With so many choices for lunch in Wallingford, going to a place twice within a week for me, is on its own a ringing endorsement. I got the Chicken and Steak bowl with Vegetable, Brown Rice and Avocado the first time which was excellent. The vegetables, brown rice and avocado brought an $8 lunch up to a $12 lunch. The meats were well cooked and very well seasoned. The vegetables were cooked but still crunchy....which I think is perfect and the rice was hearty and flavorful. Their sauce is delicious and came perfectly proportioned with the rest of the bowl. The side of avocado was a freshly cut half of an avocado and was fresh. My second visit I went for the Chicken Bowl with Brown Rice and Vegetables. For $8 I found the second experience to be equal to the first.....maybe should have gone for the avocado again because it was the perfect addition! I took everything to go, but the seating areas are bright, clean and inviting, both inside and out. Once the yogurt is flowing, I'll be interested to see how things change. So far so good.....see you next week. read more

Great food and service here. As soon as I walked in the owner explained to us what was on the menu and even told us what was the popular items. Food tasted fresh. They don't cook with oil only steam. They take cash and credit cards. As soon as we were done eating the owner gave us a 20% coupon to use on our next visit. read more

HFT Grill - Chicken bowl. - Teppanyaki Near Me - Wallingford, Connecticut

The verdict is still out on HFT. I have eaten there a few times. I have been happy with everything I've had, but never really blown away. Keep in mind that they claim low calorie, low fat, no oil, and overall healthy. They have nutritional information available but only share it upon request. I thought this was odd since it's a restaurant that prides itself on healthy eating. I think they would benefit from segmenting their menu out by calorie range. Also keep in mind that each menu item is available with brown rice or wheat wrap alternatives. Overall I would recommend HFT. It's important to note that the flavor profile of the food will be limited due to the "healthier" angle they take. read more

HFT Grill - Chicken & steak plate - Teppanyaki Near Me - Wallingford, Connecticut

Wanted to try some fresh chicken teriyaki and opted to get the Chicken and Steak Veggie Bowl it will not let you down. You can tell that they use the freshest ingredients and care about the healthy options they offer you. It's deff a huge step up if you want something fresh and a really good meal. Also tried the shrimp bowl and that was really good too so IF YOU HAVEN'T TRIED THIS PLACE YET, you DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR MISSING. read more

HFT Grill - Amazing, and Fresh. Can't wait to come back. - Teppanyaki Near Me - Wallingford, Connecticut

This is a great Korean food spot. The food is the epitome of the name HFT. Its healthy, its fresh, and its so tasty. They have an extensive menu which means there is something for everyone. From burritos to bowls there is great food here. Their bulgogi is outstanding. The flavors in all of the ingredients used are very distinguishable in each bite you take. I loved this place from the first time i had it, and will keep coming here until i move too far away to get it. Overall rating Food 5 stars. Staff 5 stars. Cleanliness 5 stars and then some. read more

A great little gem! A healthy quick meal at a really good price. They have phenomenal chicken teriyaki or steak (bulgogi) any way you order it (plates, rice bowls or burritos). Fresh veggies too! Haven't tried the salmon or shrimp yet, will have to try them next! read more

The chicken teriyaki bowl & the steak bowl are delicious and the chicken & steak together with the vegetables. I had to stop myself from going here everyday to get the bowls lol. read more

Excellent food and good ingredients. I've eaten here many times and everything is consistently good. The variety of foods is a bit limited, but I highly recommended it if you like teriyaki. Their burritos are a strange combination of ingredients but surprisingly good. The prices are reasonable, although on the higher end for takeout. I'd love to see a lunch special added for the Bowls and Plates. read more

Love HFT Grill. Have never had a bad meal yet and even though they say they are healthy it doesn't taste like it at all. Their teriyaki sauce is comparable to sauces ive had at higher end restaurants. Also the portion sizes are very big and reasonable for the price. read more

HFT Grill - Chicken and steak bowl - Teppanyaki Near Me - Wallingford, Connecticut

Healthy, fresh, tasty...well, at least two out of the three! We definitely enjoyed our dinner here a few days ago---it was a perfect quick stop and we appreciated that it was healthier than a lot of the fast food restaurants nearby (although our bowls still had a lot of teriyaki sauce for "healthy" plates!) I recommend ordering the steak as opposed to the chicken---the steak had a lot more flavor. I also recommend getting the bowl with veggies (I liked the cabbage; the carrots and broccoli seemed a little bland but I think that's because they were steamed). The bowls are reasonably priced and we left full. I'm glad a place like this exists in Wallingford. read more

