Horrible experience. The owner falsely accused my 80-year-old grandmother of paying with a counterfeit $50 bill. At first claiming it was 2 years ago, then 2 months ago, then last December. No proof, just intimidation. They threatened to call the police unless she paid immediately, then gave her a $50 bill they claimed was the "fake" one, as her change. We filed a police report for theft and for putting counterfeit money back into circulation. This salon constantly pressures customers to pay in cash, claiming their card machine is always down. In my opinion, this may be part of a scam they run on unsuspecting customers. Avoid this place. We are filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau. read more

For Mother's Day I wanted to treat my Mom to a pedicure. She's a young 88. We arrived an hour and a half before closing, and there was no other customers in there. I asked specifically for Vivian and another gal. I used to be a regular here and have since moved away. I used to be very pleased with Vivian and would tip her $20 for the great service. But this time was one that will keep me from ever going back! 3 women and a man were working. We selected our nail colors and wanted designs. We asked to see their samples and they said they were already locked up....like these are so valuable??? So we pulled out our phones and showed them our past design we wanted. They were all on their phones and acted like we were keeping them from playing their games or whatever was more important than we were. We went with an upgraded pedicure and they were done in 15 min! It was the worse pampered treatment I could have ever imagined giving my Mom! I believe we paid around $90 and in any pause in the 15 minutes they were back on their phones. We went up to pay and looked back to see they were all back on their phones again. They acted like we were an inconvenience! Customer service sure has gone down the toilet here!!! I went in to get my acrylic taken off & a new set put on. The lady at station #5 was very rough & was using the cuticle clipper open scraping at my nails. I then realized my nails might be thin and asked her to just remove my nails and I'd give my nails a break. She became rude once I told her that & charged me 15$ for acrylic removal that took 15 minutes. & another customer walked in and he was a little different but wanted his nails done & he was talking to one of the ladies as she was showing him colors & he began to talk to her and ask questions and she was very rude just ignoring him and shaking her head "No" she then asked him to pay first and it turns out they don't accept discover card so he didn't end up getting a service but once he left they all laughed out loud at him and one said "he was annoying" VERY Rude! I didn't have a bad experience here, I would say it is like most nail salons in a mall, busy, shuttle them in and out, and upsale, upsale. The English was very hard to understand, but I tried and when they suggested the Shellac I finally gave in after the 6th time of the upsale try. It was gorgeous and it was done in no time. However it did not last two weeks as promised. Maybe that is just me but my nail chipped within hours. Then they didn't tell me that Shellac doesn't come off with normal nail polish remover. A week later and I'm still trying to get it off. It looked gorgeous and I enjoyed it but it was very conveyor belt like of a process with so many people; it was quite busy. The customer service i lowkey good but the only thing i can say which isn't bad at ALL i mean it was a simple mistake but the guy that was doing my nails filed one hand 2 times because he forgot her did once before so one of my hands nails is BARELYY longer. The new tech that I was with took over 20 minutes just to file off my old red and black polish. She didn't even file it all the way off so it showed through my new color. She did not do enough Coates for the new polish so it's very streaky looking comma and also did not do straight and all the way to the sides on my tips. I was skeptical of this place at first but this place happily surprised us. Our nail appointment at our favorite place was cancelled and this was our only day of the week to get our nails done and we were calling around everywhere else and everyone else was closing or booked for the rest of the day. (It was 5:50pm on a Saturday). We drove around the mall and this place came to mind and we just decided to try it out. Right away they sat us down and the communication was good, the color selection was good, and the shaping was good. Both of us were sat down by 6:00pm and out by 6:20pm. We were so impressed, it normally takes us an hour at least for us to both get fills and gel polish and it was really good! I got a coffin shape with one solid color, all my nails are even and the paint application is good too. I kind of loved the atmosphere also, I know it's kind of an outdated place but it's nostalgic and their work is definitely up to date. Prices were good too! We will be going back. read more

This is the first time I've had a salon pedicure where they soaked my feet in cold water. I asked for hot water repeatedly and they added a some, but it never felt truly warm. I would think a place like this would have a large hot water heater. Not sure why they appear to be rationing it. If I go back, I'll ask for HOT water before I even sit down and see what happens. read more

