Cheers to an Earl Grey Old Fashioned
    Chris C.

Fun Fact: The Heart Distillery in Windsor shares space with a craft brewery and a working green house! This may very well be the most unique distillery I've been to (and I've been to my fair share). If you have a cocktail inside, you sit in a greenhouse. The high ceilings and array of plants make you feel like you are in a tropical location. Journey out to the epic patio and you can watch a kestrel family and take in an unobstructed view of the Rockies. While there I enjoyed: * New Earl, Old Fashioned~bourbon, earl grey syrup, orange bitters, lemon twist & cherry. A flight which consisted of a bourbon cream, an orange liqueur (still green from St. Patrick's Day), straight bourbon, and a sazerac ready-made cocktail. * I'm ecstatic my recent NOCO adventure brought me to this awesome spot, and I appreciate the staff answering all of my many questions. Bonus: it is a 21+ establishment, which I appreciate greatly.

What a hidden gem. We were lucky enough to be introduced to the heart distillery from a local liquor store and Costco. Came up to Windsor and what a fun place greenhouse, beer and cocktail garden. Dog friendly patio. Of course took home some bottles and cans !!! A great destination!!!

One of the coolest distilleries I've been to. I love the atmosphere with the plants all around. The bees knees is 10/10

Really top notch cocktails with locally distilled spirits. Not into whiskey myself but I definitely enjoyed their Whiskey Sour.

We did their two separate whiskey flights and we were impressed with the quality of their rye & bourbon.

While the menu is somewhat limited, it's clear they focus on quality over quantity. Whiskey is, of course, the main attraction, but for those looking for something different, their Dry Town Gin or Vodka provide great alternatives. The prices are on the higher side, especially considering the smaller portions, but the convenience and ambiance make it worthwhile. The house salad was a standout--light, fresh, and paired perfectly with a honey vinaigrette that wasn't too heavy, making it an ideal choice for a happy hour snack. If you're looking for a cozy, somewhat upscale place to grab a drink and a bite before heading to an event, this distillery is worth checking out!

We mainly came for a drink or flight, but also added the snack mix; we had 3 bowls to share. We also were given carafes of water. We knew ahead of time that the Honey Smoked Old Fashioneds were quite good, so a few of us ordered them. We watched them being made at the bar next to us and they are able to smoke 4 at once using what looks like a cake stand with glass dome. They were indeed quite tasty. I also tasted a friend's Bourbon Margarita. I'd never heard of this cocktail but was interested. Again, tasty. A few of us purchased bottles of Old Elk to go. They gave golden elk bottle pours as a bonus (really nice).

We tried a few of them straight and they are really tasty. He has put together a fab cocktail list as well. We tried three and all were delicious. Impossible to pick a favorite. - Competition- 3 part gin, 1 part fyr, with some orange peel- this is a boozy one! I didn't expect this to taste very good given the combo, but it was excellent. - Beet down- Not sure what all went into this- gin, beet juice, maybe some lemon and tarragon? IDK, but the final product was beautiful and delicious. I wish I could recreate this at home. - Rosemary's baby greyhound- love the clever name and love this drink. Fresh grapefruit, clean vodka, rosemary, and maple syrup to sweeten just a bit. Wow. All the drinks are served on good ice- big cubes or cool spheres. Perfect place for sitting at the patio on a sunny day. Highly recommend!

With a friend in tow we strolled the Skunk Creek path - enjoying the sounds of the creek and the sereneness of the road less traveled. Although the path system is fantastic in town I don't often find myself on it (mostly for fear of pedestrians/strollers/skateboarders while riding my bike on the Boulder Creek path, but that's another story). In no time at all (ok I admit this is Sasha speak for any distance up to or around 1mile - a girl's gotta get those Fitbit steps in somehow!) we found ourselves at J&L. While approaching we could see there was a tour in the works and walked around the side of the building to the tasting room entrance. Ascending the stairs up to the tap room we noted a great outdoor space with several picnic tables outfitted with umbrellas (fantastic for those post hike libations). Inside we were delighted at the open yet cozy feel. We chose a couple of bar stools and took a load off. Nibbling on a bowl of pretzels we contemplated the creative cocktail menu. As my friend and I are both holders of the Boulder Passport http://www.boulderpassport.com) we relished in the fact that we'd be in the establishment for awhile enjoying not one but two libations; after all we had a lot of catching up to do. This was my friend's first experience with J&L and she was tickled that the bartender was happy to provide her with samples of their liquors. In the end she chose a Beet Cocktail while I went for the Palisade Peach Pie - great choices on both counts. While sipping our cocktails we noted that the tour was still in full force and we enjoyed glimpses of the group through a viewing window in the tasting room. Once the tour commenced the group found their way in to the tasting room as did the tour provider who happened to be one of the distillery founders. One of my favorite things about J&L (aside from the FYR liquor) is how approachable and open the staff are. I always find it to be a special experience when business owners take the time to not only interact but engage with their customers. I look forward to returning for a tour as well as sharing this great spot with more friends.