My new favorite spot in Wallingford.. stopped by for lunch, got the chicken veggie bowl, it was so good that I stopped back later in the same day to buy 2 more.. excellent food read more

You can never go wrong at HFT Grill. I've been coming here for about a year and a half, and it's been great every time, I've never been disappointed or left hungry. The meat is always just right, cooked well (but not too well), and flavorful. The house teriyaki is fantastic, I always get a bit extra. I usually go for brown rice, but the white is good too. Veggies are crunchy, go well with everything else, and a good addition to get a good, balanced meal. Highly recommended for lunch, but dinner is a good time too. Order ahead, and they'll have it ready by the time you get there. Delicious! read more

I remember when HFT opened and I was skeptical at first but boy am I glad I tried it! The food is so good and the teriyaki sauce is to perfection. I normally do the white meat bowl with brown rice and extra teriyaki sauce. The steak bowl is also excellent. I turned a lot of my friends and family in HFTs direction and all of them have also enjoyed it! It's nice to support a nice local family owned place read more

My husband is all about healthy eating and eating foods with little to no oil. This place has allowed him to enjoy take out with all the extra greasiness that he hates! It's very fresh. He loves that he can opt for brown rice instead of white. When I had this place the first time I got chicken and rice bowl. The second time I tried the steak and I would say that the steak is way better as far as taste than the chicken. read more

Great place for fresh food. Consistently good. Worth a try! Teriyaki beef is the bomb.

They have great food and quality, previously the quantity was better. This is my daughters favorite place for steak bowls she orders At least weekly. Lately the service and food has gone downhill. The last 3 times I ordered, the amount of steak that was in the bowl was pathetic. Also, they never answer the phone. Not sure if management has changed but we have been very disappointed. We will NOT be going there again for a while. read more

I had the bi bim bap w/tofu, which was decent. My son and nephew (10 & 11), who just had finished jumping at Skyzone next door, had chicken/veggie/rice bowls. They kept saying how great it tasted. So, hey, bring your kids to give them some healthy food, and they might just like it! read more

Place is kind of hidden it's across the street from Ricks on 5. Basically you wait in line and order a rice bowl with whatever protein (chicken, steak, shrimp or salmon) you want about $7.50 and you add $1 for each addition (veggies, avocado and brown rice). The taste was avg nothing to write home about its basically grilled and drizzled with teriyaki. I would go back just because they gave me a 20% off coupon to use. read more

My kids are obsessed! They love the mixed rice bowl with beef (bibimbap) and gobble it up - all the veggies included! The food is tasty and fresh. The restaurant is clean and they are always friendly. Happy to stumble upon this little tucked away gem! read more

The food here is very flavorful. Additionally it really feels like you are eating something healthy, without unnecessary filler ingredients.

The new menu item, mixed rice bowl, is the Korean stable bibimbap, and it's delicious!! The restaurant itself is simple but clean and nice... Would come back again! I feel it's not getting the attention it deserves.... Oh, and the owners are super nice!! read more

The hotel clerk recommended this when we asked for a teriyaki/ rice place. It was fast and it was good. We had a steak and chicken rice bowel very tasty but we did ask for more sauce Price eas reasonable, folks were friiendky. I would recommend to others if your looking for this type of meal liwe were. read more

I was very excited to try this place after reading the reviews. It is a very cute and trendy spot especially with everyone being on health kicks as of late. I opted for the chicken/steak awesome plate which was amazing and I wasn't even able to finish, didn't expect so much rice & meat for the price. The chicken was very good. The steak wasn't too great, it has a jerky flavor which I'm not too crazy about. Overall my experience was great and I would highly recommend this place. I really want this place to succeed, since Wallingford is full of food places all on the same strip. Service was also great, the cashier was very friendly and explained the menu to me with it being my first time there. Would love if they somehow added noodles to the menu! read more

It doesn't look like much but this place is a hidden gem and it's quality Asian style food, with drinks you don't find anywhere else but the Asian market or eastern hemiSphere love the food, it's tasty , it's healthy 5 stars read more

