We just happened upon this place and I'm so glad we did! We decided to Uber to Town Square so we could watch the shootout re-enactment, and not have to deal with finding parking. We had our driver drop us off near here and we walked by and decided to check it out. My oldest and I were having trouble findings a hat we liked, but we each found one here! Melanie brushed/cleaned them for us and took time to give us some history about the store. Apparently this is the oldest store in the square. Everything is real and authentic. Some items are relatively expensive because they are REAL furs! We had a blast looking around here and took a card to follow them on IG! Store is fake. They are trying to sell you authentic native clothing when it is made in China. The lady working there didn't like the fact that we found out the clothing in the store is fake! She followed us out to confront us and accuse us of stealing. When ai stood up to her and told her to prove her accusations she turned around and left. Horrible people running this place! Nice wallet We just returned from an awesome family vacation in and around Wyoming. We visited the Jackson Town Square for a little shopping. We stopped into Hide Out leather, initially looking for cowboy hats, of which they have many fine ones. The have a lot of other leather items, from vests to jackets to ladies skirts, etc. Our son got a nice hand-made leather wallet... quite a nice one, and he's using it all the time now that we're home. We went in looking for 4 leather jackets and a purse. Two adults and two kids sizes for our family. I found a $500 bag, $700 jacket and was looking for my daughter. My daughter found one and put it on over her shirt of course because there's no need for a dressing room for a jacket. It was her size and fit perfectly. I commented to my husband how great it fit. My son then put on a pink coat. It was exactly his size. He loves pink. We don't care about that. Almost immediately after he put on a pink jacket, a woman appears out of nowhere and in the rudest, most startling manner says "Don't play with the merchandise! Respect the merchandise!" My son jumped! I was in literal shock. I was standing right there and so was my husband. This was not a case of kids being unruly in a store. In fact, other customers were commenting to me about how I should buy them because they looked great. I said "Are you not allowed to try them on?" She said "they're not for kids!" And I said "Are you serious? They fit perfectly? What does it matter?" And I kid you not she said "this is the women's section!" and she looked right at my son! I can't help but wonder. My kids began to cry because of her tone and volume. We were beyond baffled. I'm still angry that she almost ruined such an amazing trip to Jackson Hole. My kids can't stop bringing up "the mean old lady who yelled at us". If kids aren't allowed in then put up a sign! She already had a sign saying "no photographs" so maybe she needs to add another "rule" to the wall. I can't tell you enough that if quaint, mountain hospitality is what you're looking for, don't go here! Very sad. ended up spending over a thousand dollars elsewhere in the town square. read more

If you really want quality leather and furs, well this is the place. Stumbled upon this place and bought two nice western cowgirl hats. The gentleman behind the counter worked with me to help get my hat fitted correctly as the diameter of my head is the size of a child. I walked out very happy and have received many compliments on my western hats. Pricey but excellent quality. read more

I came to this store in search of a nice leather purse or handbag as I know Jackson, WY is known for their great leather goods. After some not so great shopping experiences down the road we popped into Hide Out Leather to see what I might find. We were greeted by the most friendly, lovely, sales clerk, Jamie and her cute dog. She was super helpful and chatted with my husband about growing up in the area. I told her I was on the hunt for a bag and she showed me where they were and asked about what I wanted. She invited me to dig through the rack as she helped me by suggesting some of her favorites. I was able to look through all of her handbag selections easily as they were all on one rack and in one section of the store. She had an awesome selection of locally crafted leather purses in all price ranges. Jamie helped me to look through the options, gave me the story behind the purses (who made them and how) and even provided critiques of the craftsmanship. She was extremely honest and was respectful of my budget. She also has great leather belts in the store and I got a new one since I was so impressed with the prices and the service. It was a tough decision in the end to make on which handbag to get as she had so many unique leather purses that fit my needs although I have already gotten many compliments on the one I selected. Nice stuff however, there is an overweight older lady there that is a nasty person. I was helping my son try on a jacket and this woman told him to stop playing with the merchandise. When I told her we were buying it she said it wasn't for him and we should have respect for her merchandise. My wife and I are stunned, then SHE pulls the coat off him. He's was crying my daughter was scared. Honestly it's ruined the trip a bit. I've never come across such a mean nasty person. I have been coming to Jackson hole since I was 13 years old. I was looking for a real handmade in the USA backpack & purse. The owner was extremely unprofessional & rude to my husband for asking where it was made from since it had zero info on the bag, in it or on the price tag which was $400. She starts a big story about the bag & then said if it was made here in the states it would not be for $400 but for $1500. It was made in China the bag. My husband said sorry we want a bag made in the USA that isn't what we are looking for then. She states to my husband, I have been running this business for 40 years sir & don't tell me how to run my business (which he wasn't in the 1st place, we just didn't want a bag made in china). She then shows us this other bag which was made in the USA for $600 which was twice the size of the China made bag, my husband said I would buy that one then over the other one. She continued oh & by the way this bag over here is made in Mexico, now get out of my store NOW. Never in my life have I witnessed such hate & rudeness to someone who was only looking for a handmade bag made from the USA. Completely uncalled for how she treated my husband & I. I wanted 2 bags & she lost my business for good. Ended up finding exactly what I was looking from another boutique a few doors down which were handmade in the USA. read more
