After walking in, we were looked at as if my wife and I were in the wrong place but after 3 or so minutes we were told to sit anywhere we wanted. Luckily the place is dead so we had the restaurant to ourselves. Upon sitting down, we noticed the carpets weren't very clean, tables had some kind of muck on them (salt or sugar) maybe ricin?? Who knows but we chose the lesser of all evils and went with a fairly clean table and wiped it ourselves. We placed out orders and were we surprised. I ordered a whole Italian and the wife ordered a ham & cheese calzone. When we received our food, my Italian was a 8 inch roll stuffed with 12 pizza pepperoni, 3 slices of ham, 3 slices of salami, and 3 slices of "questionable Swiss!??!" The 2 tomato slices I received were a good 3/4" thick and the same for the 3 slices of onion. I'm not saying it's bad but to someone that enjoys all the flavors of a sandwich, their veggies are an overkill to say the least. My wife specifically asked if the cheese Stromboli consisted of ricotta cheese and mozzarella. the waitress replied yes however the stromboli was full of mozzarella and ham only. No ricotta!! I don't know if the employees just don't know the menu, don't belong in a restaurant environment, or just didn't care but our waitress was glum and not very cheerful. As a restaurants main image, a waitress should be knowledgeable in everything on the menu. Took the kiddos in here one night for dinner, and I liked it! We ordered a large Pepperoni & Black Olive pizza and some cheese bread sticks. I didn't care for the bread sticks very much (the kids did), but the pizza was really good! They have a good flavored crust, that is on the thinner side, which is good for me....I want pizza crust, not a loaf of bread. The pepperoni was good, the olives were good, and lots of cheese! In fact, if you don't like a lot of cheese on your pizza (like my hubby, he's weird like that), you might want to request that they do light cheese for you. Not bad, not bad. I had the artichoke dip with garlic salted bread, honey bbq wings, and a pizza with everything on it. Everything was tasted great, I have no complaints. I particularly enjoyed the artichoke dip. They make their pizza from scratch, no the slices are not too big, normal size if you ask me (had the medium size). Their pizza is different in that they place the cheese on last, not first. I guess that would be bad for picky eaters because it would be difficult to pluck off what you didn't like. Personally, I felt that they used too much cheese, but then again, if you like extra cheese, it would be perfect for you. The waitress and food get four, almost five stars. What lost the other two is what I've read complaints about as far as walking in and not being welcomed. We put together the restaurant is self-seat, but a sign would be nice if no one is paying attention to the door. Next, no changing tables in either bathrooms, really? High chairs for little kids, but no where to freshen them is frustrating. My husband ended up changing our son in a closed off area of the restaurant. Our waitress made up for it and was super sweet and accommodating, and the pizza is NOT lacking in cheese which I love! Everything is made in-house and it's quite obvious in a very good way. The service was the worst service I have ever received! We sat down and they completely ignored us the whole night! There were many families that sat down after us who was approached by waiters and received drinks right away. After 30 minutes of being ignored, I went to the front to order a pizza. I had to continue to wait in line to order. Finally, I order and I ask for waters. I paid and tipped them and was very kind. I sat back down and they continued to ignore us for 30 minutes. I go back to the front to wait in line just to ask them if we could please get service and some waters. After another 20 minutes they finally bring us waters. No apology and they didn't say anything to us or make any eye contact. At this point, families who have came in after us have already finished eating and left. After another 20 minutes, my boyfriend goes to the front to ask if we can get our pizza to go. They proceed to tell us that our pizza has been at the front for a while. Nobody told us this at all. And the waiters saw us because I made eye contact with many of them as they were servicing the families right next to us. There was no way for me to know our pizza was ready because they didn't ask for my phone number, only my name. I am so upset with how I have been treated at Hideaway Pizza. Literally everyone else in the restaurant was recieved with a warm welcome by staff and got plates and drinks right away except for us. I have no idea why they would treat us, specifically, so poorly. I was EXTREMELY kind and patient with them and I could have acted much worse. My little sister, my boyfriend, and I are