Worst customer service. I had no option as my car was in the collision center after got hit from behind. The other party's insurance uses Hertz. Terrible, horrible experience. The 1800 would tell you one thing only to get a different thing when you go to this office. The lady there seems to have a bad attitude not sure why. Hertz has the absolute worst customer service. You can't get thru their 1800 number to speak to a customer service rep. The automative system never gives you the option to speak to an actual person and it keeps having you press different options and then if you don't reply fast enough it just hangs up on you. I had one toll while I had my rental, the toll was for 2.80. Hertz slapped on an additional 9.99 convenience fee on top of the toll!!!! I won't do business with Hertz again! read more

Our experience with Hertz was the worst I've ever had trying to simply rent a vehicle, and then return. Renting was difficult after an accident which prolonged our trip and then, when returning the car, they insisted on charging us for several added items that were just a means I'm addingcost to this bad situation. Terrible signage. There's one small sign on the Ford service building. Then when you finally find the right door there's no way of knowing that the office is immediately to your right. It looks like your just at the service center. I talked to a Hertz rep yesterday who said they closed at 4. I get there to find out they close at 12. After signing my name in a clipboard (only because another frustrated customer pointed it out to me) I sit for half an hour. I hear a guy call Davis a couple of times. After checking the clipboard again I find my name crossed off! Then I ask when the shuttle is running and am told they guy left at 11. Overall very difficult to find and terrible customer service. I've been renting cars for nearly fifty years from locations all over the country. I've rented from Hertz, Avis, Alamo, Enterprise and many others. I have to say that the majority of my experiences have been good and many have been exceptional. Today I went to Hertz in Rockwall, Texas to pick up a car while our car was in the body shop. What a disappointment! This was without question the absolute worst car renting experience in my life. After waiting some 30 minutes without any acknowledgment from staff, (here you sign in on a preprinted form outside the door of the glassed in office) I finally stepped in and asked if they were aware they had people waiting. They were not. There was one man (Alex) ahead of me who was finally called in. When he was done I finally got inside. By now I'd been there 45 minutes and I was not real happy. But I was polite in letting the clerk know that I was less than pleased with the service. As she was processing my paperwork, she informed me that I would be responsible for 50% of the rental. I explained to her that this was not the case as my policy pays for up to $50 a day for rental cars. I suspected someone had transposed the information from $50 a day to 50% which is most likely what happened. But she now had to call someone at Hertz for clarification. I could tell from her end of the conversation that the person on the other end was less than interested in solving my problem and supposedly would call back once they'd spoken to my insurance company. By this time I was pretty much fed up with Hertz and told the clerk I'd go out to the lobby to make my own phone calls. During all this time I could tell that several people were trying to get their rental cars straightened out and I could sense a high level of frustration among them. Once I spoke with my claims adjuster I asked him to transfer my rental to Enterprise because I was DONE with this Hertz office. (I am not done with Hertz as a company, just this location). I informed the clerk that I was leaving and going to Enterprise. She could have cared less. As I was walking out to my car I noticed that Alex was still walking around the parking lot as if he had not found his rental yet. I asked him if that was the case and he said it was. Despite my initial fear of renting with them due to their poor reviews, Hertz was the only company that would allow me to rent given my age(20). Because I have AAA the underage fee was waived. I reserved a car the night before pick up and when I showed up in the morning a car was ready for me to use. Check out was fast and easy. The associate was very nice and professional. He allowed me to change part of my reservation at check out and I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. The car was clean. I had no problems during the week I had the car. I returned the car to Hertz located at DFW Airport and the process was fast and easy as well. I waited until the final charge cleared on my card to make this review. And I was charged exactly what I was quoted. My entire trip went seamless and I will be renting through them on my next trip. I can't speak for others experiences with Hertz, but mine was amazing. read more

