Which is weird and not recommended from what I read everywhere. but I healed okay so I didn't question it. this was around 12 years ago. then about 3-4 years ago, I called and asked if I could come in to speak to someone for a consult for a tattoo, and was just told they do walk ins for that, so I did that right after. I went in and there were like 8 guys laughing at something and didn't talk to me or pay attention that I was there even though they could see me. I asked one guy, like hey how are yall doing can I discuss scheduling a consult or do one now? the guy said ok, and I showed him my design ideas and he said ok here is my number, text me and I will see if I can soon. so I call the day he said to and get ghosted. I wait a bit longer and still no answer. finally texted me like 2 weeks later and he said oh I forgot. I asked if we could schedule or see another artist, but he didn't text me after that. so yeah, it was weird. I am sure they have good people there, but since it seemed like they didn't want my money, I haven't been back. this was going to be 4 by 3 inch black line drawing. I feel like this was very simple, but I don't do tattoos, so i don't know for sure. But when I got eventually this tattoo at another studio it took about 40 minutes and that was with color and more intricate. I'm not saying they don't have good employees there, just confused by my experience.

The last time I got a tattoo was over 10 years ago. I met in person with 2 different shops and got 2 very similar quotes. The agreement I signed, put a deposit on and made an appointment for was based on a misrepresentation of services and time required. Which was 4 hours of service and hourly equivalent rate of $100/hr. I showed him 2 simple components for a commemorative tattoo to honor my recently deceased youngest son; requested a specific style - watercolor; the size and location of the tattoo. He took my deposit, made a copy of the art and said, if you don't hear from me by Monday, text me for a 1st draft. I had to text him. It was obvious in the 4 days he had not worked on a composition and I actually liked what another of my sons designed using those 2 components in the interim, which I shared with the Tattooist, allowing him to work with or improve on. In the end, he used my son's art which he had a copy of before the appointment. On the day of, he rescheduled our appointment; was not ready at that time and completed the tattoo in less than an hour. I tried to renegotiate the final cost, based on the previously stated facts. His refusal made me uncomfortable. Two weeks later, I sent him a text explaining my position and requested a refund. After he consulted with the owner of his shop, he asked if I would take another tattoo instead. (Which to me is proof I was over-charged and an admission they agreed with me.) I said no. In the end, they refused a refund.

Backstory: My daughter had gotten an industrial piercing October 2024 by another black owned/woman…read moreowned business as that artist is well known around the city - we then found out she had a severe nickel allergy & had said artist remove the piercing not even 1week later. Fast forward to our blank ink experience, we scheduled about a month out via IG DM's on their business page after specifically asking if they pierce with surgical steel (which we were told energetically "YES, that's all we use". Day of the piercing, we put the location in google maps and it takes us to their OLD location in castleton I called twice before getting them to answer the business phone and we then were instructed the location is on keystone. At my fault, I forgot to bring my daughter's birth certificate & school picture ID so we had to reschedule for the following day. Following day comes and we head to the shop and arrived early for our appt time. The piercer was getting prepped for a tattoo and continued doing so for almost a half hour before telling us to go sit in the chair. As he got prepped for her piercing I then talked about our terrible experience with the nickel jewelry & he had a shocked look on his face. I had to remind him "I'm the one that specifically asked for surgical steel" and he was like "oh wow I can't guarantee this is steel because we don't get this piercing often so we had some jewels from our previous order that were in fact nickel. We mixed them in with our new order of steel so this will be a toss up" the look on my face I'm sure said it ALL - I got it in writing that if she has an outbreak from his jewelry he would switch it out immediately free of charge for a steel rod. Thankfully, we're week 3 and still no outbreak so I guess we got lucky! Our piercer was nice & gentle buuuut the professionalism lacks a bit.

Artist unprepared and weak line work left my tattoo patchy and not what I wanted…read more I went into the shop on Friday and sent him the photo that same day so he could prepare the stencil. I came back on Sunday, and he told me he hadn't prepared it and asked me to return on Tuesday. When I came in on Tuesday, the stencil still wasn't ready, but we tattooed the parts that worked. He said he would draw the rest by hand because the stencil wasn't laying correctly on my fingers. Over the next three weeks, the original work healed, and I noticed some of the lines were faint. We scheduled another appointment to finish the fingers and fix the patchiness. When I arrived on Monday, the stencils he drew still didn't work. I ended up having him do some dots on my fingers, and I asked him to fix the line work, but I can still see faded lines. Overall: my tattoo is not horrible. I can live with the fingers not working out, I can't with the shotty line work.
