I give the drivers 5 stars! Friendly and professional. Gary is a regular and he's great. The management? Well the time choices are good. ( for me) I've gone from Blowing Rock to Charlotte 3 times. Once there was no wait, just a shuttle change in Hickory.twice there was about a 30 minute wait in Hickory at the little airport. There's a little cafe there but it's been closed during my visits. There are a couple vending machines, but dollars are needed - the dispatch person does not have change. The vans are basic. Seats are pretty small and firm but I've always had a row to myself. The nice drivers always help with bags. Why only 3 stars? THE SERVICE ON PHONE IS DISMAL. Usually, a woman answers who sounds completely annoyed that she has to pick up phone. For example, I tried to book a shuttle last night. The main office was closed so I tried the after hours line and reached someone who could not help because she was driving - "call back at 7am", she snarled. I called in morning and after the grouchy angry "hello", I said I wanted to book the 1:30. "You have to book 24 hours ahead." Ridiculous. It turns out the van was picking up a couple in Boone first, so why would she want to turn away $70.00 extra bucks on a trip already running? I know, logic and business sense is not part of her job requirement and the woman( assuming it's always the same grumpy person on phone) sounds super unhappy. So back to management. Is she a relative? This is where competition helps. Hickory Hop is the only show in town. Thanks to that, and the nice drivers, I'll use them again. L read more

Be wary of using this service if you haven't before! They shuttle left early without me, and customer service was very rude. I have taken the Hop before, with success, but this time, not so much. I made a reservation a few days ahead of my flight, and they do a good job of asking for flight details and contact information. But why would you need my contact information if you decide you are going to leave early and not wait for me? Upon arrival, I told the lady I had a reservation, and she informed me they left 3 minutes ago. So I asked if she could call them and we could run to meet them. She refused at first, until we asked if she could at least try. So she called, but didn't make an effort to stop them. I was there about 2 minutes until, but the lady told me I had to be there 15 minutes prior to departure. It says nowhere on my reservation e-mail to do so. It departs on the hour, except this time I guess. Maybe if you want people there, make sure you include that in the reservation e-mail!!! So, I had to take a taxi, which cost $60 to the airport. The exit that the lady mentioned the van was at, and could not stop for me is over 15 minutes up the road. So they left 3 minutes before me and we didn't pass the shuttle on the way in, and now they happen to be 15 minutes at least up the road magically?? I don't know if there is a new owner, but the fact that you didn't even try to call me, and take off early, then lie about where the van is, or when it left is just rude and unprofessional! read more

The drivers are kind and professional. But if you need assistance....Good Luck.... the front office has ZERO customer service. The front office needs to realize the customers are paying their salary. Rude front staff (female) is beyond unfriendly and helpful. read more

I would say take Uber or rent a car. My experience with this company has not been one of customer service or perfessionalism. They were rude on the phone; the dispatcher spoke on the radio in front of all of us about a passenger who was running late; the company refused to give me my money back for the return trip after I found some retreat participants to take me back to the Charlotte airport; on our way back, our driver went to lunch without telling us, while we waited at the hickory airport in what we thought was only a bathroom break; on the ride from the airport, our driver stopped for gas twice?!! There was no explanation around these delays or apology or setting of expectations. If you have had time and money to waste, these are your people! read more

This is usually a good service,they arrive on time and get you to the airport in the time stated.I used the service on Sunday for a pickup at the airport ,they took me to Hickory and then made me and another passenger wait 45min for the trip up to Boone. read more

