This included medication, O2, bed etc... Unfortunately my dad passed away within 2 weeks of home hospice but I believe he died comfortably and with no pain. They were always responsive when I called and when my dad passed, they helped me give him his last bath. The intake nurse called me on Friday and left a voice message that she would like to see my mom the following morning. She also texted me at the same time. I immediately called my mom to confirm and called her back in less them 10 minutes. No answer so I left a voice mail and a text to confirm Saturday. No response even though i returned the message immediately. The following evening she text again asking to come on Monday. I left a voice message and asked her to call me to schedule to avoid another miscommunication. No reply ever. My mom never got the home health she was ordered. No follow up whatsoever by the nurse or the company. It's a good thing I am a proactive daughter and followed up right away with her primary care physician. A more vulnerable patient without an advocate would be left high and dry.

That was the day when she was able to witness one of her combative moments. Realizing how important it was to provide some assistance, she went through the intake process to assess my mom's needs. I requested a Spanish speaking lady and she immediately got to work on her research. About 2 weeks later, she had the right person for me, brought her to our home to introduce her and get her started. My mom was not eager to have a stranger come to take care of her and, needless to say, we had a very difficult first day. However, Maria showed great patience, a very caring and calm attitude, followed all my instructions, and little by little she won her over! We just finished our second week and so far I'm very happy with the results. The bond between Maria and my mom is getting stronger and we keep making progress. At first I needed just a few hours several days a week of relief/support with light housekeeping, daytime supervision, medications and meals. By last October my mother's mental and physical health was deteriorating to the point where she could no longer be safely left alone and I was worn out, so we made the transition to 24/7 caregivers. It was easier than I'd anticipated and has been a huge relief. Francis and his staff are unfailingly responsive, friendly, reliable and know this business inside out. He "got" my mom immediately and has been terrific at selecting caregivers that provide a good match for her. EC@H offers time block options, flexibility, pricing and hand-picked caregivers that you can't get with a big national company (we tried one for a while--lots of billing errors, difficult to communicate with, not very carefully screened caregivers!). Our caregivers from EC@H are wonderful: respectful, kind, careful, well-trained. They've followed "to a tee" the COVID protocols set by Francis throughout the pandemic. I'm so thankful for their sacrifices to keep my mom safe!
