This quaint B&B…read moreis only a short drive to the Blue Ridge Parkway (maybe 5-8 minutes driving) and about 15-20 minutes drive to the Stone Mountain park. It is out of the way down a long driveway, and most likely you'll be greeted by their super friendly dog, Hunter. Jim and Margaret are great hosts, providing freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and lemonade upon arrival. The check-in process is short and sweet and they are available when you need them, but the place is big enough to give enough privacy despite the community spaces. I surprised my bf for his birthday and we came up just for one night. We stayed in the Yosemite room and it was perfect. The king bed was super comfortable, and the room had a ceiling fan, flat screen tv, electric fireplace (for ambiance and/or for heat), and the bathroom had a shower and a jacuzzi tub. It was right around the corner from the kitchen, so in terms of noise, you do hear the clinging and clanging of cooking and cabinets/drawers closing, but it wasn't a major issue for us. If you're sensitive to noise, then I would suggest getting a room on the second floor instead. Our room leads off to an external entrance to the back balcony/porch area so we could come and go from the back door instead of going through the house/common area which was nice. There is always access to coffee (fresh brewed in the morning or a Keurig for afternoon) and hot water for tea or hot chocolate. Upstairs, there is a small fridge that has complimentary can sodas and bottles of water for guests to have. I put our bottle of champagne there to chill. The highlight of the stay of course was the breakfast promptly served at 8:30a. We woke up to a beautiful spread and shared a nice breakfast with nice conversation with 12 other guests. It was family style, so we passed the food around and around until we were all miserably/happily stuffed. Margaret's famous cinnabuns were really delicious - super sweet and fresh. Overall - Everything was clean and just really done well with nice subtle touches throughout the B&B (ie. light music in the background of the common areas, fresh cut flowers in the bathroom and bedside, foaming bubble bath by the tub with a pillow, several candles in the room to assist with creating a romantic ambiance, super plush robes and Bath & Body Works shower products (soaps, shampoo, etc) to use... We definitely hope to come back and enjoy/relax again in the near future :)

This cozy little cabin has a loft bedroom with one bed and a half bath. Downstairs is a living room that is equipped with a pull out sofa bed, perfect of an eight-year-old. The grey stone fireplace and chimney occupy the center of the structure and are beautiful. The full kitchen is well stocked with pots, pans, dishes, coffee-maker, cups, coffee, tea and there was a plate of fresh-baked cookies waiting for us on the table when we arrived. Just off the kitchen is a full bathroom with a fantastic Jacuzzi tub. But the piece de resistance: the most perfect "settin' porch" overlooking the creek behind. No kidding, the perfect spot for your morning coffee! In the mornings, we walked up the hill to the main house log home with another amazing porch. The innkeepers make a homemade sumptuous breakfast every morning. On the first morning, there was fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, biscuits, cinnamon rolls, baked grits. On the second morning, we had shirred eggs with ham, waffles, Moravian sugar bread, fruit salad. We enjoyed the breakfast at a common table with other guests, sharing our stories of our journeys and adventures. Delish!!

This park is exactly what I was looking for. I live full time in my camper van and wanted a place…read morethat I could park and not have to drive to get groceries, go to the post office, do laundry... etc. BUT I also wanted a place that was quiet and still felt like I was in nature. The park is designed so that each lot has the creek behind it. Right outside my window I have a beautiful view and a lovely sound to fall asleep to. Each spot has its own picnic table and a nice level gravel ground. It also is in walking distance to the Virginia Creeper Trail! If you don't know what that is, check it out! Another fabulous thing about this park was that my Verizon Cell service was clear enough to stream television online from abc.go.com. YAY! You will need to have your own bathroom and be fully self contained in your vehicle. The price is affordable! I don't ever use all the stuff that KOA's and resorts have... but end up paying for all of it. This is nice because it has a little more of a "camp" feeling and you don't have to sacrifice your whole months paycheck. LASTLY - Damascus is SUPER friendly! EVERYONE says hello when they walk by. Seriously, 1 out of every 50 people say, "hi, how are ya?" And check out the Blue Blaze Cafe... surprisingly good food in such a small town. Burger is dee-lish! OH and one last thing! I came for Trail Days but ended up staying a whole month. I pretty much have the whole place to myself, too! It's super relaxing and sorta nestled behind a quiet little neighborhood street. The walk into town is about 15-30 min depending on how fast or where you want to go. It's a pleasant, safe, and pretty walk. I wish there were more parks like this all over. I have a 22ft sprinter van conversion, by the way.

Instead, we found a neglected and uncared for older house. It was simply not up to our standards for a rental! Our Prior Experience: As previous VRBO house owners in Boone and Blowing Rock, NC, we always were sure that our renters "got what they paid for" ................ A well-managed, clean, up-to-date, well-furnished and outfitted with all utensils and amenities needed. Our previous experience with VRBO has been very positive, up until now. Jennifer at Carolina Mountain Properties was responsive to our requests, but she could not have given us what we expected with this house. This house was not what we have previously experienced on VRBO What was Experienced Light bulbs out in numerous locations (we found bulbs) Light fixtures old and cheap No chairs suitable for sitting out on the back deck, instructions were to drag from house Fan broken and not repaired as requested Toilets often needing plunger to clear Scalding hot water in showers due to complex plumbing fixture Mold in downstairs room Furniture very old, worn out and dirty No cue sticks available for pool table (corrected) Downstairs radio not working Dangerous stairs, two falls Parking inadequate and difficult Numerous screens missing Several old and missing blinds (3 were replaced) No water glasses (corrected) No wine glasses (corrected) Broken pull out kitchen cabinet (repaired) No cutting board in kitchen (corrected) Décor outdated and dirty Decking splintered Kitchen Utensils skimpy Linens need replacing Junk under the house Slippery bathtubs as showers, no handholds Old Christmas dishes .... really ETC. Beautiful natural stone everywhere. Note that the website offers photos of each room and you can book the room you prefer. -The staff are wonderful: Brianna the bartender, Kat the "breakfast wizard", and all the front desk and other staff. Personable, always up for good conversation, really committed to excellent service. -Continental breakfast is next-level with treats from Stick Boy bakery. If you're lucky to be there on a day when there are lemon lavender scones - don't miss them. -A parking lot in downtown Boone! With a back door leading to it! -Walking distance to Mast Store, Appalachian Theatre of the High Country, App State campus, school logo shops, restaurants and breweries, and much more. -A rooftop bar with gorgeous views, also excellent just for sitting and sunning anytime. The room walls are thin so we heard a lot of noise from the outside waking us up early in the morning. You also have to pay for parking at 25 a night but there was a lot of construction making it difficult to get our car out. I know not the hotels fault but definitely keep that in mind. They had really nice robes. They also had a sound machine in the room. We had a thing on the wall that would randomly flash at night and beep. We had issues with the bathroom. The door would not close all the way and We could not get hot water when we tried to shower late at night. We had to go to the front desk and they had to call maintenence which took a bit to work through the issue. Eventually they got the hot water back but an annoying time waster. They discount our stay at 10% for the issue. The breakfast was really nice full of local pastries. The staff was so nice and friendly. The lobby area and bar was super nice and had a cute vibe. The roof top is super pretty at nice with nice fire pits. The staff was super friendly. I would have rated a 4 star but the price was high plus the issues we had knocked it down a star.

They have a playground for kids, picnic tables, a clean bathhouse with warm showers, and a fully stocked camp store! Each site had a picnic table & fire pit and river view! We had so much fun! Best part of all, they have a canoe/kayak trip! We did the 5 mile canoe trip, and it was a blast! Definitely made the trip : )
