If you're feeling adventurous, and love bacon you should take the scenic ride and check out Hickory Hill Smokehouse The pepper garlic bacon really is the best bacon I've ever had, I really didn't think it was possible but Hickory Hill found a way to make bacon that's better than bacon!! And the jalapeño meat sticks are totally worth it! We buy a few packs and freeze them. They also make sausage, kielbasa, liver worst, smoked hams, smoked cheese curd, smoked blue cheese. They sell grass fed beef as well. The owners are so friendly this is such a great local small business. They're offering call ahead curbside pickup, check out their Facebook pathis place is a hidden gem for sure 5/23/20 update: For as long as I can remember, White Eagle hot dogs were the best. I was wrong! Hickory Hill Smokehouse jalapeño cheddar hotdogs are hands down the best hotdog I've ever had. They're spicy and snappy. If you haven't been to Hickory Hill, it's definitely worth the ride to check them out.

Very nice family owned small town local business meat and wild game shop to get your hunting game turned into hot dogs, sausages snack sticks and more. The nice thing about here is it is not community meat, the meat you drop off is your meat in the hotdogs when you pick it up which is very appealing. I brought venison to the shop to get turned into cheese hotdogs. When I picked up my order everything was very professionally vacuumed sealed and each individual hotdog package had very clear information and labeling. You may end up getting more final product than originally quoted but the family ownership is great and flexible to work with when it comes to scheduling drop off, delivery and price point. Overall, I think the quality of the product for the little higher price point is worth it and to support a local business.

Having several amazing BBQ experiences here over the past few years I felt it was high time to…read moreshare my thoughts and encourage others to sample some fine down home barbecue. This time we brought another couple of friends with us and ordered a full platter. It was served up in a matter of minutes and it incredibly completely filled three platters with assorted barbecue, including a full rack of ribs, pulled pork, sliced turkey, a quarter chicken and bratwurst, not to mention sliced pickles and rolls. Of course we selected three sides to come with it (which were included): a nice smoked potato salad, cider coleslaw, and cider braised sautéed greens. We added two homemade sauces, peach chipotle and applejack. Well the ribs were smoked using applewood and were so tender the meat fell off the bone. Everything was delicious and the sauces were superb which came as no surprise since they were made using fruit from the restaurant's adjoining farm. To wash it down we ordered an apple cider slushy which was thick with flavor. Again, no surprise, as there is an apple orchard on the farm. We were so stuffed that we joyfully took about half of the food home with us! I've enjoyed barbecue for a number of decades, including down in Memphis, and I must say that this no-frills restaurant with outdoor and indoor picnic table seating can play in the same league as some of the more renowned barbecue joints, certainly in the Capital and Hudson Valley regions. Come see yourself and while you're at it, check out an amazing distillery next-door as well as the wonderful adjoining farmstand (cider doughnuts!).

As a…read morebarbecue lover living in the city where it's often expensive and strangely absent from many menus, I simply couldn't leave without getting myself a plate. We ordered a half rack of ribs to split, waiting about 15-minutes for our name to be called (too long for two people frothing at the mouth for it). The ribs came undressed, but you could help yourself to as much sauce as you like at the counter. We tried both the apple and chipotle sauces, preferring the former, which was sweet and smokey. It paired perfectly with the tender, fatty ribs. When I think back on it as I am right now, I salivate. My husband also ordered their brisket sandwich (available only on Sundays), which looked just as appetizing as the ribs. The meat was cooked wonderfully medium rare with a charred exterior and a slightly pink interior. My husband ate that heartily. It was one of our favorite bites of the trip. I'm envious of my past self for enjoying that meal while I sit here now, craving it but unable to have it again.

Lady behind the counter couldnt be any nicer. couldnt decide on what i wanted so i chose a 3 meat platter with 2 sides. went with burnt ends, pork ribs and jalapeno sausage with potato salad and pickled beets. Everything was delicious, if I had to pick a favorite the burnt ends just melted when you bit into them. sausage had nice bite from the jalapeno. homemade potato salad was great and so were the pickled beets. their homemade sauces also stole the show with the mango habanero just kickin my butt, but couldnt stop dipping everything in it. the Q here was just so good i brought another 3 meat platter home to the fam for dinner! this time i went with those ridiculous burnt ends again, jalapeno sausage and brisket instead of ribs. the brisket was delicious however i prefer it sliced rather than pulled. mac and cheese and baked beans were the side choices this time, and of course just terrific. more of that mango habanero sauce too - so addictive.... only negative i would say is i didnt love the complimentary pickles. who cares when everything else just knocked our socks off. i love great bbq, so i wish this place wasnt so darn far away from me. however, whenever I am up this way, this will be an absolute must stop for some fabulous Q. thanks J&J - my treadmill hates you (but i dont).