We have used HH ourselves quite a few times from Boone. Since our children all live great distances away they too are fairly frequent users of HH. We have always been pleased with the service that HH has provided until this past Xmas. Our son and his family were visiting from LA and were flying out of CLT early December 30th. We called HH the night before to confirm a Boone pickup and was informed that HH would not be picking up in Boone the next morning due to weather conditions. We had no choice but to let our son use our vehicle to drive to Hickory. I couldn't accompany them as my wife had just broken her arm and I had to remain with her as she was in considerable pain. When our son called us from Hickory he said there was a little slush on the sides of the road but otherwise quite clear. I had to wait about 10 days to find someone to drive me to Hickory to pick up my vehicle. I had to pay the driver $50 to take me to HH. When I complained to the lady at the desk she didn't seem interested at all. I called HH afterward and spoke to someone who claimed to be a manager. I explained what had happened and that HH had breached its agreement and had caused me quite a bit of inconvenience because of it. My son had to drive to Hickory in my auto. I was without my vehicle for about 10 days. I had to pay $50 plus lunch for 2 people to get my auto back. I was credited $50 for my inconvenience. I wrote a letter where I said I didn't think a refund of $50 was a fair remuneration for the trouble their failure to pick up had caused us all. I wasn't asking for a cash rebate, but I felt a larger credit for future use was the appropriate remedy. I can grant that their driver may have thought conditions were too bad to make the Boone trip even though they were not. That's water under the bridge. The part that irks me is that my letter to HH was completely ignored. I never heard from them to this day. The customer is not always right but he is the one who feeds the bulldog. Companies can and do make mistakes. This is just part of being in business, but when a company allows its employees to take a negative approach to complaining customer, or even worse, to totally ignore a written complaint, their days are numbered. Any time you make customers feel their concerns are of little importance you risk losing that customer and, of course, anyone connected to that customer. Word of mouth is still one of the best ways for a company to grow--or to fail. read more

I have used Hickory Hop before to get to the Retreat Center in Whispering Hills. There was a travel alert from my airlines to consider changing my travel plans due to the arrival of Hurricane Florence. The airlines said that there could be potential delays and cancellations in flights out of Charlotte. My shuttle was suppose to arrive at 1:30 PM on Friday and I called at 1:15 PM on Thursday to cancel my shuttle pick up and request a refund (24 hour notice was given). I was really busy trying to make changes in my travel plans and continue my program at the retreat center. The lady on the other line refused to give me a refund. I asked if I could get a credit for future use, considering that I am a frequent user of Hickory Hop and she again refused flat without giving much reason or even apologizing. I'm not making a change because I just felt like it. There is a travel advisory. Stay away from Hickory Hop! They are dishonest, inflexible and will take your money and not provide you a service. Alternatives are Uber, Lyft and Air Haven Airport Shuttle. read more

Great service, prompt and reliable, friendly drivers. The vehicles are clean and comfortable. My only suggestion would be to have drivers waiting at the Hickory Airport when passengers are traveling from or returning to Boone. While it was not a major problem, and I arrived at the CLT in plenty of time for my flight, I had a bit of a wait in Hickory when traveling from Boone to Charlotte. The return trip was much better. Gary (the driver) was there to pick me up in a matter of minutes, and he should be complimented for his competent driving, and helpful, friendly, and pleasant personality. I would definitely recommend this much needed and convenient shuttle from Boone, and I will use it again whenever I fly from Charlotte. read more

My wife and I had a very bad experience after landing in Charlotte late one Saturday night last month. After arriving slightly earlier than our scheduled arrival time, I received a call from the shuttle dispatcher confirming our arrival and was then given an ultimatum explaining that if we did not get to the shuttle within 15 minutes it would leave us and we'll need to get other means of transportation home. My wife and I then had multiple conversations with the dispatcher who was very rude, threatening and showing no professionalism. The good part is we were successful retrieving our luggage getting to the shuttle van. If this company has plans to continue future operation, I suggest someone with the authority should provide some customer service and professionalism training for that shuttle dispatcher. The good is the shuttle drivers all have been very professional and courteous and its a shame to have one person to ruin it for all considering the time and effort that these drivers put in ensuring their customers all get to and from the airport safely. read more

Don't expect Hickory Hop to accommodate any change in schedule for winter weather. I've been stranded and paid $125 for a cab with no refund from the Rabbit. read more