This the absolute worst place to rent a car. I prepaid online so I'm thinking I just go in get the car and leave. That wasn't the case at all. They do credit checks on people who don't pay with a credit card. This guy runs my credit then LOOKS at my score and says yea your credit is to low for us to rent to you. Ok fine give me my money back then I will go somewhere else. The guy that I was dealing with gave me a number to call and get a refund. We made a reservation for a large SUV as we had a large group going on vacation. I arrived at 8:00 with our reservation number and was told they had no cars for our reservation. Why take a reservation if you know there will not be a vehicle? Per employee, "A reservation does not guarantee you a car." Beware!!!! 12 hours later and I'm still waiting on a phone call back. they always charge more than what they say. Sooo many hidden fees they tack on. Use another company I've already had a bad experience with Hertz once. Unfortunately somebody hit my wife's car, the suggested rental company by the insurance was this one. Went to pick up the car lady asks me do you want extra insurance I made sure to say no because they are always trying to sell it. She then has me sign a bunch of papers telling me it's to agree that I'm taking the car and if anything happens it's my responsibility and so forth. Has me sign like 4 different things. I guess it's part my fault for trusting hertz employees so I didn't read every single page that I signed. After my rental like two weeks later I'm receiving a $200+ charge for a 7 day rental for additional insurance charges. I called manager was no help whatsoever. She just said I signed a paper saying I wanted the basic package which means I have to pay extra. She then just tells me to call corporate. I was on the phone for over 30 min. Just to get a partial refund. I'm 100% sure I told the lady that checked me in that I didn't want extra insurance. That's why I pay for it on my personal insurance! Would give zero if I could. I had to deal with them after being rear ended (the vehicle that hit me had State Farm and they were contracted with Hertz). Waited an hour and 15 minutes at a Service King in Rowlett to be picked up to go to this tiny shop at Rockwall Ford. Once I arrived there was one guy working and four people ahead of me 30 minutes before they closed. Once I was told they would pull my rental "right up," I waited another 20 minutes. This place sucks! I had a reservation for a cargo van that I had reserved three weeks prior to my pick up day. All was good until the day before I was to pick up my car and I looked on YELP to get the phone number and saw ALL the negative reviews. I called at 8:00 am the day prior to my pick up and spoke to Daizia who assured me that a cargo van would be ready. Again that afternoon I call because I was really apprehensive because of the negative reviews and I speak to Karen who told me the van was out for an oil change and she was positive the van would be ready. Day of the pickup I show up at 8:00 am to a waiting room of some really pissed off customers who have had their reservations canceled. I spent $33.63 on a Uber to get to the location only to be informed by the Manager, Marshall Hensley that the truck was still at Firestone and wasn't ready. I had him call Firestone and they said it would be ready at 2:00 and delivered to Hertz. Marshall Hensley said he would call me an let me know when the truck comes in and then he would send a driver to come and get me to pick ups the rental van. So I spend another $25.00 to get back hole and wait. Its now one hour before they close and Marshall Hensley tells be the truck is nt back and that they were having mechanical difficulties and it looked pretty bad If I wanted to pick it up today. I suspect that Marshall Hensley was lying to me about the situation given the previous negative reviews and customer comments. I realize that stuff happens but to be told 3 times I would have a van and each time there was no van, this is unacceptable. At the very least I want my Uber money refunded due to their incompetence. Marshall Hensley said he could not do it so I am going to send a certified letter to Brian P... McDonald, President of Hertz Worldwide in Naples Florida and be such a pain in his ass that I don't care if he has to sent it to me from himself personally or from the company. Go elsewhere. This place is inside the Rockwall Ford service center, which is great if you're dropping off a car and need a rental. But, whether you're here for vehicle service or not, this rental place takes FOREVER!! I've rented cars all over the nation and this is the slowest facility I've ever experienced. I'm basing this off several experiences here, not just one. The employees spend just as much time texting between customers as they do with the customers. I am only giving the Rockwall location 1 star because I cannot give it 0. I rented and paid in full a Tahoe about 2 weeks ago. When renting the car I paid with my debit card. No where on the site did it say I could not. I show up at noon as my reservation stated and I was told that I was lucky that I got there when I did. She was closing up. Not sure why I was able to book to pick up at the Rockwall Location at noon if they close at noon. We sit down and she ask for my ID and the card I paid for the car with. I give her both and she immediately tells me I need a credit card to pay. I tell her I paid in full with this card and she said well you need a credit card. I asked if I could call my husband to bring a credit card and she says sure but I am closing up and takes the keys and locks them back up. After all this I move some money around and then hand her my credit card and she tells me that she cant change the form of payment. So after all this she says this. I walk out with no car out money that I am now trying to fight to get a full refund. And incase you are wondering while on the phone waiting to make a complaint their automated machine say you can book with Hertz using a credit card or debit. read more

