All I can say is what happened? I have tried this place before and remember it was decent food. It's been a few years since I have tried the hibachi and boy was I disappointed. Ordered a steak and shrimp combo thinking I would share it with my daughter and noticed the box of food felt really light when I picked it up at the counter. Worst hibachi ever. The rice wasn't cooked properly... looked and tasted like they just poured soy sauce onto it and stirred with a spoon, not fried. I asked for zucchini and onions but all I got were onions and maybe 2 slivers of wilted zucchini. The Steak was dry but thankfully edible. They should be ashamed to serve this to customers, especially since all they make is the same dish over and over.... They literally only make hibachi meals!! Not much choice when it comes to vegetable sides. I was given carrots that looked and tasted pretty bland. Not much seasoning or sauce with the meal besides the yum yum sauce on the side. I ordered one Shrimp plate and one shrimp and chicken both with the carrots. They both came with about 10-12 shrimp and about 4oz of chicken, a bunch of rice, and about a cup of carrots. The meal was tasty! The sauce has a bunch of sodium so if you don't want the bloat tell them hold the sauce. If you're looking for the traditional hibachi with the egg, mixed veggies, and butter sauce this is not it. But if you are looking for a tasty, filling (enough for lunch and dinner leftovers), express hibachi meal, this is your place. Don't let the negative reviews keep you from trying it yourself. I got takeout from here this weekend since I was feeling really sick and didn't want to cook. I got the sushi appetizer, which is 5 pieces for $6. Pretty good price! I thought most of the pieces were really good and the fish pieces were nice and large. The only one I didn't particularly like was the salmon, which is usually my favorite. The texture was a bit off, like it was getting old or something. It was mushy and somewhat grainy. I still ate it and didn't get sick, though. I also got the tofu yakisoba bowl which was pretty good. It tasted like standard takeout noodles. I didn't care much for the yum yum sauce, but the sweet sauce they included was a pretty good addition to the noodles. I'm a regular at the HibachiMan in Alpharetta, because I work nearby, and I love their food & customer service. I frequent that location at least 1-2x per week but I live near this location. Last night, my guy and I decided to try out the Smyrna location to get food to go. We arrived around 8:40 to place our order (they close at 9pm). I tried to order my normal go-to - the Large Hibachi Steak with zucchini and onions. The staff member at the register informed me they were out of steak (what?). He gave us a moment to decide if we wanted to order something else, so I tried to order a Regular sized Hibachi Chicken. He responded that they had chicken available, but only sweet carrots as a side. At this point, I was truly frustrated, as they didn't have two of their main menu items, and he just didn't seem to care. With somewhat of a bad attitude, he explained that we came in right before they were about to close, which gave me the impression that he just didn't want to prep the food that we were trying to order - he wanted us to order what he already had prepped, since it was near closing time. At that point, we walked out. If the establishment is open, then they should still be offering the full menu until the actual closing. Any sort of attempt to keep my business would have been better than how this was handled - offer me a free drink or a discount off the next time I come in or something if you're truly out of food. He just didn't seem to care if we ever step foot back in there. This experience was a true disappointment - night and day difference in customer service from the other location. read more

As a lover of great hibachi, I was quite thrilled to see this establishment brought to the Vinings area. I love great Japanese food, but don't often have the time to travel to some of the local Japanese steakhouses. I also don't always want to pay the price tag that comes with most hibachi dinners. However, this establishment brings quality hibachi at an affordable price. The very clean dining area clearly reflects the "express-ness" as there are only about 4 small tables to sit. I ordered the choose two hibachi dinner (chicken & steak) to-go and my order only took about 10 minutes. Who doesn't like prompt service? The food tasted great. Not the best hibachi in town but definitely recommendable. The special light-colored sauce, which is common at most Japanese steakhouses, definitely was a nice compliment to the meal. Mehhh.... I was let down to say the least. This place is within walking distance from my house so I was over-the-top excited to see a Hibachi Express coming. I tried it not too long after they opened and was underwhelmed in every aspect. I dislike leaving negative reviews on Yelp but this place left me no choice. The food was bland, I couldn't tell that it was seasoned in anyway. I ordered the steak and shrimp combo with fried rice. The fried rice was basically white rice cooked in soy sauce, no flavor and nothing in it. The shrimp was basically baby micro shrimp, very small for what you would expect. The steak was so so, probably the best thing on the plate but nothing to brag about. The yum yum sauce was the only thing with any flavor, so I drenched my plate in it and powered through knowing I was only trying to get my money's worth and avoid going somewhere else to buy another meal. The place is small, no frills. There is a guy on the register and the Hibachi man himself manning the grill. The wait is about 15 minutes and the prices aren't too bad but definitely not worth the low quality you're getting. I actually feel bad...I wanted this place to be good so bad! Best of luck Hibachi man, hopefully you read these reviews and make some changes. If not, I hope the next restaurant in that space is better. read more

