At one time, each little neighborhood had several of these laid back small bars where the bar tender looked after your needs ( and asked after your family), you could get a snack from the kitchen, have a smoke and play some darts. And the drinks were cheap and strong. (Not everyone can afford the $10 martini including myself and therefore I often miss out on the bar stuff and drink at home.) This place has been around nearly 40 years - long enough to recall the days of 24 hour bars open in Cicero- and the interior has cool old old style lights and clocks and a series of horse racing pictures on the wall. Knowing the neighborhood, I won't be surprised to learn those horses were possiblely owned by former bar owners or their friends. It was common for Outfit and Outfit wannabes to have horses 30-40 yrs ago. The bar tender was friendly and quick and the bar appears to be well stocked- including Marloet- the locally produced liquor. There's even a pot of coffee brewing on the bar- by sobering up or for mixing in a drink. Your choice. The hours are so totally old school, I had to laugh- open 7 am to 3 am. Open on the way TO work for those who hate their jobs and open on your way FROM work for those who hate going home to your families. I was happy with the junk box selection in the several hours I was there- elvis, 70s rock, a little old time country. And the bathrooms were spotless. You can get big bottles of beer for under 2 bucks. I recommend stopping by when you are in the neighborhood - particularly those of you who think Oak Park's the hippest. This bar will show you the true working class nature of the area- and send you home a litle happier.

The decor is nice and clean and the pool table is ok. I think the 1.00 popcorn is a bit of a stretch. But overall, the place is decent. You will have a riot if you like norteñas and 80's rock in Spanish. The selection of music could be a bit more expansive, but I'm happy with what there is to choose from. I'll be honest with you, this isn't much ambiance in this place at all and you get some of the strangest characters that show up randomly. They also make a House vodka called the "Andy Special," which is the name of the late owner. This shot is definitely a wild card and it never tastes the same way twice.