I had reserved online with a pickup time of 9:30am. Unfortunately, I had a problem earlier the day of the rental and arrived at 10:45am. I honestly didn't think to call. I signed in upon arrival and a woman in the Hertz office was on the phone but yelled out that she would be with me shortly. No worries. After about 10 minutes or so I was called over to the office. The woman asked if I had a reservation. I let her know I did and asked if she would like the confirmation number. She declined and only wanted my name. She questioned when I made the reservation, for what type of car and asked repeatedly if I made the reservation for this location. I answered all her questions and offered the confirmation number again, which again she said no to. She found my reservation and made a huge deal as to the fact my reservation was for 9:30 and I was an hour late. I apologized and told her I didn't think of calling. She attempted to scold me for being late without notification letting me know it was my fault she gave my car away. I asked her why she didn't call me to see if I still needed a car. No response. I could tell she was pissed off because I was late and now I caused her grief because she had to get another car washed for me. She let me know the car I reserved was not available and it was my fault for being late. Okay, no problem. I let her know whatever she had available was fine. I gave her my form of payment, drivers license and insurance card as requested. Apparently using a debit card at Hertz warrants a credit check. What?! No other rental company has ever done this. I declined the insurance as I always do. The woman condescendingly told me since I am declining their insurance I am responsible for anything that happens. I get it. My FULL coverage insurance covers anything I drive. She proceeded to tell me if I get a flat and get stuck somewhere it's my problem. I stated it was ok as my insurance covers me as well as AAA. HOLD ON... well now that I mentioned AAA she can give me a 15% discount. What? She said she is not allowed to disclose Hertz offers AAA discounts unless the renter specifically discloses to her that they are AAA members. Why would a well known company hide partnerships and discounts? I was asked what toll roads I would be traveling on. I let the woman know I wasn't sure. She told me to call Hertz to have the car license plate registered so if I go through tolls Hertz would know and I could just pay $5.95 for the day. Not so. I called Hertz (I thought she was Hertz?). I was transferred to 3 different people at Hertz all telling me they did not understand why the woman at this location was stating this. All 3 people told me Hertz rentals come with a toll pass in the car when you rent it. There is no such thing as calling in and paying $5.95. I was the only Hertz customer in the lobby and the rest were Ford customers waiting for service on their cars. We all got to hear her conversation with "Mr. Fletcher" as she was clearly arguing with him and telling him he was wrong. The Ford customers were making comments stating they were glad they were there for Ford and didn't have to deal with her. People were chuckling stating what a B she is. After she hung up with "Mr. Fletcher" the woman proceeded to talk crap about him to a man named Mike who had been in her office the entire time. She said the customer was an a-hole. She then called Sasha (a manager). Never once did she close the door to have a conversation in private. Completely unprofessional. The customer service just keeps getting better! Miss congeniality was at the rear of the car taking photos of the rear, 5' from the actual car. I asked her if she got a picture of the scratch on the bumper since we were both supposed to look at the car. She told me she was trying to take pictures but I was in her way! After moving out of HER way of taking photos of the back of the car 5' away, I asked if she got a photo of the scratch of the rear fender. She actually told me that standing behind the car she could take a photo of the whole rear and right side of the car. Moments later, she came back around to the exact spot I had pointed out and took a photo. The woman asked me to sign her phone. All that was there was a signature line. WHAT WAS I AGREEING TO?? She said that I just needed to sign. After I signed the woman walked away. Hello? Am I done? Is there anything else that needs to be completed? Am I going to get a copy of what I just signed? Are you going to ask if I have any questions? She was actually walking back to the office. I yelled across the area before she made it back to the door and asked " is that it?....hello?" She turned around and said "ya". I told her she could have at least said "thank you for renting with Hertz" or "Have a nice day" .... something to let me know the process was completed. I would not recommend this company to anyone due to their lack of professionalism. Upon arriving to rent my car, I was told that I would have to be added on as a driver and my mom would have to be the primary driver because her name was on the card paying for the rental car. I have never experienced such a policy at any other rental car place. I have rented numerous cars through my work where they have paid and I am the primary driver. Then, upon return of the car after having it a month, I was told I would have to pay a $300 detailing fee because there was some pet hair on the floorboards. I've had the car for a month, so yes it's possible that some fur from my home and my passengers homes got tracked into the car. However, the car did not require a full detail. After arguing with the employee at Hertz, I was allowed to rent the car for another day in order to pay for my own detailing of the car. Upon returning it for the second time, it took over an hour to return due to the fact that they could not find the keys that someone had taken to move the car. This was a regular occurrence however as each time I went to the rental office, it was over an hour wait to get anything done. The office is cramped and small and it is very awkward to get in and out of. From now on, I will take my business elsewhere. read more

