More importantly, we explicitly confirmed--again and again--that the advertised price was exactly what we would be paying, plus standard taxes and state fees. We were assured repeatedly that there would be no surprises. Based on those rock-solid promises, we made the difficult decision to cancel a full day of our scheduled work. Stepping away from the business is not something we take lightly; it means real sacrifices and lost revenue. But we believed their word. Even while making the long drive down to Houston, we called and texted them one last time to ensure everything was still on track. They texted back confirming everything was exactly as expected. Then we arrived. Walking through the doors, the atmosphere immediately felt off--a classic, sleazy sales environment. But the real heartbreak happened when they finally put the paperwork in front of us. In a blatant bait-and-switch, they had tacked on over $3,000 worth of unrequested "elite protection plans" and other phantom accessories. When we pointed out the discrepancy and asked for these forced add-ons to be removed so we could proceed with the agreed-upon price, the salesperson deflected and went to get his manager. We expected an apology and a quick correction. Instead, the manager marched over and, with stunning arrogance and rudeness, flatly told us, "We don't negotiate." There was no negotiation to be had; we were simply asking them to honor the exact price they had guaranteed us just hours prior. We walked out empty-handed. We lost an entire day of our lives, sacrificed a day's income, and burned through a tank of gas, all because this dealership relies on deceptive, sleazy tactics to lure people in. THIS WAS NOT A "BAD DAY." THIS WAS A SYSTEMIC PROBLEM. Buying a car from this dealership was one of the most stressful and disheartening consumer experiences I've had. What made it worse is that none of it felt accidental. It felt practiced. We initially came in to look at a truck for a family member and were not planning to purchase a vehicle. While there, I saw a Mercedes-Benz GLS 450 and agreed to buy it only after being assured that several visible issues would be fixed prior to delivery, including curb rash on the rims, a damaged center console, and a very dirty interior. Our sales associate, Bryan, repeatedly told us the dealership was non-commission based and explicitly stated multiple times that he did not financially benefit from selling a car. Later, when coordinating our return to purchase the vehicle, he insisted we wait so no other associate would be involved. Only after the sale was complete did he admit he does receive a flat fee per vehicle and did not want to split the deal. This was a clear misrepresentation. The most serious issue occurred during financing with Kelly. She repeatedly described the warranty as "fully loaded" and confirmed multiple times that it covered everything we asked about. When we reviewed the paperwork, only one limited coverage option was selected. We pulled up the warranty provider's own website and showed her, in real time, that the selected option did not provide full coverage. Despite this, she continued to insist it did and dismissed the evidence. Had we not caught this, we could have believed we had full coverage for months or years while being financially exposed to thousands in repairs. When we returned the next day to pick up the car, we drove over an hour and a half with an eight-year-old after being told the vehicle would be ready, only to be immediately informed upon arrival that it was not and would not be ready until the following day. At that point, I escalated the warranty issue to another finance manager, Eugene, who presented paperwork with the previously missing coverage suddenly checked. This unintentionally confirmed the earlier misrepresentation. While I ultimately received the coverage promised, it was clear this was damage control, not transparency. The car was later delivered to my home. It had not been detailed, had a low tire pressure warning on, and the rims were still damaged despite rim repair being the reason for the delay. We then discovered a hole in one tire and had to pay out of pocket for a patch on a tire that costs roughly $400. Attempts to reach the General Manager were unsuccessful. We were redirected to Jason, who was dismissive and offered $150 toward the tire and $25 for the patch, minimizing an issue that was part of a much larger pattern. We also attempted to escalate beyond the dealership. The CEO email provided bounced back, and outreach through LinkedIn received no response. What stands out is not one mistake, but the consistency. Problems were only addressed after confrontation, accountability was avoided, and escalation paths were quietly blocked until exhaustion seemed to be the goal. I love the car. I made an appointment to test drive the car. Upon arrival, I was told about an additional quality control fee of $1700. This really made me angry and suspicious of the dealer. A manager came over and begged me to at least look at the vehicle...so I did. Suprisingly or not, the car had 4 different tires on it. This was so strange for a car with only 20000 miles. I was told only dealer vehicles came with matching tires. That was it and I promptly left. They are super deceptive very unfriendly and when ask about an optional elite protection plan they tell you that unless you accept it which you don't have to it clearly states on the paper that they handed you to sign then they will not sell you the car. They actually told me to leave their property and they didn't want to do business with me because I asked them to remove the $1698 elite protection program. They are fraudulent and their financing and sales managers are just awful people. I don't know how they sleep at night. Hidden costs, Scammers and Bullies. Be careful. What's advertised is not what's on display(we had a guy texting us the car was available and when we hit the place they told us the car was sold). Unnecessary warranties are mandatory (you need to add ~$2K to any cost you see, the will also sell you warranties on top of the price and made you feel stupid if you don't buy them). Store manager and Financial Advisor are bullies and don't explain financials clearly (play with emotional intelligence and abuse the customers psychologically) and disrespectful. