I was alerted to a major issue with my relatively new car early Saturday morning. After spending over an hour with the dealer's off-hour technicians, I was ultimately connected to the local AAA service, which was Hi-Tech Towing. Because cars these days are computers on wheels, we had challenges getting the car into neutral and the steering unlocked so they could push it out of the garage and lined up to be put on the truck. The owner, Akash, and his staff driving the tow truck spent at least an hour with the dealer's technical team to sort out the oddities of safely getting the car on the truck. They delivered the car to the dealer in Grants Pass that afternoon. These guys were helpful, resourceful, experienced, and very friendly. I had my car needing a tow between port orford and humbug. Dealing with roadside assistance and Akash the NEW OWNER from this towing company was frustrating beyond words. Akash ended up towing my car after I got a ride to his shop to pay for the towing. He told me it would be $ 190 to tow my car to Brookings. He wrote out a bill stating it was a total for $220 with 14 miles and the tow fee being $150. Clearly the tow ended up being further than 14 miles but thats all my insurance would pay. I called my insurance today and they covered the full $220. When I asked for a refund of my $190 I paid in cash he claimed that the total tow amount was $450 and that he wrote the receipt to the insurance company and I had to pay the overage but NONE OF THIS WAS LISTED on the receipt he provided me. Come to find out my insurance would have payed more had he wrote the correct information on the bill. Shady business ripping people off. Seems nice and helpful until you get the tow then the story changes and he scams the insurance company. USED TO BE a good company NEW OWNERS ARE CHEATERS AND LIARS DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! read more

I am so impressed with Ev's High Tech Towing. After my mom died in Gold Beach, they safely towed and stored her vehicle until my family and I could address the situation. On our way out of town, my vehicle got in a fender bender, and Kevin swooped in and hooked up my rig like it was no big deal. His kindness and patience was much appreciated, with everything my family and I had already been through during the week. I didn't get to catch the name of the tow truck driver who drove me/my ride down into California (a 200 mile trip!) but he was a great sport, and gave me a huge hug after dropping me off. The Thanksgiving holiday is a terrible time to have a mechanical issue with your tow vehicle. It's worse when you are stuck at an RV park 400 miles from home with you wife and kids. Ev's High Tech bailed us out. Kevin towed and fixed the truck within a matter of a few hours. We were able to make it home for work and school. I am not surprised by all the good reviews on Yelp. WENT THE EXTRA MILE(S) September 2020 Vacationing on the coast, parked at a wayside, sun going down, car won't start. Who you goin' to call? ...no one because your cell phone is dead too. Fortunately, two compassionate hikers drove us to the Chevron at Gold Beach and we met Isaiah who was closing up for the night but went out of his way to find us assistance - none to be had at that hour including taxi service back to our motel in Bandon - out of options, he told us he would drive us back to our car to see if it would start and then back to Bandon if it didn't (on his own time, 90 minutes down and back)! ...the next day we arranged for towing (by Ev himself) and we were on our way... My RAM 1500 truck broke down at the Humbug Mountain Campground. AAA set us up for the tow, but Ev himself got involved to be sure everything went smoothly. He was right on time (with his granddaughter along for the ride) got the truck on the ramp of his truck in no time. We stopped in Gold Beach on a roadtrip up the coast, and got a flat tire due to a nail. Kevin expertly assessed our tire, and quickly realized our run-flat-tire could not be patched. He presented us options to order a tire, that would have required a few days since it was a weekend and also called Les Schwab in Brookings on our behalf (which we opted for). We ran over a screw while travelling down the coast on spring break, and this station was the only one in Gold Beach that could handle a flat repair. Our tire ended up being beyond fixing, but instead of trying to push a sale on us, the attendant suggested that we drive down to Brookings and hit up the Les Schwab there, as they would be better able to help us. He torqued the lug nuts on our spare, filled our tank and sent us on our way. The attendant's friendly demeanor and consideration for our needs was refreshing and appreciated. read more

Nearly a week later, I'm still angry about how I was treated at this station. Last Wednesday (3/18/15) I had an appointment at 9 a.m. for my and my partner's car to get a new battery and battery cables. We had made the appointment nine days earlier; we did that because our work schedules demand it. I was assured by the mechanic that day that the work would take "half an hour, tops." Nine days later, on the 18th, I drive in at 9 in the morning only to be told by the mechanic that it would be "two, two and a half hours before we can get to it." Now we all know what "two, two and a half hours" means in mechanic-speak. It means "four, four and a half hours," if not more. But "two, two and a half hours" was already entirely unacceptable. I didn't *have* "two, two and a half hours" to wait! My questions are these: why even have an appointment book if you don't honor the appointments you make? Why bother? The mechanic treated me gruffly, and did not bother to apologize for blowing me off. We've had mechanical work done at this station before, once. We were relatively pleased with it. But the treatment I received last Wednesday was totally over the line. As a result, we're looking for a new mechanic to do business with. We've had several good referrals from trustworthy folk (several of whom told us to avoid this station, as they've had negative experiences as well); hopefully we'll find someone who actually honors their commitments and appointments as put down in their own books, which aren't used as set props. read more

Car broke down on the jetty about 7 pm. Called for a tow. They were there in 10 min. Unfortunately starter was toast, he took my car after driving us back to out motel. In traveling home from the North on the 101 15 miles outside of Gold Beach Oregon the RV trailer we were hauling broke a leaf spring and then the axle broke and that ended travel as we knew it. I had a 9am appt. And when I showed up the mechanic on duty told me "I won't work on that car today" I brought up the appt. But they still said no. I explained I was from 6 hours away and I'm broke down. Still nothing, it was suggested I should take it back there then.....horrible service. And they told me $ 85 an hour plus parts. I ended up going to Napa and getting tools and parts and fixed it myself for $59.76. No thanks to them!! Horrible visit and experience. read more

Driving from San Francisco to Portland, I managed to rip a hole in my oil pan and ALMOST destroy my engine. These guys were so nice. Our tire pressure light came on in the middle of our road trip and after passing three gas stations that either didn't have air machines or the machine was out of order, we came upon this chevron. Not only did they have an air machine but Fred personally checked each tire and pumped air for me. I was driving to northern California from Portland, with my aunt who is a senior, in my 14 year old Toyota RAV4 when the check engine light came on. I pulled into this Chevron & they were very kind in checking it out for me, & in the end because I was staying that night in town anyway, I brought it back the next morning & had them run a scan on it. Though I had no appointment, their mechanic saw the car right away, did the scan in a thorough way, explained the results to me, & told me it would be OK to continue my trip. He also told me what to watch out for (which luckily didn't happen). They gave my aunt a nice place to wait so she didn't have to be cold, & I was in & out of there in half an hour for a very reasonable price. We broke down in Gold Beach Oregon late in the after noon on July 3rd. Our vehicle was towed to Ev's about 4:00 pm. They knew we were traveling and over 400 miles from home. They were able to troubleshoot an electrical problem and make the repair that evening. We had our car back by 7:00pm. We are grate full to have had the fortune of being towed to Ev's. When I go in, they do an inspection and are ALWAYS competitive in their pricing. They call me by my first name. I almost feel it is like my own kids working on my car. After-all I am 70 so most everyone could be my kid. They are polite, professional and always do the job right. I would recommend them way over any mechanic in Brookings. Need tires? Pickup broke down outside of Brookings at night (of course). Kevin from Ev's Towing towed us to our motel in Gold Beach and then checked out the problem while we were fishing the next day. Shawn from Ev's then towed us all the way to Medford to the Ford dealer to get it fixed. Nice guys both and very professional. Will be an expensive pickup repair, but can't ask for better towing service. read more