I rented a car from Rockwall Hertz while my car was in the repair shop. A lady hit me, so her insurance company paid for a Hertz rental car. Seemed easy enough. Until I returned the car. Hertz charged me for additional insurance - and I did not authorize - or want - this additional protection. The guy at Hertz and I even had a conversation about it where he told me if I got in an accident, although MY insurance would cover it, my rates would go up. But I never take the additional insurance. When I told him I neither wanted it nor authorized it, he stated "you signed for it". So on the digital record, I signed the bottom of it and I thought I was just authorizing that I was renting the car. But I didn't read where he had already checked "additional protection". So Hertz got me for over $150 in additional protection because the insurance company won't pay for this coverage. When I kept telling him I did NOT authorize it, he just kept saying "you signed for it". Very slick Hertz. This guy was sleazy and he screwed a customer to make extra money. That will be the last time I ever rent from Hertz and I will tell everyone I know to NOT RENT FROM HERTZ. So be warned -- if you actually rent from this Hertz location, do your due diligence and read the fine print. These people will do anything to make a buck!! read more

I had a rental that was due for turn-in on Sunday. I called on Friday and spoke to Thomas with regard to turning the car in early since they would be closed on Sunday. Because this is an insurance claim and my vehicle is not in my possession because of an auto accident, Hertz had picked me up and was to drop me back off at my home after turning in the vehicle. I confirmed with Thomas that someone would be able to give me a ride back home and he said yes. I walked into Hertz this morning at 9:15 am and the middle aged brown/reddish haired woman didn't even say hello, she looked up and snapped "All I need is the key". I looked behind me and then back at her, to make sure she was speaking to me.. and handed her the key. She didn't say anything else so I said, "Hello! Good morning!" and she just looked at me annoyed. She said "are you picking up your vehicle from Ford?" I said no, I spoke with Thomas yesterday and I'm just returning this rental. I asked her if someone would be available to give me a ride home, as Thomas had confirmed, and she just rudely said "no" and kept doing what she was doing. I told her that I had called yesterday and she said, "we don't do that". I told her that I had been picked up when the vehicle was arranged for rental, from my home by a Hertz employee. To that, she replied, "Oh, I mean we don't do that on Saturdays." She was so freaking rude!!!! I reiterated to her that I had already confirmed the ride on Friday with Thomas and she said, "well, I can't help you." I asked her for her name and she REFUSED TO GIVE IT TO ME!!! SHE TURNED HER BACK AND IGNORED ME AND WALKED AWAY!!!! I asked two more times for her name and she refused to give it to me. I ended up getting an Uber and plan to call Thomas back this week. If I don't get a refund for the Uber I will call corporate. This woman has NO PLACE working in customer service and she needs to be corrected for her rudeness and behavior. When I arrived to the Rockwall location Monique was with a customer and never acknowledged me and when the phone rang she answered it as if I was not standing in front of her. When I finally got a knowledged I wanted to do the gas option because I noticed it was cheaper but she finished my rental so fast that was not an option. After a week hertz started taking out money from my account it totaled around $120 over 3 transactions I wasn't too worried because I used to work there and figured they just needed to push my rental days out. Once the insurance stopped paying for my rental I got a call a week later saying they stopped a week ago. I never knew this because if I did I would have turned in the rental that same day and would have never been charged $112 My overall experience was unacceptable and I will not be using hertz again. read more

Johnnie, who is the manager is the rudest person I have ever met! Based on her behavior, she is obviously an unhappy person and is miserable in her job. I called ahead because I was informed the incorrect time that they opened on Saturday. I called while on my way back to the dealership to ensure that they had the needed paperwork from Rockwall Ford. All she could say over and over was that she did not work for them and did not know what they were doing over there. They only had one car and it was first come first serve. She refused to begin any process while over the phone. When I went in to get the vehicle because we were in a hurry to take 6 kids somewhere, she started arguing with me immediately. After reading the reviews here I know I am not the only one that had a bad experience with the unprofessional clerk lady named Shawnee. She has no understanding of customer service. She is HORRIBLE. We lost about 4 hours of our travel time and our car thanks to her not caring about Hertz customers enough to explain or communicate policies. I wish Hertz would understand and know she is costing the company many customers and consider replacing her altogether. She was