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE. This was the most sleezy place I've ever been to. I wasted over 3 weeks of time and resources to come here. I went in looking for cars within a $8k-$10k price range. I specifically asked and messaged this place multiple times about an inquiry on a specific car. After being told the car was available, I made my way over to the dealership. Upon arrival I was immediately met by a salesperson (not car dealers sales person). I sat with them and asked about the car I wanted to which they told me the car was "sold" (2018 Nissan Rouge Sport that's still on their website as 'available') frustrated I decided to see cars within my price range to which I was told I didn't qualify for financially (I have okay credit). After being denied for any car in my price range due to "financing," I was approved of cars well outside my price range ($14-18k cars-my range was $8-10k). After asking about how I wasn't approved for lower priced cars (which doesn't make sense financially) I decided in that moment I was done. As I'm on my way out, I overheard a client asking about the same Nissan I wanted and how a salesperson was going to "get the keys so they could test drive it." So much for "no haggling" and "no negotiating" because I'd say those were the 2 things I had to deal with the most from people of this place. While car shopping and speaking with agent ( Moin Uddin) i was treated like a criminal/ car theif only b/ c I did not have my current car insurance with me.: however with 10-15 minutes of being at this location my agent sent me an email copy showing that I am fully covered and it does not expire until January 2027. Their strategy is tailored to the bait and switch. I had a pleasant experience despite noticing the lack of sincerity early on. Once paperwork is in front of you they surprise you with hidden fees in the thousands. They insult the customers intelligence by saying it's normal. The only reason that I am giving them a 2 is that they at least did drop the price on the car I bought because of all the multiple issues that definitely made the buying experience terrible. First, when you call the number for the Houston HGreg about a car on their Houston site, you are actually talking to a person in Florida, regardless of the time you call. My first question to them was "do you add ANY dealer add-on's of any type at all", the person answered "No, just TT&L, that's it. "I said, OK, because I am not interested in any dealer that runs their dealer that way, all add-on's should be optional, not mandatory". They assured me that they just charged TT&L. Second question was "can you make 100% sure that the vehicle is actually there and hasn't been sold, as I have had 2 dealers say they had cars and promise to call me if they sold while I was on the way and when I got there they had already been sold hours before I go there". The checked and assured me that the vehicle was available and made an appointment for me to see the car which was sent to my phone. When I got there, they have me the run through on how "honest they were, how they are the ""Costco of used cars"", no hassle pricing, bla, bla, bla". Then had me give my license and proof of insurance and only then did they come back and say "um, we sold the car earlier today". I asked how that could be and that's when the excuses about how the calls go to Florida and they don't know if a car is sold or not because they keep sold cars as being available for 5 days on their sights, just in case they return the car. So when you call and they say it's in stock, that means exactly nothing. You need to have them transfer you to that actual store and then have them put their hands on the keys and confirm that the car has not been sold and does not have a down payment on it or you very well waste a lot of your time, but they have what they want, a buyer in the store so they can try and sell you something else. Then they called the next morning and tried to give me a "deal" on another car and then they figured out the car I had driven out of my way to come buy the night before and if fact not been sold, but had a down payment on it which ran out when the previous night came to an end, of course nobody told me this the night before. So they gave me $ off for my trouble and I drove my truck and trailer back to get it. That's when the mandatory extra $1,600 for a bunch of extra stuff I didn't want was explained to me. Not when I first called and asked and was told TT&L only, not the night before, buy after I drove back a second time. I wish the dealership that I bought my new truck at had a car that would have fit my needs, because Classic Auto Group in Galveston doesn't play any of these games. They have billboards and radio commercials all over town stating that they don't force you to pay for dealer add-on's unless you want them. They also know if they have a vehicle in stock or not. I highly recommend that you take the trip to Galveston and deal with an honest dealer. HGreg is going to charge you $1,600 or more for their lame "Elite protection plan". You are paying for aluminum wheel repair coverage even if you're vehicle has hubcaps. Take