area. Second, they only allow dogs in the patio on the brewery side. They don't serve food so dogs should be allowed inside and on the distillery side. They denied my dog, even though he is ESA and is very well mannered. Also along these lines, my dog wanted to lay in the shade so he did and wasn't more than 6-8 feet away when I got yelled at that I need to hold his lease at all times. Look, my dog is older and wasn't running around, barking, or being obnoxious. In fact, he was drawing a crowd because how awesome he was. Lastly, our kid was sitting at a high top with us behaving very well when he was told he had to sit back several feet from the table. What the heck? This place goes on and on about their policies, no wonder why the atmosphere was stuffy. This was my first and last experience here. There are other local breweries and distilleries that welcome pets, families, and kids ... and their workers are friendly and helpful. These places will earn my business instead. read more