This place is terrible DO NOT GO HERE! They ruined my nails. I walked in to get nails done and she was rough with the filing, I've had acrylic nails done a million time (my mother is a nail tech, but sadly doesn't live here) and they have never hurt after getting them done. It was even worse when I took off the nails, she had been so rough with filing them that she actually filed into my nail bed on all of my nails!!!! I had perfect outlines of where the edge of the tips ended on my nails. Also they are all deformed and I think I may be loosing one completely. I am just horrified with my experience here. My mother always warned me about these salons where they just try to rush people in and out and don't care about their customers. Hopefully people have read of my wife's horrible experience at this awful place several weeks back. The nail techs here were brutal and did so much damage to my wife's nails that her fingers were red and literally throbbing with pain. My wife was curled up on the bed at home in tears because it was so painful. The product was also applied incorrectly and the process was NOT hygienic (in my wife's opinion - and she has worked in a salon environment before). The cost is also extremely unreasonable with regard for the lousy quality of service, the damage to her fingers, and obvious poor experience level of the staff (or at least the staff member who messed up her nails). I gave this place one star only because Yelp doesn't allow you to give less. In our opinion, Hi-Tek is an awful, awful, awful place. It has now been a month since we posted the first review and you would think the management would have read this and called us or emailed us to apologize, or give a refund, or make some offer to make things right, but there has been nothing! We're convinced that they just don't care. At least we don't have to worry about ever going there again, so that much is good. That having been said, I wish to give the following positive update... My wife walked into another salon yesterday called Angel's Nails (which is just next door to Tony Romas on Gage Blvd). When she showed them her nails and explained about her horrific experience at Hi-Tek Nails, the nice lady took her in immediately and repaired all the damage and did a beautiful job on her nails. To top things off, she did it all a NO CHARGE and invited my wife to come back in a few weeks... My wife came home, showing off her beautiful nails, and was so happy. They really did an amazing job... Hey, I'm a dude and don't know anything about this stuff, but my babe's nails looked HOT! :) She will definitely be visiting Angel's Nails again... but NOT Hi-Tek! If you want things done right, by experienced and friendly staff who know how to treat their customers awesome, skip Hi-Tek and go over to Angel's Nails!!! My sister and I went in for French tips and they looked awesome the night they did them but almost all of them peeled off or chipped by the next day didn't even have the Nails for 18 hours and they already look horrible went in to ask for a refund or for them to fix them and claimed that it would just happen again because of the nail polish and that we didn't pay for the gel polish, and that it was our fault and wanted to charge us to fix them...not good customer service and I have never had nails come off before a full 24 hours...I would not recommend wasting your money here read more

Tecnician cut my finger, constantly twisted my fingers even when I told her I had RA and couldn't turn them that far. Within 4 hours the polish on 3 fingers was peeling off. Went back and they just looked at me like I had 2 heads. Got the nails redone and this morning woke up to find 6 nails peeling. Will not be going back nor recommending the place. read more

Trin did a pretty good job on my nails. I just get gel polish changes and have only gone there twice. That place is ratchet though. Open bottles of paint laying around, nasty booths that double as storage at the end of the shop. It is always packed but I just think that's because they are cheap. I gave it 2 tries and although I really like the young Trin, I can't go back. It is really dirty. It's bad. It's only a matter of time before someone gets a serious infection. Oh and even if you make an appointment, you'll still have to wait 30 min. They take anyone who walks in the door even if it means making appointments wait. read more

I went in for a shellac manicure and feels as though I got ripped off!! I honestly don't care about money I'll give an awesome tip if they've earned it and usually even if I'm not satisfied but this experience was horrible!! When she had me pick a color she gave the wheels but they must use only one coat on those cause the color weren't bright enough.. When she asked what number I told her I wasn't sure that I just wanted a deep red and instead of making suggestions she got irritated at me and told me that's all they had.. When she was removing my previous shellac she was soaking my nails in tin foil n cotton I was like ok I suppose that's their way of doing it.. I've seen it done differently else where.. Then when she figured it was done soaking she took of the tin foil and began scrapping my nails with the metal cuticle pusher to remove most of the polish now at this point some of it didn't come off but instead of re soaking my nails she used a very gritty nail file to sand down my nails and by gritty I mean very rough not a file that I myself would use for my nail beds.. I thought she would use a much finer smoothing file after but she didn't she left my nails extremely rough with lots of ridges looking like my nails were peeling and very thin!!! Then came the polish time at this point I'm wondering when the manicure part happens since so far it just seems she's changing the color but I didn't say anything because I this point I just wanted to be done but I didn't want to be rude n just leave.. She puts on the polish I picked and did a very poor job of it there bubbles and unevenness then she had me put my hands under the light for a timer after that I thought I was done but I guess that's when the manicure started but all she did was put a dime size amount of lotion on each hand and very very quickly rubbed it in the whole "massage" part lasted I kid you not 1-2 min then she said I was done.. When we went up to the counter she tells me it's 25!!! She actually thought that was a manicure!!! Really!!! For what she did I figured that was a color change!!! I wanted to cry I was so mad!! But I didn't say anything I just paid no tip n left!! I'll never ever go there again!!! I really felt disrespected and ripped off!! If I could give no stars I would!! read more