a look at what you are paying for vs what it's actually covering and you be the judge of whether it's worth it. I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at HGreg. I came in specifically to look at a 2015 Camaro and simply wanted to get an idea of what the monthly payments might be. Before giving any of my information, I asked twice if the credit check would be a soft pull because I've been actively rebuilding my credit. Both times, B. Rodriguez assured me it would not affect my credit score. After viewing the Camaro, I was directed to fill out paperwork that felt excessive and unnecessary for just getting a payment estimate. I asked again about the credit inquiry and was once more told it would only be a soft pull. I ended up leaving before speaking with the finance department because the wait was too long. On my way home, I received a notification that a hard inquiry had been done, and my credit score dropped 5 points. This was never disclosed to me, even though I asked multiple times. I feel completely misled and deceived. If you value honesty and transparency--especially when it comes to your credit--be cautious. My experience at HGreg was the opposite of what I expected. Well I did my research and was excited to find the price they advertised for the 2020 4Runner that I wanted- it was such a deal at $2K-$3K less than other dealers. I drove an hour and was assisted mainly by a Sales Associate (SA) who was super nice and then the Sales Manager (SM) came over to say hi (he gave me to creeps). Anyway, car seemed good after my lay inspection and test drive. We came back in and I asked the SM "Could I bring it to my mechanic for an inspection?" No. Could my mechanic inspect it on a lift at their garage (which is on-site BTW)? No. SM wanted to know how much my mechanic was charging for the inspection - I changed the subject thinking if you're not paying, what do you care? I wanted to leave and SA kindly printed out the purchase proposal and I figured out that the "deal" wasn't real - they added a NON-NEGOTIABLE fee of $1,600 called the "elite plan." On top of that I found another $250 in fees - including the "dealer inventory tax" (why should I pay for the dealer holding their inventory too long?). They advertise a low price to get you in the door and then recover their reconditioning fee with the "elite plan" so there is no actual savings. Also here in Texas as of January 1st when registering a car it does not have to pass a safety inspection. So even more reason to have it thoroughly inspected. All reviews are true. Walked in looking to purchase a vehicle after setting an appointment online. We were assisted by a woman who didn't even know her own inventory or take the time to actually identify the car. When we walked out to the lot, she lead us to the wrong car, instantly displaying to me she knew nothing about the cars she was selling. She then asked me " do you know where it is?". I had to lead her to the car... Anywhom, I test drove the car and determined it wasn't of interest and looked at the other cars they had. I found a car I liked and when I asked to test drive the car, they brought the keys out, only to find out it wouldn't start! They ended up having to come out and jump the car. Almost every car on the lot has severely rusted rotors/ brakes but if you ask if they will take care of them they'll tell you no. Took it with a grain of salt and went along with it after them coming outside to jump the car, test drove, and settled on the car because it was fairly priced, or so I thought. There was a "mandatory" $1698 fee for a warranty. But if you actually read into it, it's only a cosmetic warranty for if your windshield were to crack, or your paint were to scratch, or if you were to lose a key. There's no warranty for anything mechanical. So I told the lady we wouldn't need it because in the RARE case the windshield were to crack, I'd just pay for it. This is when the entire energy of the saleswoman changed! She instantly displayed a face of irritation and told me that these fees were mandatory, and that I would HAVE to sign a CONTRACT of AGREEMENT TO PURCHASE the car BEFORE they disclose the APR. I was taken aback by this and I then asked if that was a policy placed in writing, and asked if she could show me physical proof. She said yes, went to her MANAGER, Lupe, who then approached and not only proceeded NOT to bring any physical proof that these extra fees and regulations were mandatory within their policy, but also argumentatively tried to talk to me about how credit works as if I don't already know. Basically implying that if I'm having all of these issues with their "policies" then that means I can't afford the vehicle because I don't want to pay any extra fees and deflecting from the fact that they're clearly just trying to upcharge you. I repeatedly communicated to Lupe that he was not addressing my concern and he never did end up bringing any physical proof. His stubbornness and argumentative behavior really ruined the "hospitable" environment HGreg was advertised to have. I expressed to Lupe that I was going to walk from the deal as the integrity of this business is extremely low from management to staff and his energy was not hospitable at all especially as a manager. He responded "I'm only hospitable when I sell a car, if the car isn't sold then I can't be hospitable". This is a testament to the salesmanship at HGreg. Unethical! These guys embrace the true idea of what is expected from a used car salesman! The scam started from the moment I walked in the door. This is my experience: (1) I called prior to find out if the vehicle I'm interested in is available prior to my 45 min drive from Cypress and the answer was YES. (2) The mileage advertised had an