on her cell phone most of the time. When we returned a 2nd time, she was on her cell again and had NO customers and we still waited about 10 minutes while she was on her cell phone and never acknowledged us until we called out to her. After she told us she gave our car away I asked her why she didnt advise me of it, she just stared at me and said "sorry" like with #sorrynotsorry look on her face! That upset me even more to know it wasnt a genuine apology or empathetic. I so wish I could give her and this place -10 stars. Two months before my trip I booked a 7 passenger SUV, a Nissan Pathfinder or similar. It was the largest SUV listed on the Hertz website. When I arrived, the branch manager Julius Gilmore informed me all he had was a small 7 passenger SUV, which he felt would not be able to accommodate me. I needed room for a small vanity, luggage and 3 people. I asked about this vehicle twice more and received the same reply. Mr. Gilmore than persisted to up sale the larger luxury SUV or offer me a 4 door truck at the same price. I then called around to other rental car companies and due to the holiday, they did not have anything available. Mr. Gilmore informed the Plano Hertz had a Nissan Pathfinder he could have sent over to the Rockwall location. I asked how long this would take since I had already been at his store for a little over an hour. He informed this would take approx. 45-60minutes. Two hours later, the vehicle had yet to arrive. During this time, a Ford Expedition and a minivan were returned. Due to the amount of time that had elapsed, I asked how much these two vehicles would cost to rent. I ended up paying the $115 increase to ensure I received a vehicle. In just under four hours, I finally headed home to pack the vehicle and leave on our trip. To say the least bit, I wasn't pleased about this. When returning the vehicle, I was told there was an excessive amount of pet hair in the vehicle and questioned about the rock salt on the floor board in the back seat. Since the manager was not in the office, I called him to discuss. I took photos of the back seat and explain how my wife had grabbed a blanket with dog hair on it and used it in the car on the way home. The photos showed an area of some pet hair on the seat but nothing worth $300 of cleaning. I offered to take the vehicle to be cleaned, but the employees in the office refused to allow me. At this point I became upset, I called the manager back to further discuss the photos. The manager continued to be unwilling to resolve this dispute and basically told me I would be billed $300 for excessive pet hair due to pet dander in the vehicle. I attempted to explain again how Pet dander is composed of tiny flecks of skin shed by cats and dogs and not by pet hair on a blanket. The manager then switched the conversation to the white crystals on the floor board. I asked him what he was talking about since the vehicle had already been taken away to be cleaned. The manager sent me a photo taken by his staff. The photo showed some dirt on the floor board. The manager then continued to make hitting accusations that the white substance was an illegal substance. I explained how I had traveled north, Illinois, and they received 7" of snow while we were visiting. I asked if he knew what rock salt was because that was more than likely the substance on the floor board. This caused me to say a few choice words to the manager and the call was quickly ended. So during my experience with the Rockwall Hertz location, I was forced into a situation to rent a larger vehicle than I needed. Waited nearly four hours to receive a vehicle close the size of the one I had reserved. I was accused of having a pet in the vehicle due to the dog hair on my wife's blanket. Then to top it off, the manager accused me of having methamphetamines in the vehicle. Please be aware Julius Gilmore is a con artist who will scam you out of your money. Him and his staff give Hertz a bad reputation. I was appalled by how I was treated. To say the least bit, I will not be recommending Hertz to my family, friends or co-workers. read more

Reserved a vehicle almost a month ahead of time. I called the morning of pickup to let them know I was running about 30 minutes late. The girl says "oh well that's ok because we dont have any cars here anyway". I received confirmation emails when booked as well as a day two before the reservation date. Service is bad. I dropped my car off at ford to be looked at and rented a car from here, since I didnt know how long I would need the rental car they charged me $15 a day insurance for 30 days upfront. This charged $479 from my card. When I dropped the car back off to pick up mine no one was able to tell me how much would go back on my card. A couple of days later my bank account shows that something was deposited but the initial charge from hertz isnt there anymore and it doesnt show anything was put back on my card. I called customer service and the lady on the phone was very rude. Overall, BAD experience. Go elsewhere. read more

What started out as a bad day turned into a good one when i met Julius Gilmore,Sr at Hertz.At first i was really angry i couldnt find the location but it turned out great.Julius was the perfect example of what customer service is.He could have let me leave to go to competitor .4miles away but he didnt.He actually offered me a ride home and ended up working with my situation without attitude or anything.It is rare to find people like him.Thanks Julius for not making my day or pockets hurt anymore.Wonderful experience at that location would recommend this location to anyone read more