HFT is a great find if you enjoy "fast" food that is tasty and healthy. I will admit that I drove by it several times before stopping simply because I really wasn't sure what to expect. I decided one day to try it for lunch. And, now, I am hooked. The food is made to order and cooked without oil, which are two great bonuses in my opinion. I love the chicken, steak, and veggie bowl. They have brown rice as an option, which I prefer. Overall, a great, reasonably priced spot for some healthy food! read more

awwww man, I hate to write an average review. I do so, not to hurt the business, but hopefully tell them what I wish they would improve. I will start with the good. The food is very tasty, It seems fresh and prepared healthy. The portions are perfect and the prices are very reasonable. Nothing tastes processed, and the flavors are light but flavorful. Service has always been great. Now, what I think could use improvement, there just wasn't enough meat. The rice was awesome, the sauce was awesome, the veggies were great and cooked PERFECTLY. There just wasn't enough meat for me nor either of my two sons. We aren't the type of guys that need big slabs of meat either...but the ratio was off. We just ran out of meat way before we got through the veggies and rice. If there was a double meat option, I'd gladly pay a few dollars extra and frequent the place much more. read more

What an amazing find! I was visiting family and they informed me of a new joint that had opened up down the street and we decided to give it a go since we were in a rush. Service is fast and courteous and the food is even better! Upon entering you are greeted by an open space with a super sleek modern look but it still felt very warm and inviting. There was frozen yogurt on the left hand side which I was tempted to try but I was so hungry I was concentrating on my food order. I had trouble deciding so the cashier was intuitive enough to offer suggestions which I appreciated. So already first impressions off to a good start. Let me first note that the prices are unbeatable! Maybe it's because I'm from NYC that the prices were such a shock but I felt like it was way below the standard price for food of this quality! Check it out if not for the flavors but for the affordability! I ended up ordering the steak and chicken bowl which was fantastic! The flavors were spot on - fully packed with savory elements and the best part was I felt great afterwards. I was satisfied beyond belief and actually felt healthy and fresh as they advertise themselves to be. It was also tasty so kudos to their motto because they hit all three marks on the head. Next time I visit family again I will be sure to stop by this hidden gem again! I definitely recommend all of you to try! read more

Sadly nothing Healthy Fresh or Tasty here. I am almost believing that all these great reviews are made up. Regret having my husband take me here for lunch..the chicken teriyaki bowl consisted of a good portion of lukewarm stuck together white rice, and some lukewarm chicken that tasted like it was cut from a supermarket rotisserie chicken, covered with a lukewarm salty bottled teriyaki sauce. I found it very unappetizing. I would never go back..we were the only patrons here the afternoon that we went. Now I know why. read more

This restaurant is pure genius! The taste is fantastic, and I love the healthy greens and fruit twist. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients. I would hands down recommend this to friends and family - even strangers. It's that good! read more

This place is excellent. I forget to go here, because I'm rarely that far down Rt. 5 but I really do enjoy the food. The food tastes fresh, is healthy, and you don't leave hungry. The staff is great, very friendly and has no problem answering any of your questions. Service is quick, too. A definite must try if you haven't done so already. read more

I just discovered this place recently, and I really like it. I get the white meat salad and a chicken bowl. The dressing for the salad is great, I wish I could get more. It's a healthy clean meal that wont' make you feel heavy like you've been eating bar food all day. read more

Just found this place!!!I'll give it a 4 cause the food is amazing and a great healthier alternative. The steak bowl is just like you would find at a Japanese gyu don. Very flavorful sauce over sticky rice. Mmmmmm. Delicious. Miso soup is good too. Good choice of sanpellegrino as well. Only problem is the atmosphere. It still feels like a fro yo spot. And although it's BYOB, I doubt I'd ever come for dinner. It def feels like a lunch spot. And I will be coming here for lunch quite a bit. read more

Just tried HFT Grill for the first time. Second forkful came with an 8 inch strand of hair being pulled from my chicken and rice dish. Extremely not happy. Will not be going back! read more

Not sure why this place got so many good reviews. When you walk in it honestly smelled like burnt soy sauce and the tables were pretty dirty. The food was pretty subpar and kind of wish I didn't spend the money. Not sure if management has changed but it really does not deserve the high rating that it has. read more

I may be a bit biased because of my Asian heritage. But actually, this place is the bomb. It actually made me write a Yelp review. When I first walked in, I noticed how clean and neat the place was. The portion was good and may even rank as the best teriyaki I had in awhile. The chicken teriyaki awesome plate is a must-try and my girlfriend had shrimp bowl and really enjoyed it as well. I am planning on brining my friends back here for lunch. read more