additional 2 miles on the vehicle. (3) They were attaching another $1500 for what they call the elite package which was not agreed upon prior. (4)I Did all the paperwork for 0ver 30 mins, including a hard credit check, to then being told that someone was in the office, which they have none, in the process of purchasing the same vehicle. In my opinion this dealership is very suspect in how they conduct business. THE GOOD: The car price is straightforward and the offering price for your vehicle is fair. they get kudos for that. THE BAD: When they bring the final numbers to you, they add in $1,995.00 for a worthless protection package that the sales manager tries to pressure sell you and states "we add this into every deal and don't delete it". Stand your ground and it will be removed. It is worthless and a sham to increase profit. They also state they don't pay commission, which is true sort of, but they do pay a "bonus" on each car sold. I went in preapproved from several sources with an excellent FICO credit rating. When I finally made it to the finance office after waiting almost an hour, the rates from Capital One were much higher than my approval letter stated. They conveniently could not find my approval number in the system, despite me being able to pull capital one up online on the app and showing them. I have other vehicles financed with another national company and they again conveniently could not pull up that company as ""they are being slow to respond and it is pending". They offered me some unheard of company at over 10% APR, which is crazy with a high FICO score (744) The warranty they offered was not with a highly rated company via online reviews and when I asked for Ally, as I have had warranties with them prior, they quoted jacked up prices much higher than other dealerships. I showed them the cost breakdown and deal we had agreed upon with Capital One. They still jacked the payment some 40,00 per month more. I simply stated, "No", I was not going to pay that. The sales manager then comes in and tries to strong arm me and use bullying behavior attempting to insult my financial abilities by repeatedly telling me it is only 40.00 and surely if I am the guy I appear to be by my dress and credit scores then it should not be that much to me, and then telling me that "you just need to do it". His attitude was appalling, inappropriate, condescending, and very offensive. let him know that I live within a predetermined budget and I will not break past that budget. He got angry and I left. I will add that they do not fix anything with the cars either. The Cadillac I was looking at was a XST, which is not made any longer, hence why I was at this dealership. They only had one key and the interior wood trim in a couple of places was faded, so I knew going in I was going to be out 600 or so myself just to get it up to par. I was willing to bear this cost, but not the increased interest rates and additional fees. I will also add that they bait and switch on sales people as well. The person I talked to at length was a Jessica on the phone. At no time did she indicate she was not a salesperson nor was she not at the dealership. When i arrived, after spending all this time talking with her about the deal etc., I am told she is somewhere else and that she is just an operator in a call center. AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP IN MY OPINION - VERY UNPLEASANT EXPERIENCE AND COCKY, RUDE, ALOOF, and SELF-ABSORBED SALES MANAGER THAT I DID NOT CARE FOR AT ALL. THE SALESMAN LOUIS WAS NICE AND THE FINANCE MANAGER WAS HELPFUL. THE SALES MANAGER MAKES THIS BUSINESS LOOK PUSHY, SHADY, AND GIVES A VERY BAD PUBLIC RELATIONS IMPRESSION. THE SALES MANAGER WAS FOCUSED ON A SALE ONLY AND MISSED THE FACT THAT A REAL PERSON WAS STANDING IN FRONT OF HIM. IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE BENJAMINS AND NO THOUGHT ABOUT BUILDING AN ENDURING CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP THAT COULD LAST FOR YEARS TO COME WITH THE DEALERSHIP. After signing paper work, contracts and putting down a deposit, I was told I could finalize payment and pick my car up after the weekend. I received a call that the car was still sold out from under us even after paying a couple hundred dollar deposit. Reading other reviews, this happens frequently. Their excuse was that "the sold sign was thrown away" but what we assumed happened is that since we were able to negotiate a great deal, they decided to sell the car at a higher value or the online price to another customer after we left. Bad business practices and all of the 5-star reviews you see, you are asked to submit one while sitting inside the dealership before you leave. An agent spent 15 minutes narrating about how cool they ste and that it us a Canadian analog of Autonation and then he went to get the keys for the car we came to test. 5 minutes after he arrives saying that the car was just sold but he can offer us something else. I left and called them 2 days after. They still had the same car on a website. I asked if it is available a They told yes. Avoid buying a car from this company. I purchased a vehicle from them and within 4 weeks I started having major issues with the vehicle. These include: 1) replacing the entire pully system, including the tensioner pully 2) rebuild engine block 3) replacing multiple electrical components 3) replacing front and rear braking system, including brake pads, calipers and rotors. 4) hydraulic system In addition to the repairs, the vehicle has poor sealing around the doors so the cars leaks heavily any time it rains. Simply put, it is impossible that HGREG inspected the vehicle to the level they list on their website. Not. Possible. I have purchased many used vehicles from other dealers.