I love their menu because it's so basic. You choose a meat, veggie, & size--that's it. There's seating available but it's mostly a takeout place. Everything is served in disposable containers. I still eat it there though! The chicken & steak is really good. I went another time with a friend and she said the scallops are salty. But I mean they're scallops, so that's expected to some extent. They also have shrimp as an option. The veggies are onion, carrot, and zucchini. They're slightly sweet and you can order any variation of them all. They make everything relatively fast so you aren't waiting around too long. But beware, if you come right at noon you'll probably have to wait a little extra because they are pretty popular. I've had to wait like 15-20 mins one time but it was rush and honestly it's worth it. I ain't mad about it, haha. They don't have a drink fountain so if you order a coke or something you get it in a can. Overall, if you're chill with the atmosphere, the food is amazing. read more

Definitely agree with other reviewers. Not bad but certainly not good. Marketed as a 'quick hibachi grill' Prices are good and food is okay...I guess... Tried the veggie entree, barely any good stuff and steamed carrots?? Please throw those on the grill as well if you're getting them out of a can. Rice was disappointing, definitely lacking any semblance of a hibachi grill flavor Don't go in expecting a true hibachi experience. Visited the newly opened location Cumming/Alpharetta. To me it was mostly a rice event. Not enough protein and veggies for the price. A better buy is the usual Chinese lunch with entre, rice, spring roll and soup for about the same price IMO. Also did not like the Styrofoam container for eat in or take out, a paper plate would be nice. Happy to see another restaurant open in the area and wish them the best! read more

Neighbor told me he did not have a good experience. He said very few pieces of meat with lots of rice. Not good value and he would not go back. I asked if he thought they would be open a year from now and he said definitely not. I told my wife but she wanted to try it since we live across the street. DISGUSTING FOOD!!!! This place was a total disgrace! I ordered the combination with scallops and shrimp, and sadly had to pay extra to have both carrots and zucchini with onions. I love hibachi for all the fresh veggies, but this place only offers carrots and zucchini?? And you only can get one or the other unless you want to pay extra?? It gets worst... I didn't look at my food until I got home which was a big mistake. If I had checked my food before leaving I would have rejected it on the spot. I paid like $16 for SLOP! I had a container predominantly filled with rice, only three thin slices of zucchini, onions and CANNED CARROTS, YES! They were definitely canned carrots (gross!). To add insult to injury my scallops and shrimp were SEVERELY OVERCOOKED (felt like I was chewing rubber). Lastly, the sauce that comes with it literally tasted like it was just thousand island dressing. I could not stomach the food, it was inedible, so it got thrown straight in the trash where it belonged. I will NEVER eat here again, and will warn other people as well. Honestly, this place qualifies to be on an episode of Hell's Kitchen, the food was that bad. By far the worst take out I have ever experienced. Never again. read more

The food was tasty. I'll be back. The only negative is that they aver very slow. There were 4-5 people ahead of me. It took 30+ minutes to get my order. It seemed like they were cooking the food one order at a time. Perhaps this will get better over time. On the positive the flavor was great. For those complaining the food is bland, this is what a good hibachi yaki suppose to taste like. Most other places douse the food with syrupy sauce. If I could give 0 stars I would. Hibachi/fried rice is horrible!!! First time ordering 7/2016 and the rice tasted and looked like instant rice. They placed all the veggies on top of the rice and had quarter sized carrots on the side. Have never experienced hibachi rice like this before. It was so nasty that I went back minutes later to give tge the food back and to get my money back. Save yourself the trouble and go to a real hibachi restaurant. But don't go here.