all Asian and everyone else in the restaurant was White. If this was because we are Asian then I am extremely disappointed that our community promotes a racist establishment. Again, so incredibly disappointed. I am an out of towner who like most people are skeptical of local food "joints". I was more than pleasantly surprised by my visit to Hideaway. From the moment we walked in until we walked out, everyone was super friendly and went out of their way to say hello. We were late picking up our order but our food was still hot when we got it home AND it was delicious. It definitely did NOT have a fast food taste. It was delicious. The crust was really good. I've been here three times for the lunch buffet - once with my daughter, once with my BFF, and once with my BFF and our children. The first time, it worked out great. My daughter and I loved the food, and it was a quick way to grab some pizza (which we were craving) and be on our way. The second time, the service was fabulous and my BFF & I were able to enjoy a quiet lunch without children, some wine, and pizza & salad. The third time, things got a little hectic and crazy. There was a lunch rush of sorts, and the pizza kept disappearing faster than we could keep up. Overall notes: there isn't a good selection of pizzas on the buffet, the pizza slices are too big (so if you don't like one you try, you're wasting a HUGE amount of food), and the salad is always just on the right side of limp. A cozy little place hidden beneath an overpass along with other places of business in what looks like an older downtown like most places have. The seating is decent though there are no booths. I love booths as they present a more private & cushy dining experience, but that can be overlooked for the most part. The menu seemed supple enough with the usual Italian meals you'd expect a pizzeria to offer though the adult beverage list was almost hidden. It states wine & beer, but no actual product list or prices. A bit odd. As for the food, you know what I came for... PIZZA! And pizza is what was ordered... a large ("15) pepperoni was put into play as liquid refreshment arrived. A cold bar was offered and who doesn't indulge in a fresh salad along with a hot pizza?? Though the choice of toppings were limited and perhaps a bit strange with a few, the quality reminds me of a more popular pizza chain when they have a buffet. Crisp cold lettuce blend with just enough to make a standard side salad, but not enough to make it a meal. The pizza finally comes out which actually seemed timed well for my eating habits & speed. The first thing I noticed and almost became alarmed with was the complete visual lack of pepperoni. For a minute, I thought the order was botched and was deciding to make a complaint. It wasn't until I was informed that the meat was beneath a layer of cheese so heavy that ordering with extra cheese wouldn't be necessary. Sure enough, the meat was hidden almost like Chicago style. The sauce is tangy with just enough herbs and spices to hint that it's homemade. The crust a bit odd and seemed to leave a bit to be desired. It reminds me of that same popular chain's pan pizza in texture but thinner. In fact, the lack of end crust is probably the most surprising though not necessarily well-received by all. End crust helps in gauging doneness and it kind of shows here as the pizza, while tasty, appeared to be slightly undercooked. The crust was missing that crispiness to match its thin pan-like texture. Not bad, but I felt that a few more minutes in would have perfected the crust and topping texture as well as improved flavor. A bit drawn out but I give Hideaway a strong 3. Biggest credit goes to value of topping and size leaving room for improvement in the overall cooking process or even a different style of crust. read more

After my recent visit with Hideaway Pizza I decided that I had to express my take on the so called best pizza in town. About 5 years ago this place I feel was in it's prime, but over time it's gone downhill on a slippery slope. The pizza slices on the buffet got smaller than they originally were and the inside of the restaurant seems to stay dirty. It's too noisy to eat there if you go at noon during normal lunch hours, plus the dining room area is too small and you are sitting too close to the other tables. I would say that 1 out of 5 visits might be an okay experience but nothing worth bragging about at all. I've had better Chef Boyardee pizza's at home that my kids made than what I've had there. The only positive thing I can say is, I love cheese and they don't skimp on the cheese. I think they do this so they don't have to make a good pizza with actual great ingredients. Also, if you visit their website I can guarantee that the pictures on the looping slideshow is not any from this facility. It's false representation so don't be fooled. read more
