Cool sign in the lobby.

My niece recommended Austin for my nose piercing. He was cool, calm, and very professional. The room I was in was super clean, no weird smells or any unnecessary garbage. He was quick and efficient, and I'd recommend him to anyone. He is the only piercer there, and they take walk ins. He also gives you his cell number to text questions about your piercing during the healing process. That's pretty cool!!

This was my first experience getting a tattoo. I called day-of and was able to squeeze in an…read moreappointment with Diego. I had a general idea of what I was looking for and showed Diego an image that he re-designed in his own style. The result was incredible and for my first time getting a tattoo I would say this was the best way it could have gone. Diego will work with you and also give his input from an artist's point of view (especially color-wise, I was looking for something with more orange-golds and he suggested some tweaks that would make it more breathtaking). He's really communicative about what he'll be doing during the process and will check in with you to make sure you are doing alright. Care instructions were clear and when my tattoo started to weep under the second skin (it's a really good protective layer that is also often used for burn victims) - which is super common, don't be scared if this happens to you, it's often a part of the healing process - Diego gave me another one to keep it fresh and healing securely. This tattoo is so beautiful and the placement also allows me to start a really good sleeve. Overall the vibes are really good here. Expect to bring cash and some extra to tip well. I will definitely be coming back to start my sleeve! If you're considering coming here, especially for an on-a-whim moment, just do it. I recommend calling ahead. I have no regrets. 10/10

Obviously when getting a tattoo you want your artist to be an AMAZING ARTIST. That's a given…read more Conan is exactly that, and much more. He is an amazing and unique artist. Then you discover that he is also an incredibly compassionate, warm, wickedly intelligent, and sensitive human being as well. I've worked with two other tattoo artists before, and both were good artists, but super quirky, as one might expect artists to be. Conan is so personable and deeply cares about the entire experience his clients are receiving. I was referred to Conan by a good friend of mine, who had a couple of tattoos done by him over the years. I have always admired her tattoos, and since moving back to the area, I was excited to meet her artist and see what he might suggest for cleaning up two tattoos I've had done by other artists. One of my tattoos is a little dated, and I'm sensitive about it's placement and style. Not once did Conan say something negative about the pieces I have. Given his talent, he could easily be arrogant and people would forgive it because he is that good. How refreshing that he is not that way AT ALL. The studio has a very home-like vibe, with tons of all of the artists' work displayed. It is clean, inviting, and inspiring. I initially visited the studio with my husband, who was also having a previous tattoo added upon. I hadn't fully decided if or when I was going to have my tattoos worked on further. But witnessing his skill and the discussion and planning process with my husband...my mind started turning! Looking around at the art hanging everywhere (and you can find much of Voluta's artists' works on their website; Conan, Michele, and Jaydee), seeing the variety and uniqueness of each piece, combined with the comfortable and warm atmosphere...I knew I was going to approach Conan to see if he could help me love my own pieces as much as I was loving the art on his walls. After the work he did yesterday, I already do love my art, and it's not quite completed. He spent much time with me prior to beginning the inking process getting to know me, what my artistic sensibilities were, and offering ideas as he got to know what my eye was drawn to. He is a true collaborator, which is incredibly important in his line of work. For someone as talented as Conan, he could easily be cocky and make the experience all about the glorification of his own work. But as I said, Conan is far from that kind of person. If you are willing to let the work speak for itself and don't want the grandstanding that a lot of tattoo artists do to promote their work, then Conan is your guy! In both visits (the first with my husband, and the second for my tattoo session) I met Jaydee, who was working with another client, music was playing, there was lots of discussion and laughter...you truly feel like you're being welcomed into someone's home and family. You feel taken care of and respected; they are as interested in getting to know YOU as they are in putting beautiful art on your body. So if you care about the experience you are receiving, want incredible artwork on your body, and maybe walk away with some new friends...you should without a doubt go to Voluta. I can't wait to go back!

I've wanted a tattoo for a long time and finally decided to take the plunge this year. After…read moresearching through MANY Instagram portfolios of talented Indy artists, I decided Cass Wilson from Untitled Ink would be the best fit for what I wanted, and I'm so lucky to have been so very right. I had a pretty detailed and complicated vision, and she was able to produce a custom piece that was beyond my expectations. The studio is cozy and clean and close to all the best parts of Broad Ripple (so I could treat myself to a new plant at Snakeroot and a beer or three at the Alley Cat after my appointments). When the day of my appointment came, I'm not gonna lie--I was nervous. I'd chosen to go all-in with a large first piece, and I was unsure how I'd react to the new environment (though I was also really excited because of how awesome the artwork was). Cass was great at explaining the process and made me immediately feel comfortable and welcomed. She continued to be communicative and gentle throughout the process, and we took breaks as needed. (It didn't hurt nearly as much as I'd always imagined it would; though I also chose a less painful area to start with, fwiw.) All this so far would have gotten a 5-star review from me. Had that been my entire experience, I still would have been completely satisfied. However, I was also lucky enough to be there on a day when two other artists--Johnny and Micah--were in, and both of them were awesome enough to chat with me about all kinds of random things we all had in common, and it totally made the experience above and beyond. Like, these people sort of feel a wee little bit like family now, and I can't wait until I get to go back and see them and have a needle jabbed into me for many, many more hours. I couldn't give any business I've ever been to a higher recommendation. ‍
